Where do I post my fitness times? I have no idea! Ugh, I forgot to weigh this morning. Last week I was at 5 pounds lost, so I will just stick with that. November I am going harder on the cardio, trying some new things. Strength I am doing well.

Nancy great weight loss. I managed only one pound but I'll wait a bit before changing my weight ticker. It may be a Halloween trick!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS to all who worked at this challenge! Like some others, I didn't hit the 5 pound mark (just 2.5) but I did some movement (in the right direction) in inches. So I'm pleased with myself, and plan to keep working on it. emoticon

I got blue, dark grey and white. The others were striped horizontally and I do not wear that kind. There was a brown, but that is not one of my best colors to wear. They were v-neck.
Today I am working on our Halloween costumes. We are going as hillbillies. I have the dh old overalls and I am tattering the legs. Then I am cutting the sleeves out of one of his old shirts and we are wearing straw hats. Later I am going to look for a little stuffed animal, a pig to carry. I am going to overdo the blush in round circles on my cheeks. Should be fun!

What colors did you choose? I love T's with 3/4 sleeves - especially if they have a nice V-neck.
Good for you treating yourself. It's not so much the number of pounds that are lost but the very fact that the pounds are going!

Hi ladies!
Guess what? I lost another lb. That is not 5 for me, but 3 for the challenge.
Any lb lost is a lb ahead, right? Realistically, I will not lose 5 by Halloween... but it was worth trying for!
Be proud of what you have accomplished! We have not heard from some of you... Bernadette lost inches and that is great!
The rest of you have reason to be proud of yourself.
Give us a report, good, bad or the same?
I am rewarding myself anyway because I did lose something!!! I found some 3/4 sleeve t-shirts that I love and have a hard time finding so I got one in every color.

emoticon emoticon emoticon You have every right to be very proud of yourself for fitting into clothes that you haven't wore in awhile! Obviously, you've build up muscle, since the #'s haven't come off (yet). That's great! Because those muscles keep burning calories even when you're resting.

Hello team mates. So happy that you are loosing weight. I would love to be able to make the same claim BUT although the scales don't have any good news, my wardrobe does. I've been wearing slacks that did not fit me last year, ditto with skirts and I'm especially happy that a couple of my favorite blouses are now fitting again. These were the clothes that I purchased about 5 years ago when I lost a lot of weight but had to put away after gaining over 20 pounds back. The exercising has pain off. Now I'll work on the pounds!!!!!!!

I saw a photo of myself today and I am really looking smaller! So that is an accomplishment, even if I don't lose the 5 lb by Halloween, and it doesn't look like I will... three maybe. Today was one lb lighter and that makes three.
So dwell on what you accomplish and not what you have not!

Ok, so it isn't 'great', but it's progress. I lost another 1/2 pound this week for a grand total of 2.5 pounds. emoticon

My waist is another 1/2 inch smaller, and that's great news. Now 'if only' I could reduce my hips, too! emoticon but I come from a long line of 'hippy' women.

Just days more, folks. I plan to make continued progress, how about you?

Bernadette, you are so funny! That's what we do... keep on trying. I have not lost any more other than the first week of the challenge. Have not gained so that counts for something! I would love to join the gym, there is not one close by. 24 Hr Fitness is being built 1.5 miles from my house. I am waiting for that to open. My job offers a discount with that one too! It won't be open for another ... 5 months?
I am exercising, drinking my water, logging in my food.

I'm keeping up with all the challenges but I can see that reward at the end slipping away. I have not been able to loose anything even though they're getting tired of me going to the gym so much - they probably think I'm homeless and have no place else to go! lol

With the 1/2 pound I lost this week, I've lost a grand total of 2 pounds. whoop-dee-do. emoticon

The good news is that I did lose 1/4 inch in a couple of measurements, and that's really good news. So maybe I won't make the loss of all 5 pounds by Halloween, at least I'm making some progress again. I was at a standstill for several weeks, and quite depressed over it. I'm looking up today. emoticon

I will try the quinoa recipe, sounds good.
I made lentil stew and dh is not going for it this week. He had to have hamburger and fries with ice cream last evening while I had the lentil stew. sheesh! He is stressed and that is his comfort, but still not good for him!

1. Lose 5 pounds by October 31: 4 pounds so far

2. Use the Sparkpeople food log every day: Failed, but am sticking to my food plan

3. Drink your water every day: emoticon

4. Exercise at least 30 minutes a day at least 5 times a week: emoticon emoticon emoticon

5. Try one new healthy recipe each week: emoticon

Quinoa with Peas

Rinse 1 cup quinoa extremely well, multiple times. Place in large saucepan.

