This week was a pretty good week for eatting clean. I would say I was at about 60-70%. My new food to try was quiona. Well I must say this is a high protein addition to veggies. I made it ahead and had it one day hot with sauteed veggies with a tai spice, and another day cold with cucumbers, onion, peppers, and oil and vinegar, itailan seasoning like a salad. Such an easy thing to make and have for lunch at work.

Another new addition is Chia seeds....bought it and plan to read about it this week. Tosca talkes about it and it was mentioned in a book that I just read called Born to Run.

I also bought the Clean Eatting Stripped book and plan to follow that 28 days after my vacation starting about July 10th emoticon

Day by Day ..that is the way ....

Making my focus to Eat Clean this week.......I lost 6 lbs eatting clean....
So as I focuson 100 days of my life and today being day 25 of my Blog, the next 5 days are going to be about eatting clean

Tues - not great
Wed - So hot that was way under in calories but all clean
Thur - really good - doing well - so happy and wish I could bottle this feeling so I remember when I eat something stupid. LOL

I just figured out why I was eating so crazy...I am a stress eater and my daughter is going through some major stuff with her ex and his family...they for some silly reason figure that she should go it alone and raise those 4 kids with out any support or help from the father..go figure. And now that I know that I was stressing and over what life should be back in control emoticon Sorry about venting but I do feel better and in control again emoticon

Tuesday-was a fail due to getting to bed to late last night because my daughter had a tresspasser in her yard after midnight...stressed out and ate clean but way to many carbs.

Wednesday-not so good and so bad.

Thursday-HORRIBLE!! Tomorrow will be better!!!!! lol

Friday-bad!

Cheat day-very bad!

Monday - ate great but not enough - very busy and hot
Tuesday- ate clean all day, was tempted but didn't give in.LOL
Wednesday- did very well
Thursday-everything clean
Friday- did really well until bedtime and had 1 potato chip
Saturday- I have been tempted today but doing well so far - eating green pepper now

lol me too!! emoticon cinnamon bun was great but my body as well is letting me know it didn't like it to much and is not happy with me...tomorrow clean eating emoticon

And this was how I lost over 22 inches of body fat...eating clean 6 days a week and one day cheat treat or 2....hopefully it works this time emoticon

Okay I keep on slipping on this challenge...have a new one if your interested in doing it with me lol...Eat clean foe 6 days straight then once a week have a treat with no chemicals or preservatives...does this sound doable? I know it worked great for me before..,its how I lost over 22 inches of body fat since joining sparks...I thought I would try this again emoticon so today would be day 3 but on Saturday I am going to have a cheat meal and start again on Sunday.

I was noticing a weight gain since I was taking 3 tablespoons of coconut oil per day and not tracking it in my nutrition tracker so I wrote to a really smart sp friend who has already achieved her goals NANCYANNE55....she has done amazing and this was her response to my letter to her regarding coconut oil, I wanted to share it with you:

LaDelle, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the calories in coconut oil DO get absorbed by your body, so I think we have found your culprit. The fact is that calories are what provides the energy in food. So if the body is absorbing it as energy, it is absorbing calories. That's the only place energy in food can be coming from. And there is no way that 3T of coconut oil is going to raise your metabolism (that's what "thermogenic effect" means, BTW) the 360 calories a day that is in the oil. And 360 extra calories a day can be enough to keep you from losing weight, or at least seriously slow it down.

My guess is that your weight loss stalled when you started taking the coconut oil, yes? Start counting those calories. And keep in mind that even though it's a healthy fat, it's still a fat and needs to be taken into consideration in your daily macronutrient (carbs, fat, protein) counts.

Personally, I feel like too much of anything is not good. And to me, almost a quarter a cup of any kind of oil, even a healthy one, a day is excessive.

I so agree with her and man does that ever make a lot more sense then what I was doing!! emoticon emoticon So I think I will restart my 30 days of eating clean and do it right!!!

