On average I am in the middle of the calorie zone - and I try to stay in the low carb value too. My carbs are mostly fruits and vegetables with maybe one portion of a high fiber cereal (all bran)and one small portion of brown rice or whole wheat pasta at dinner (not always)daily. I always exercise at the gym - spin class twice a week usually and the other days a combo of cardio (either treadmill or elliptical)and weight machines. I am aiming for exercise 6 days a week. my exercise routine is well ingrained - have been at this gym for 7 years now. It's my eating that is the challenge and I really feel after 7 weeks on Sparkpeople that I am developing good habits. Something I really have to concentrate on, though.

I work out of my house....talk about temptation right down stairs in my kitchen. I get rid of food to my neighbors and make sweets and give them away just so I can have a sweet fix. I have low calorie snacks. Three pounds 1 week is awesome. Keep up the great work.

3 lbs this week. Very tough, but I am watching and counting everything I eat. One eating trigger I have found is I eat when I am tired. I sit at a computer all day, so when I feel tired I take a 10 minute break and go for a walk. Wakes me up and kills my craving for food.

I used to weigh 250 pounds back in 1999 and lost 110 pounds in about 3 years watching my intake and exercising. Fell in love and took the focus off of myself and went up to 180 and then lost to 160 and then fell in love again and went up to 208. That was the time to stop and focus on me. Journaling my food keeps me aware and am motivated again. Wish there was a pill for motivation. Good luck!

Great job. I know sometimes the weight loss is not there but I feel thinner. I make sure with cardio work I also do free weights and the Nautilus and crunches to help make me firm. Keep up the great work.

Week 2: 3.2 lbs!
Week 3: 0.8 lbs...

So I've slowed down, but I'm still losing, so that makes me happy. And I know that I didn't do as well eating this week. I was sick (um...yeah, I was hungover) yesterday, and am pretty sure I would have gained if not for that... emoticon Haha, it was for a fundraiser, so I'm not going to get too upset about it right now. I'm still down 12.3 lbs! emoticon

Lost 1.4 kgs gives me a total of 7.8 Kgs from my start 3 weeks ago but see it is now starting to slow down

So I guess I should be upset that the scale said I was up a pound this week, but I'M NOT!! I ate out twice, but in general had my eating under much better control so I know the weight will come off eventually. I want to concentrate on my eating behavior more than what the scale says. (exercise has never been a problem for me). A day at a time, right???

I lost 3 pounds - combined with the 12 pound loss my first week, I've lost 15 pounds so far, and that's eating at the high end of my calorie range! :)

I've joined several sparks teams recently(which is great) but somehow in the chaos I forgot to post my weigh-in here. My weigh in was actually on Monday but my loss was 2lbs! I'm very excited.

I weigh in twice a month - Most of you guys are new too spark - Well I have hit a plateau bigtime. I have been at 205 for over 7 months. In my weigh in yesterday - I was at 206. I am not bummed by that because I am in the best shape I have been in 20 years. Just reporting I gained a pound

my first weigh-in! Lost 6 pounds in 2 weeks...and believe me, this is BIG for me! I held my breath getting on the scale because, in the past, no change or a gain would propel me right off track. I am motivated to stay on track and make this a permanent life change. Yea SparkPeople!

I didn't weigh in yesterday, because of a high sodium Sunday. Drank lots of fluids yesterday to flush that salt out. But did today and lost 1lb.

Prettyinpink66: I gave up soda cold turkey. How I did it was by seeing on the Today show that diet soda can cause pancreatic cancer. I knew it wasn't good for you, but to hear it put like that made me stop. It's hard for me to drink water in the winter, for some reason. I buy those Crystalite packets to mix in my water...lots easier to drink w/flavor, but watch out for some of the ingredients in some of the flavors.

I lost about 4 pounds too. But I have to give some credit to having to shovel LOTS of snow. The trackers kept telling me that I was way over my calorie expenditure and might need to change my calorie input. Lucky for me, I don't have to shovel snow most weeks. So I don't anticipate losing this much every week. But it's nice to see!

Prettyinpink, Had the same problem a few years ago. I found the answer for me was to start with a slice of lemon in the soda. Then I started adding 1 oz. of water to my glass of soda and lemon. Then up the water until I found that I was really drinking water with an oz. of soda with the slice of lemon. Sound silly, but it worked for me! Give it a try and Good Luck I lost 4 lbs and hope none of you find it!

I actually gained 2 pounds, but I had a stressful week. My baby had a minor surgery and I ate some fatty hospital food (there were good options there too!) Then I rationalized splurging at my other son's bday party... excuses, excuses... I am starting fresh this week. May even find the time to get my sparkpage going! Wow it kinda feels good to confess LOL

Any tips on how to give up Diet Pepsi? That is such a downfall for me and I know it gives me cravings for sweets, but I just can't seem to give it up. I guess 'cold turkey' is the best way to go, huh? Why does it have to be so hard? Wish me luck! I know I would feel better if I would give it up for good, but it's my only 'vice', you know? HELP!

Oh I so want to use yesterday's weigh in amount. I was at 360 but today I am 363.9. But I shouldn't complain because I started at 380. But I really do need to do my measurements. I am trying to stay in my calorie range and I am tracking my fitness. emoticon

generally my calories are anywhere from 1200-1800 (top end a little more than my "range".)

I am very discouraged..I weigh in at work on Tuesdays and was sure that I would lose today.. I have been very diligent about getting up early and working out...It is very tough to drag myself out of bed, but I have been doing it. Then I gain .2, I know it isn't much, but I was sure there would be a loss!! I have tried to be good at eating, but had my daughters birthday this week. I had a very small piece of cake, can't believe all the working out didn't negate that.

I actually gained 1.6 :( I only exercised twice last week and my weekend snacking was a little out of control. I hate when there is junk food in the house for to long. If the family doesn't get it eaten pretty soon I'm just going to throw the rest out, so that it will quit tempting me lol. Hope everyone had a great weight loss week!
