You all have awesome goals! Thanks to those who have shared so far!

Goal 1: Train and run/walk a 5K before year's end. Cut 5 minutes off last year's time (which hopefully won't be hard since I didn't train at all for that day--I just showed up. I'm a smart one).

Obstacles: No running partner. Sometimes I can drag my husband along to walk as I run. Embarrassed to run in public.

Positive note: I'm hoping being active in this group and checking in and encouragement will help me get motivated. In anticipation of having to post on here, I did 2min walk, 1 min run intervals x10 tonight at a local track. That's the most movement I've done in a long time.

Goal 2: Eat healthier.

Obstacles: I come from a big family, so to me, my size was always justified. Recently all my siblings have been dropping major pounds. Eeek! When trying to grocery shop on a budget, I find it's easier to buy cheap, unhealthy items.

My fitness goal is that I am currently in Marathon training for the Marine Corps Marathon.

I really don't have any obstacles at the moment to my running......the obstacle I have is that I like to use spinning as a crosstraining and now that school is out my schedule has been completely interrupted. We are going on vacation over the next week and then I will revisit that plan when I get home.

My fitness goal is to run a minimum of 10 miles per week.
My obstacle is getting that done. My training calls for much more miles than that but I am in my busy season with work and there just don't seem to be enough hours in the day for my job and my family.

I try to beat this obstacle by scheduling "me" time on my calendar and not beating myself up when I just can't get it all done.

Marie, thank you for doing this.

l. My fitness goal is to have 10,000 steps each day. I really am pretty active doing lots of things.

2. obstacle that keeps me from regularly walking is I don't like to walk by myself. However, my walking buddy is moving here from NC next week and we will start our walking again. Yay.

Hi Everyone,

I'm going to try and e-mail out a weekly challenge every Sunday. Your goal, should you choose to participate, is to complete the challenge by Saturday of the same week.

Kudos, spark trinkets, virtual high fives will be awarded to those who complete the task and report back to the group. Hopefully these can lead to good conversations and encouragement, too.

I see we are all at different levels of activity, both physically and on sparkpeople (funny sidenote: spell check is underlining sparkpeople.)

So: Week 1 Challenge is as follows:

1) Post a couple of your fitness goals.
2) Post a couple of your obstacles in those fitness goals.

The more I know about the group, the more I can fit the challenges to include everyone.