I had fallen for another to good to be true weight loss scheme!

No no no...don't start over just don't count yesterday is all... start where you left off..like the other day I had a piece of cake so I didn't count it but then the next day I ate clean and that was day 10 for me...see and I am hoping by doing this challenge it will become more of a habit...because life does happen and sometimes we slip but that shouldn't erase the days we succeeded right? emoticon RIGHT! lol So keep on counting and everyday you have a little slip just don't count it and get right back on track the very next day or even the very next meal emoticon

Good lesson learnt emoticon emoticon I have those days as well...lol who doesn't?

Ack! I blew it! Running late, skipped breakfast... and when I arrived at the family get together I made excuses in my head and ate stuff I should not have.. stayed in my calories for the day.. starting over.. Day 1..

Lesson.. do not skip meals.. plan and prepare what to eat at gatherings.. bring some healthy dishes for all to share... and if you fall down.. get up.. dust off.. and take that next healthy step forward.. be accountable... be honest...hugs deb

Yesterday I had a really small piece of cake at my niece's bridal shower...so I wouldn't offend my family and then I ate clean the rest of the day...didn't have chips or juice..so it was a mostly eat clean day lol. So I won't count yesterday.
But today was a good day.

Today is Day 6 and all is going well for me! I did go off plan JUST A LITTLE on Saturday for a Mother's Day dinner. Sushi and a glass of wine, and I researched what the best choice for me would be before heading to the restaraunt. Even wrote an article for my Examiner page since I already had the info for myself emoticon

Yeah keep me posted on what you find out. I like to jump to the parts of books that tell you the "plan" too. lol I'm not a food scientist or a chemist so I'll just have to go with how I feel. If it's all natural and no calories and doesn't affect your blood sugar then maybe it's ok? I don't even use it everyday anyway so for now I'll toggle between my stevia and my Truvia since I have both. lol Enjoy the day!

Great point...but I read in the Eat Fat Look Thin...that Bruce Fife recommends stevia but I didn't read about any other sweetner yet but then again I was jumping ahead in the book...because I wanted to find out what you should be eating and what you shouldn't be eating...I am only on first few chapters of the book and I want to be at the part where he is telling you what to eat in phase 1 lol...there are 3 phases to his eating plan, and I want to be there now. emoticon I will keep you up dated if you want me to as I find out more about sweetners. Yeah I usually only have about 2 fruits a day. Truvia is made from Stevia but I don't know much else about it. It's zero calories and all natural I think. I threw the box away. I like Truvia better than Stevia. They sell Truvia all over, even Wal-Mart.

I found this on Wikipedia....this is about the main ingredient that Truvia is made from:

Erythritol-((2R,3S)-butane-1,2,3,4-tetra
ol) is a natural sugar alcohol (or polyol) which has been approved for use in the United States[1] and throughout much of the world. It was discovered in 1848 by British chemist John Stenhouse.[2] It occurs naturally in fruits and fermented foods.[3] At the industrial level, it is produced from glucose by fermentation with a yeast, Moniliella pollinis.[1] It is 60–70% as sweet as table sugar yet it is almost non-caloric, does not affect blood sugar, does not cause tooth decay, and is absorbed by the body, therefore unlikely to cause gastric side effects unlike other sugar alcohols. Under U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) labeling requirements, it has a caloric value of 0.2 kilocalories per gram (95% less than sugar and other carbohydrates), though nutritional labeling varies from country to country—some countries like Japan label it as zero-calorie, while European Union regulations currently label it and all other sugar alcohols at 2.4 kcal/g.

