I have 2 sp teams so I asked for a food buddy because I was having problems and God answered me and now I have support from a believer like me.We write and pray and encourage each other. Praise the Lord!He does answer prayer.

I am on my way to my healthy weight.Praise the Lord!

My group here in ND needs to get back in the swing of things this summer. I think in their honor I will make this weeks challenge food tracking. If you track your food do so diligently/exercise and spiritual activity as well. They are all on the first place live-it tracker. Work on making this part of your routine for this week.

so this week lets look to spiritual things. Find and memorize a new verse this week. Might be your first place verse or someother verse that strikes you. Jesus refuted Satan with scripture. Lets work on sharpening our sword of the spirit.

Good For you. I strength train a lot. But honestly I believe it is the only thing that keeps my knee functional enough for me to walk and exercise.

Good for you!
I have been working on the sweetener thing and I have cut down some. Should cut back more but . . . I think I have a lot of excuses.
This week I think we will call the strength training challenge. Work on doing some strength training 3 X this week. If it's not your normal routine try and build it in. So vital to helping strengthen bones, rev up metabolism and tone up flab.

I think I am doing fairly well with the sweetener thing. I have cut back considerably.
I am going to be working on cutting back more but I think I am going to rest here for now.
This week the challenge is to find a friend or acquaintance or even a spark buddy to share some accoutability with. Check back later in the week and let everyone know how you do with accountability.

Has been so nice that the weather has improved enough that I can get out on my bike or to walk instead of doing all my workouts in the gym.
My downfall is really food not exercise. Got to keep working on it.

I've been eating right at least 8 meals out of 10, but I've slacked off a bit on my exercise, although I'm still diligent to do some almost daily. I think to get the scale moving, I'm goning to have to average at least 45 minutes a day. Rode the bike about 30 mins while ago, and think I'll get out again for at least 15 more mins. Gonna try to do my 5K walk tomorrow:)

I think my snacking has been more mindful. I think this challenge came about because of an episode I had with pistachios (8 oz.) after an unpleasant experience at Walmart. 'Nuf said.
This week in honor of my current push for myself. Let's concentrate on cutting back on sweeteners, both sugar and artificial, healthier (like honey or agave) and not as healthy. I am working hard on this one and inviting you to join me.

This challenge occurred to me after an episode where I purchased and consumed 8 oz. of pistachios, in the shell in one afternoon because I was angry with Walmart for something that was my fault. UFF. Bad choice. I knew what I was doing too. I just didn't care. That unfortunately still happens.

I practice mindful eating all the time, even when I enjoy some tasty splurges. I never really have all I'd like to have of anything because of considering portion control. It's a big change, as before, if I'd want three desserts and two helpings of chip and dip at a fellowship, I'd do it w/o thinking twice. Now, I might have two desserts on occasion and nix the chips and dip in favor of some "naked" fresh veggies.

Not sure if I made this or not but I have been eating quite a bit of salad so I probably did. This weeks challenge is mindful snacking. Take the time to note how you are feeling when you have a snack. It might just tell you something that will be helpful.

I found an ad for some funky mushroom derivative that was supposed to be a miracle. Way way a too good to be true. It also only cited foreign research and relied on testimonials.
A friend asked me to check out a vitamin company and see what she was taking. That was interesting. They have a proprietary plant extract blend that is supposed to provide lots of antioxidants and photochemicals. Nothing they were claiming had any outside of the company research. They had a research and development team but every thing was internal. that was a red flag to me even though everything looked safe.
This week lets try and boost our vegetable intake to 4 servings per day. You can do it.

I think the only new exercise for me is that I did triceps differently yesterday because I was working out at home with just some light dumbbells.
This week lets focus on health information/misinformation. Read a bit about warnings of false advertising on nutrition products. Spark has some great articles. See if you can spot a couple of bad ads this week and share about them.

I think I have made better choices dining out this week. I have dined out less. Haven't hit any fast food places for the most part. I might have had a salad at Wendy's on Friday.
This week let's focus on strength training. If you don't regularly train try to fit in a few things 2x this week. If you do try at least one new exercise.

Yes, sodium is in most everything, unless it is a raw food! I love cottage cheese and it is such a good low-fat protein, but it has over 400 milligrams of sodium! I'm wanting to get off my BP meds - since I've lost weight, I'm only on 1/4 dose of two kinds - but I'm gonna have to be much more diligent about salt if I ever hope to do that.

I have been a little off on getting challenges posted regularly. I think I am going to try Mondays from now on.

I think I have done pretty well with the transfat this week except for tonight. I had some brownie pieces at a restraunt. I doubt they were transfat free.
This week the challenge is to read 3 complete labels on products you consume regularly and assess their relative healthiness.

The closest to something new I tried was edamame in the shell which I have tried once before and some steamed asparagus which is new for the season.

due to my foot surgery I had not been able to excercise. With exhausting all my excuses for not doing any upper body workouts I finally went to excercise on demand with my cable channel and did a 20 minute upper body work out

I am late getting back here. I have not tried a new food though I did try a new recipe for lettuce wraps that was yummy and I learned about two foods, Chinese broccoli and garlic scapes. I will have to see if I can get either. I am also trying Chia seeds. I bought some over the weekend. I can't really say I have tried any new exercises in the past week. I did do some solo water aerobics over the weekend which is something out of the ordinary for me.
Lets make this weeks goal to track our water and focus on reaching a minimum of 8 glasses.

So for week 2 of the new year let's make our goal to try a new food and a new exercise.
Stop by the produce counter and health food isle and try something new and let us know what you thought of it.

I have been tracking exercise accurately and doing better overall with my level of intensity and the amount I am actually working out not just going through the motions.

Because First Place 4 Health's model is the 4 sided person there will be three challenge forums. The fourth side is spiritual and I feel is addressed in the bible reflections forum.
This forum will have a time relevant challenge running at all times related to our food and fitness.
For the first week of the New Year (1-7) lets concentrate on tracking. This is so critical to success. Report back on the 7th how many days you tracked food and exercise accurately.
