Yes, change can be hard. She's the one that told me about gluten and that I should look into seeing if I had gluten issues. Boy was she right but won't accept it for herself.

Dotslady, That's a cool web site. I forwarded it to a friend that just found out she can't have gluten, anything from cows, eggs and a few others I can't remember. She is really struggling, I suggest things to help but she's being resistant.
Funny thing is she's Canadian and it's a Canadian website.

I have no problem buying La Choy in both of my grocery stores, and even San-J in one, but I like La Choy, plus they have teriyaki, I do like the San-J Szechuan though

Thanks for the info. We do not have a Target where we live but do have health food stores. I will check it out. The sodium is really low and that is great.

I just saw that our local Target has San-J wheat free tamari ($4.99). San-J calls this their "gold label." There is a "platinum label" which has less sodium (240g less than gold label): www.san-j.com/product_info.asp?id=4 . You can probably find this at your health food store.

I also buy the Tamari Soy Sauce Organic Wheat Free. The sodium is high - 920mg for 1 Tbsp. I usually use it to marinate a steak or some other types of meat. I do not know if LaChoy is high in sodium. I will have to see if I can find it.

LOL I"ve found La Choy even harder to find than the San-J. I have heard it's cheaper though

Most soy sauce is not GF. I use San-J which makes a wheat/gluten free soy sauce. It's more expensive than most soy sauces and hard to find (Whole Foods carries it, if you have one), but it means I didn't have to give up Chinese food :)

emoticon Am I correct that soy sauce is not gf, and I haven't looked much, but is there a gf soy sauce or do you just omit it and use other spices for Asian cooking emoticon

I noticed there was a recipe on that site that used soy sauce...

Often a concern for newbies to gf diet: "What to eat?!" Let's list links for sources for help here. (I know there are links on other threads, and will try to combine sources when I come across them). If you have sources, please add them here.