Very interesting! The only other ingredient listed is Rebiana and natural flavors. Here is the info on Rebiana:

Rebiana is the trade name for high-purity rebaudioside A[1], a Steviol glycoside which when used as a non-nutritive sweetener is 200 times sweeter than sugar.[2] It is the primary source of sweetness in the Truvia sweetener brand. Rebiana is derived from Stevia leaves by steeping them in water.[3] Cargill has filed patents which give it exclusive rights to sell Rebiana in beverages.[4]

And last is Stevia:

Stevia is a genus of about 240 species of herbs and shrubs in the sunflower family (Asteraceae), native to subtropical and tropical regions from western North America to South America. The species Stevia rebaudiana, commonly known as sweetleaf, sweet leaf, sugarleaf, or simply stevia, is widely grown for its sweet leaves. As a sweetener and sugar substitute, stevia's taste has a slower onset and longer duration than that of sugar, although some of its extracts may have a bitter or licorice-like aftertaste at high concentrations.

With its steviol glycoside extracts having up to 300 times the sweetness of sugar, stevia has garnered attention with the rise in demand for low-carbohydrate, low-sugar food alternatives. Because stevia has a negligible effect on blood glucose, it is attractive as a natural sweetener to people on carbohydrate-controlled diets.

The availability of stevia varies from country to country. In a few countries, it has been available as a sweetener for decades or centuries; for example, stevia is widely used as a sweetener in Japan where it has been available for decades. In some countries, stevia is restricted or banned. In other countries, health concerns and political controversies have limited its availability; for example, the United States banned stevia in the early 1990s unless labeled as a dietary supplement,[1][2] but in 2008 approved rebaudioside A extract as a food additive. Over the years, the number of countries in which stevia is available as a sweetener has been increasing.

It all sounds a little confusing. I wonder why there were political controversies if it's natural...same reason weed is controversal I guess. lol hee hee!

Your welcome, and your awesome!! I like answering questions if I know them lol. Yeah most breads are made of sugar and thats why I don't eat them emoticon sliver hills isn't to bad for dryness just stick it in your freezer to keep it fresher and you'll keep it softner for longer, the reason why most breads stay soft in a drawer or on your counter is due to the preservatives they add to the breads to keep them soft...which is harmful to the body emoticon emoticon . Well I would only have 2-3 fruits per day when your trying to lose weight...I have 3. I have never heard of Truvia sorry... just learnt about stevia the other day from the Eat Fat Look Thin book. You could google it. emoticon

Very true! Isn't most breads made with some form of sugar though? Does the bread you like taste anything like Ezekiel bread? That bread is good but it's really dry so I only eat it for toast.

I can have lots of sweet fruit:) lol Actually today I didn't even crave sweets to much at all. I had my one square of dark chocolate and the banana. I did have one Tbsp of agave nectar with the oatmeal but that was before I knew better. lol What about Truvia? Is that ok since it's from Stevia? Just wondered. Thanks for answering all my questions! This is so fun with someone else helping!

If you could find an all natural lunchen meat...I had some before I started my challenge...that would be good, because sometimes even if the meat is low in soduim its still very high in sugar emoticon Your welcome...I love sliver hills bread it tastes really good, and its clean. Remember this when you have a sugar attack...its just 30 days not forever after 30 days you can have a treat or more, then do it again! You can do anything for 30 days...yes? emoticon At least thats how I got through my first 30 day challenge.

Can you have low fat low sodium turkey lunch meat? OK no sugar...wow this is gonna be HARD! lol One day down! And I didn't use croutons, I used bread crumbs for the turkey meatballs...but I will check out that bread. Thanks!

Hey BEACHGIRL76 good going.... so far so good! No sugar girl none what so ever that includes agave which is totally healthy but a sweetner none the less or honey...you can have stevia emoticon . What are your coutons made with? If they are made with anything but olive oil or coconut oil don't buy it...make your own its way healthier emoticon you can buy sliver hills bread which is totally clean and make your coutons from that bread, I buy a whole turkey and have some for supper and then freeze the rest I don't really like to buy lunchen meats due to all the chemicals they use to make the meats...no problems keep on with the questions I don't mind answering.

