If you tell God no because He won't explain the reason He wants you to do something, you are actually hindering His blessing. But when you say yes to Him, all of heaven opens to pour out His goodness and reward your obedience. What matters more than material blessings are the things He is teaching us in our spirit. Bo, I'm glad your tortillas turned out well. I love homemade corn tortillas (& have never been able to stand the taste of store bought). I make corn tortillas all the time now that I have a press (my husband is Mexican).
I've never run across the cast iron presses, but used to have an aluminum one. It was worthless. I resorted, for years, to make them by hand, with a rolling pin. Last summer my MIL stayed with us for a month and brought her press with her. When she learned I didn't have a press, she gave me hers! It's a beautiful oak block press and I LOVE using it. It makes the tortillas perfectly. Along with a large electric griddle I can now turn out 20-30 of these in short order.
When looking for a picture of the type of press I have I came across this article, which may be useful http://www.gourmetsleuth.com/Articles/Uniq ue-Cooking-Tools-641/tortilla-press.aspx comparing the different types of presses.

The tortilla press is totally worth it! Don't spend the extra $ for cast iron press, you have to put plastic on it to keep them from sticking, buy a good cast iron pan instead. I make awesome flour tortillas, too! LOVE my tortilla press!
