Same with me as Skyeliner. I have to be careful that my blood sugar doesn't drop otherwise I get ill. One of my favorite mid-afternoon snacks is homemade hummus and some cut veggies! My challenge is being on campus for class and other meetings all day and looking for an easy way to conveniently pack my snacks and lunch w/o adding too much to my load!

I am a huge fan of the 3 meals/2 snacks approach. When I don't snack, my blood sugar plummets by lunch / dinner and I feel ravenous. Since I've started SparkPeople, I've been trying to make sure to get my 2 healthy snacks in. Ironically, I was running late this morning and forgot to bring any to work with me. Thankfully, the vending machine in the staff lounge had Nutrigrain bars, which served as my mid-morning snack.

I am usually fine in the morning because I'm busy at work and don't have time for snacks. Can't eat in front of the students. It's the time I get home from work around 3 or 4. I try to work out first. Then eat dinner. If I need a snack I try to eat almonds or a granola bar. Something to give me that little boost til dinner time.
I completely agree with this! I find that my that usually around 10:30 - 11 in the morning and 3 - 4 in the afternoon I am feeling that urge to have something.
So, usually in the morning I have some sort of fruit between breakfast and lunch. In the afternoons I always try to have something with a little extra protein in it to get me over that afternoon slump. Lately it's been celery with some peanut butter.
I find that by having the smaller healthy snacks between meals i'm less likely to overeat when it comes time for lunch or dinner.

Your week is almost over. How are you holding up? Are you needing more energy around 10am & 4pm each day? Maybe you should consider spreading your calories throughout the day with smaller meals AND snacks. Hmm....that's a GREAT IDEA!
Your challenge today is to EAT TWO HEALTHY SNACKS. Have one in the morning after your body has used the energy from your breakfast. Have a healthy snack during the late afternoon when your body is starting to get tired, and dinner won't be for a few hours.
Many folks swear by eating three smaller meals and two healthy snacks a day. Give it a try. You just might find out that this works beautifully with your hectic schedule.
