*Whole grains (i.e. whole wheat pasta, steel cut oats, high fiber cereals, etc.) *Brown Rice *Splenda or sugar substitutes *Adding fresh fruit to your cereal instead of sugar *Adding more spices to your meal instead of unnecessary fat

I basically agree with BESCATS but have to add, no matter what you choose, eating plan or exercise, make sure it is what you like to do or eat or you will never stick with it!

I have been lucky, I have never had an extreme weight problem. When I decided I needed to lose weight, I had 40 lbs. to get to my goal weight. I have never been on any type of a fad diet. I have followed Weight Watchers some, with my husband.
I have learned that the best way to lose weight is with a healthy eating plan that includes all types of foods, in moderation. Slow and steady is better, and reward yourself from time-to-time for a job well done.

I used one of the Spark People recipes for corned beef hash to use up Sunday's corned beef.. it was simple, tasty, as low in calories and fat as possible, and a big success at home.

I sat and finished a book this morning. That was nice.
I am planning on making Crock Pot Pumpkin Steel Cut Oats tonight. I put it on to cook overnight and I have breakfast ready in the morning! recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp? recipe=428956 I like this recipe because it is easy and yummy. It makes a big batch and I divide it into single portions and put in a sandwich baggie. Then I put it in the freezer and pull out whenever I want it for breakfast or as a snack.
