Just made a dozen JUMBO FAT FREE, LOW CARB MUFFINS with either peaches or blueberries for the family!
Replaced vegetable oil with Promise Fat Free margarine, Splenda instead of sugar and Pure Almond Plain instead of dairy milk. 150 calorie each Muffin !
Baking early morning sets my spirits every time! Happy birthday to all born this holiday weekend.

Ain't it fun when your birthday falls on the holiday, CROYLESS!!!!! My birthday, Oct. 12, often falls on Thanksgiving here in Canada.

We are grilling chicken, grilling veggies, and making fruit kabobs with a yogurt dip, Then, I am cutting up a watermelon and we can have a seed spitting contest.

HEALTHIERKEN -- I'm so sorry to hear that your wife needs surgery! I hope everything goes well!

LOVESLIAM -- What a great compliment! I'm so glad you're motivated again!
All of these recipes sound really good -- the turkey burgers and potato salad especially! I just bought some potatoes at the farmers market this weekend, I might try my hand at making my own too!
FYI, SP has posted a blog with some Labor Day recipe ideas: http://www.dailyspark.com/blog.asp?post=laborless_labor_day_recipes. It might inspire you to try a new dish for the final summer barbeque!

Well, it is our last fling for the summer, so we are going to get a little over the limit for our cookout. We are having ground steak burgers, homemade potatoe salad and grilled eggplant. I was planning something a little more plan friendly, but this is what Hubby has requested so I feel that I can control how much I eat. I may even have my burger without the bun. I have done that before. He also asked for homemade peach ice cream. Our maker only makes a little bit, so that will not be a temptation the next day
Keep on track

hmmmmm. Probably depends whether or not the kids come home for the weekend. If it's just DW and me, it'll be barebones eating; if the kids come home, we'll probably feast and make up for it the following week : )

I will probably cook up some turkey burger and regular burgers too!. Fresh fruit and tossed salad.....others can have to potato or macaroni salads.
I love the idea of planning ahead of time for upcoming events. My game plan is to barbecue some turkey burgers (have a new recipe I'm anxious to try); probably will have some mixed fresh fruit and some kind of veggie or salad.

Hey there, I hadn't really given it much thought, as we're going to a friend's place. That's probably part of my problem, lol, the not thinking. I will try to steer clear of the dessert table; the rest is usually pretty healthy. Your goals and mine are fairly similar. I'm re-starting from about 155, but my first start was at about 165 (after pregnancy). Got down to 145 and have crept back up over the last few years. I should be at about 135, if fit, and I'm just frustrated enough to really try again. False starts the last few days, but the clothes don't lie, and I feel gross. I was doing great in the Spring/early summer, just cutting out all white foods - wasn't weighing myself but clothes were fitting really well. I lost track over the summer (bought an ice-cream maker - how cocky is that???) and that was all she wrote. Since my clothes were fitting well so recently, I can't use the excuse of shrinkage or any other obscure justification I might come up with, lol, so I have to face that I've just blown up again. I'm short, too, (5'4 1/2") and it ALL goes to the belly, boobs and back. The marshmallow on two toothpicks look is not as sexy as it sounds...;-). Sorry to hijack your post, but you got me thinking and helped to re-motivate me. Seeing your goal makes it seem achievable- thanks for posting.

Hello everyone,
With Labor Day around the corner and amazing weather for a backyard barbeque looming on the horizon, have you started planning out your menu for the picnic?
Sparkpeople posted a blog about Labor Day menus today: http://www.dailyspark.com/blog.asp?post=chew_on_this_cookout_facts_trivia_for_labor_day
What will you make for Labor Day? Will you stay strict, or will you budget in a dessert or two?