PEARLM69 I love my coconut oil it cooks up great and tastes really good emoticon

Well today I did really good...for me at least. It's not 100% but I know I can't go 100% cold turkey. I've never done this so I have a lot to learn. On that note, I have some questions....You said NO sugar, so does that mean no honey, no stevia, no agave nectar, no maple syrup?

Breakfast: I had steel cut oats with cinnamon, walnuts, raisins, and 1 Tbsp agave nectar. Is that OK? Also I had a glass of organic skim milk.

Lunch: Big salad with spinach, romaine, red cabbage, red onion, sunflower seeds, fat free feta cheese, cherry tomatoes, black beans, and a little bit of yogurt dressing. I also had a corn on the cob and one boiled egg with ice water.

Snack: Banana w/pecans

Dinner: Now this is were I think I messed up. I had whole wheat noodles (is that allowed?) with turkey meatballs and organic tomato sauce. It was SO good. The only thing was I had to use 1/4 cup of Italian bread crumbs to make the meatballs...and that was not "clean". 1/4 cup for a whole pound of turkey isn't going to kill me but it's still processed. I could have used whole wheat bread crumbs. Can you use whole wheat bread on this plan? Or low fat turkey lunch meat? Or is lunch meat a no-no? I told you I'd have a lot of questions! :)

Today is my first day back on this challenge and so far I am doing great!! I am doing a couple things this time round...I am using both the eat clean diet and the coconut diet...the two diets are pretty much the same thing they both want you to leave the processed foods alone and eat really clean the only difference is that the coconut oil diet wants you to leave all the low-fat and none fat foods alone as well and eat the regular good for you fats go figure...I am so going to try it!!

Well.... I did better yesterday than the day before. That's something I guess. But today is completely clean. I started today with a shake, banana, blueberry, hemp protein powder. Was great and a good start to my day. emoticon

I love Tosca Reno, she is so inspiring. So inspiring I have all her books. I have tried alot of recipes, the chocolate soy pudding is really good, my hubby loves it too. Great way to get that dark chocolate in! I would like to join this challenge as I am needing some accountability. I just joined Goodlife as well. So here we go, I start the Challenge tomorrow! If you will have me. Well if not, I am still doing it. :-P

I f you guys are having problems with controlling your hunger and your cravings coconut oil works great for that! Just use coconut oil in place of all other oils and try to use 3-4 tablespoons a day as this will help with cravings and hunger...it helped me do this challenge last month on my own for 30 days, it was awesome!

I will have to ease my way into this challenge. I'm about halfway through Tosca's boook and skipped to the recipes at the end and flagged quite a few along with flagging items in her cookbook.

I have my half marathon this coming Sunday and my birthday is the following Wednesday, so I'm sure there will be a cheat or two to celebrate both of those.

I am however loaded down with a banana, apple, orange and blackberries as snacks for today.

I will do the best I can at the challenge and cheer you all on throughout the journey.

Hi everyone I thought to start a new challenge as its working great for me and I am shrinking and I so want to do this challenge again but this time round I would love some company! So the challenge would be as followed...eating clean this means no refined flours or sugars, no preservatives or additives or chemicals CLEAN EATING lol and no sugar except for 1 oz of dark clean no junkie chocolate emoticon per day. As dark chocolate is good for you: read this about dark chocolate...COCOA: Eating cocoa in the form of dark chocolate is an excellent tool for managing weight. A square or 1 ounce of dark chocolate enjoyed at the end of each day, or every other day, is a treat to look forward to. It will hold off your sweet cravings and provide you with plenty more nutritional benefits and fewer empty calories than milk chocolate. Furthermore, the stimulating effect of cocoa means it will boost your metabolism and help you burn more energy. Good stuff hey? emoticon emoticon
So I will be starting my challenge on Thursday the 28th...you can start whenever....but I thought it would be more fun doing it with someone then alone! Any takers?