Add 2 1/4 cups water.

Cover, bring to boil, let cook like rice (does not take long, though!)

While cooking quinoa, whiz in food processor:

1 onion
1 green pepper
1 mildly hot pepper
Several mushrooms
2 carrots

Put 1 cup peas in pot, turn off heat.

Place chopped veggies in pot. Let any remaining water soak in.

Season as desired with salt (I used Mrs. Dash-tomatoes, garlic and basil).

Well I will give my results too.
Ihave not been able to exercise this week because of severe pain in my side. Have been able to work, however.
No pounds lost and no pounds gain.
Using food log and drinking my water every day.
Had dr appt today and felt better this morning... isn't that always the way it happens? He lowered my diabetes meds... says that can back up your plumbing. So next up is the dreaded colonoscopy. Tomorrow I will go to dentist and next week the Endrcrinologist.

A bit early but here are my results for this week

Progress report for: Week Oct 2nd to 8th

1. Loose 5 pounds .. no loss this week
2. Use SP food log daily........... Logged in daily
3. Drink water daily............... drank 8+ daily
4. Exercise at least 30 mins 5x a week......5 times
5. New healthy recipe............see below
6. Reward - purchase something new to wear


Although there is a recipe that is similar here on SparkPeople, this is a salad that I have been making for a couple of years now.

Spinach leaves (well washed)
Mushrooms (sliced thinly)
Strawberries (sliced thinly)
Mandarin Oranges (if using canned, drain well)

Toss lightly with a small amount of oil & vinegar dressing. You can use any other dressing you like.

At times, I don't use the strawberries and it's great that way too.

Hope you like this salad!

1 pound chicken breasts, skinless
1 pkg. frozen broccoli, broken into small pieces
1 can reduced fat Cream of Mushroom soup
1 T. fat free mayo
1 cup reduced fat shredded cheddar cheese

Directions:
Boil chicken breasts till done. Drain. When cool cut into 1 inch pieces. In casserole dish mix mayo with soup. Add broccoli and chicken. Mix well. Sprinkle cheese on top. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes until cheese is melted.
Serves 4

I modified the recipe by: baking chicken in oven for 35 mins.
I used fresh broccoli broken into small pieces. I also added 1/2 cup celery. The veggies were done but still crisp after the 30 minutes of cooking.

This recipe comes from SparkPeople recipes and we had it for supper last evening. It was very nice.

I am back down to where I was... it was water retention. Now I need to lose 3 more and that is the hard part!
I fell and bruised my foot, so exercise is not too easy right now. Always something, I swear!!!!

One of my Sparkfriends, ArthurTom, told me to start doing strength training and the weight will come off faster. He used to weigh 349 and now is over 100 lb. lighter. I don't have time for a gym at the present time, but I plan to go when I get the chance and work with a trainer at first. Might be worth a try. You can read my latest blog for his recommendations, if interested.

Well, I've managed to keep the 2 pounds off but the rest are hanging on for dear life. What else is new?
The doctor mentioned that the antibiotics (for the dog bite) might cause a bit of problems with my weight and I've got another 5 days to go. So I'll catch up soon.

Hooray! It's Fall! I just love Fall or Autumn! The weather changing, the leaves turning to gold, a crispness in the air… and then there is the fall foods, apples, pumpkin, butternut squash, etc. My favorite day of the year is Thanksgiving with turkey and dressing and all the yummy stuff that goes with it. This year I plan to eat only the healthy stuff, though. A little dressing never hurt anyone.

To prepare for the season of feasting, let’s lose 5 pounds before Halloween and then it will be so much easier to continue our healthy habits through to Thanksgiving and Christmas!

So here is the challenge:

1. Lose 5 pounds by Halloween
2. Use the Sparkpeople food log every day
3. Drink your water every day
4. Exercise at least 30 minutes a day at least 5 times a week
5. Try one new healthy recipe each week… I will do my best to post a recipe on another thread and you can also post yours too!
6. As a reward for losing 5 pounds, buy yourself something pretty to wear for the rest of the fall season, a new dress, a blouse, jacket, skirt, whatever you like.

Let’s all turn from pumpkins into zucchinis! Will you join me?
Oh and don't forget to check in on this thread each week with a progress report!
