Zoey sure didn't like the vet trying to look in her mouth, she would have to be out! She didn't like her nails cut either. Hopefully she will get better as she goes more often.

One of the first things I did before I got Ladybird was to look into her mouth and play around with her feet. The last two dogs I had would not let anybody near their mouth and feet. I think there are degrees of "dirty teeth". Vets would probably have you in there every six months for all sorts of things, it's OK if you are made of money but I think if there is only a small bit of discolouring you would be pretty safe to leave things for a while.

One look at that poor little dog in the picture tells the story; it's eyes are wild & scared! It would take everyone in the office to hold one of my two dogs down for anything in the mouth, especially Jake. Susie will tolerate teeth brushing, but with Jake it's a real struggle. I want to have my two done next year; I just wish they hadn't jacked the price up so much with all those extras.

I can't imagine having it done without anesthetics! Poor babies!

Zoey needs to have her teeth cleaned and I plan to have that done after the holidays but I would never do anything like they are suggesting in that article. I'm with you Jules, I can't imagine ANY dental work being done without anesthetic.

This is a very informative article, and as I've been suffering from dental (and other) problems in the last week or so, I couldn't think of anything worse than going through any dental procedures without anesthetic. Just remember as with humans, dental problems in your pets can affect all other parts of their body.
