I still struggle with this one - its easy to not eat well at a park. Always open to new ideas!

Hoping to make it to Cedar Point this weekend. Thinking of food I can bring and leave in the car, especially with cooler weather. Peaches (in season now and have had some yummy ones), Bananas, Apples, lunch meat (always a challenge but try to get healthier choices).

Any other thoughts?

Something I never thought of, I wonder if any of the parks post/share the nutritional info of their food? We can make assumptions but not all Funnel Cakes or Corn Dogs are made the same.

If you're camping that might make fruit more doable, I always like the idea but have issues with execution - at least when it's hot.

Trail mix is a great idea, though cholocate might get a bit melty.

I usually try to take healthy snacks with us (fruit, trail mix, sandwiches, snack bars). But I am definately guilty of having one meal in the park (or snack)- I figure that is better than going completely wild. I also share my treat with others in our party. We usually camp when we go so do end up having a campfire and try to eat someone healthy when we get back to the campground at night.

Great point Lauren, when we were at Disney a few years ago I do remember seeing fresh fruit (at least in Animal Kingdom) and honestly I wasn't really looking for it. We did seem to find a lot of the chocolate covered ice cream mouse ears ;-)

Yet, some amusement parks I've been to I haven't seen healthy options. Cedar Point does have a Subway, perhaps I should eat there, I've avoided it due to price and usually a long line. We've packed sandwiches in the car to control both the finanical and calorie budget.

Does anyone else have specific food ideas to take with you, many foods won't do so well in a cooler or a super hot car. Plop down your ideas!

I love park food (as I'm sure many of us do)! How about enjoying our favorite treats in moderation by splitting them with park companions. My husband and I were at Disney last fall and we split nearly everything - meals, snacks, & treats. It worked out well and I actually LOST weight while there. Surprisingly, there were lots of healthy options available. We found fresh fruit to be plentiful as well as low calorie wraps, sandwiches, and salads for meals. We also drank water instead of soda - that cuts back on calories & the budget!

Amusement parks are great, they are fun, they are expensive, and they don't have many Healthy Options for Eating.

What strategies do you use - or should we use - to keep from intaking 10,000 calories on a day outing?
