You reminded me I need to put up the photo(s) we took afterwards...
CARRIE1948's ankle didn't comply, so she traded skis for snowshoes. She, DDOORN and I went around the loop once and then she went all the way around again while he and I went halfway around and back.
I had fun skiing back and forth between them like a golden retriever, LOL. I didn't really care which direction I was going in or how long it took or whether I was going efficiently between Point A and Point B - as long as I was moving, it was all good. hehe
I haven't yet added up all the calories according to my HR monitor, but it was a lot!

I am not able to cross country ski or go to the lodge (no path shoveled!). I've had an email from a member who would like to get together at a different place tomorrow. If anyone is interested, let me know, and we'll set something up. Just nothing in the morning. I am NOT a morning person...lol I'm open to suggestions!

I would love to try this, but I cannot at this time. I will make it a goal for next year to be able to fit into my snow pants and make this a reality. This is something I have always wanted to do, but never have.

I think it sounds like fun! I don't think I've got anything going on this weekend, so count me in! I've just gotta find some decent anti-wet gear. I wore my mom's boots last weekend for snow hiking and they rubbed the skin right off the back of my feet (through 3 pairs of socks!) so I think those are out. haha

Sine I STILL haven't gotten out to attempt cross country skiing yet this winter and we've been totally DUMPED on I think this weekend looks ideal for getting out to Greenwood Park either Sat. or Sun. afternoon.
Please c'mon back and post to this thread which day works best for you if you would like to join in the fun!
I'll call Greenwood later today to confirm that they ARE open...can't imagine they WOULDN'T be...!
This Sunday looks to be the convergence of ideal temps with adequate snow to have a crack at it so I plan to be there at 2 pm. The park is open till 4 pm so that would give us potentially up to a couple hours for skiing.
Don't worry about not knowing how and looking foolish. I'll probably top EVERYBODY in THAT department...lol! But I DO want to keep at it and see if I can get my legs under me.
Check out these videos of master Cross Country Skiers and see if THIS lights a fire 'neath you:
I have been in AWE of the Olympic cross country skiers during the past week!
The rates at Greenwood for ski rentals are $3 an hour plus a trail pass fee of $4 for the day. VERY reasonable. There is a dining area for folks to sit and watch, have conversation, etc. if folks want to accompany who don't want to ski.
