Good morning! I'm Lisa, and I will be your travel guide for the next several weeks. We are beginning a virtual tour of some great embroidery/quilting/other textile places. We are going to start by visiting Kurenai-kai, the Japanese Embroidery Center in Japan.
I really love Japanese embroidery. It is done on silk fabric, with all silk threads. The designs are beautiful, elegant, and just simply breath-taking.
Kurenai-kai is THE teaching center for Japanese Embroidery. Here is a link to their website: www.kurenai-kai.jp/en-katsudou/index.html
(Sorry, couldn't get the link thing to work, so you will have to copy and paste the link in your browser)
It is my greatest hope that I will be able to study there one day! If you have any interesting tidbits or know of any websites on Japanese Embroidery, please share! I will also be sharing what I know about Japanese Embroidery during our journey.
We will be traveling in style on our own private airplane. It stays aloft using solar and wind power, but it only travels forward using spark power. This spark power is fueled by us, as follows:
1 minute of stitching = 1 mile
1 minute of exercise = 2 miles
1 glass of water (8 oz) = 3 miles
Using the Nutrition Tracker for an entire day = 15 miles
Blogging once a week = 20 miles
Sharing daily on the "What's Cookin' Good Lookin'?" thread = 2 miles
Each pound lost = 50 miles
These are our main spark power points. But watch for special happenings during our journey with opportunities to make more spark power!
So meet me here in Jackson, Mississippi to begin our journey. I have a magic carpet that I will send to collect you. Our plane leaves in the morning. Of course, you can join any time because my magic carpet is always available to come get you and bring you to our plane, no matter where we are!
Our challenge begins tomorrow, and I will start a thread that we can use to record our points. I will total them for us on a weekly basis.
I'm excited about our journey, and I hope you will join me in this challenge!!! Let me know if you have any questions. The main purpose of this challenge is to have fun!
