I had broccoli and carrots with lunch and broccoli with dinner, but no fruit yesterday.

Opted for left over nachos rather than pasta salad yesterday so no veggies for me.

Today I have a banana for my snack. Don't know what is for dinner. emoticon

Banana today. Perhaps some pineapple later tonight. Romaine lettuce and carrots on lunch's wrap. Black beans with dinner tonight.

HI!
Our challenge for here is a minimum of 1 fruit and 1 vegetable, but anything "over and above" would be quite beneficial. I'm sure you know that it's better to focus on the veggies (raw are better), and try to limit your fruit to a max of 3 per day (unless your Dr.or dietitian say different!

How many servings of each (fruit/vegetables) are we suppose to have each day?

Did anybody notice that there is new feature next to where you add your water consumption? It's a quick trak for fruit and veggies. I think that will be helpful. Have a good week,ya'll!

I'm so bad on the weekends! My goal right now is to make the "weekend" only 1.5 days instead of 3 (Fri, Sat, & Sun.). That way it's only 1 full day "off" instead of almost 1/2 the week!!!! Ugh. So, Sunday was good (veggies, not fruit though) and I couldn't even begin to tell you what I ate Friday and Saturday. emoticon Oh well, back on the horse. It's just hard to go online and be accountable when you're online all the time at work. You really want the weekend to be a break, ya' know!

Yesterday I had grapes with breakfast and pasta salad for lunch (fresh peppers & tomatoes included!)

Today I brought in grapes for a snack. Will probably have the last of the pasta salad for dinner.

Yeah, I haven't done too well today. Yesterday, the spinach and mushrooms in breakfast and shredded carrots on the wrap for lunch (not a ton, but some). Dinner was out (built my own burrito at On the Border). Alas, no fruit.

Today, no fruit and only corn with dinner for the veggies. I should get back on track tomorrow.

Tomato is a fruit, although the Supreme Court decided it was vegetable for other reasons (exporting/importing). Don't ask.

Anywho - ate my banana and a package of the green giant veg. medley. :)

I'm totally into the veggie-w/-a-little-meat subway sandwich. I'm always asking them to "put some more" of those veggies on it!

I don't know what the official ruling is on tomato's. Some classify them as a fruit, others as a veggie.

All I know is they're healthy and fall into one of the two categories (fruit/veggie). emoticon

Hello, I thought tomatoes WERE a fruit! emoticon Either way, it's still good for you!

I had an awesome day fruit and veggie wise yesterday! I had a banana with breakfast and apple and cherries chunks with lunch. For veggies, I had broccoli for lunch. For dinner, I went to Subway and had them load up the veggies. I told them I wanted every veggie they had. They could barely close the sandwich when it was done. emoticon

yummm, topping the baked potato! I am not a big baked potato fan, but I might actually eat one that way.

I ate my banana this morning and one of those exact same broccoli and cheese singles in addition to my frozen meal. I'll have to say, those South Beach Diet frozen meals are pretty good.

Clarainbow, I love those veggie boxes. I did notice at the grocery store last week that they've started to carry them in single servings, which is good for when I'm using them to top a potato (the broccoli and cheese is perfect for that).

Yesterday I had a banana for breakfast and dinner, and mixed veggies with lunch.

I just saw this challenge but I'm happen to say that I think I've kept up, at least in the fruit department! I buy a bunch of bananas over the weekend and try to eat one a day during the work week. Also, here is my way to get extra veggies: I take my lunch (convenience packaged frozen/fridge meals) and then throw in one of those small Green Giant steamed veggies frozen boxes. They are made for two people, but the serving and calories are so small they make the perfect vegetable dish to add to my lunch. I love them!

I have a problem with bananas being in so many things. I hate bananas. I like all vegetables and most other fruit.
My biggest problem is just not wanting to eat, so I eat some of the wrong things just to get some-thing down. I really think I could starve to death, at least until it started to hurt.

Today, mushrooms and spinach in my breakfast burrito, carrots and spinach with lunch, and tonight I'll have corn with dinner. And, a banana this afternoon.

Sandy, I never thought I could plan, but doing it a day in advance is actually liberating! And as someone previously posted, I know what I'm having for dinner. I've always been a creature of routine, so lunch and breakfast being the same isn't much of a change.

I actually have a recipe for granola that I need to do... it makes a ton, but it is good, though I still need to run it through the recipe calculator.

I do like the Luna bars and I occasionally bring an All Bran Bar (good for my fiber) or Nature Valley granola bars. Sometimes I'll bring a 100 calorie bag of popcorn. And, I usually try to bring at least one piece of fruit. I have some of the FiberOne bars, but I'll eat those sparingly. The ingredients aren't the best, but it should satisfy the occasional sweet tooth and give me some fiber. emoticon

Tif - I just brought some plastic containers in to organize my office stash! But, yeah, I'm keeping a peach cup and some applesauce on hand.

HEY ADLINS~

I REMEMBER NOT ALONG AGO HOW YOU WERE DREADING MEAL PLANNING,BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU'RE GETTING ALONG WELL(ESPECIALLY SINCE YOU EAT THE SAME THING FOR BREAKFAST & LUNCH!)

ON THE SNACK THING- HAVE YOU TRIED CLIF LUNA BARS? THEY'RE PRETTY TASTY,AND THEY'RE HEALTHY.NOT FULL OF ALL THOSE ADDITIVES AND PRESERVATIVES.ALSO,GRAPENUTS HAS A NEW GRANOLA OUT THAT'S PRETTY GOOD.SOMETIMES I CRUNCH ON THEM DRY,OTHER TIMES,I COMBINE THEM WITH FLAVORED YOGURT,AND FOR BREAKFAST, I HAVE THE GRANOLA,YOGURT,AND FRUIT ALL MIXED TOGETHER.I FIND IT VERY SATISFYING.SOMTIMES,JUST MUNCHING ON SOME RAW ALMONDS CAN CURB YOUR APPETITE.JUST 8 WHOLE ONES WILL DO THE TRICK.I'LL LET YOU KNOW IF I THINK OF ANYTHING ELSE.

Adlins, I do the same thing about planning my meals. I'm blessed with a lot of drawer/cabinet space in my desk, so I keep several healthy snacks here so I'm not tempted by the vending machine.

Arindana, you're doing great! You may be building up some muscle, which weighs more than fat, but doesn't take up nearly as much room.

I'm doing good today. Spinach and mushrooms in my breakfast burrito (my usual), carrots with lunch and spinach leaves in the wrap (not sure if it's a full serving, but at least I'm getting some). Orange with lunch.

Tonight I'm having a black bean quesadilla - I'm going to add shredded carrots to it and maybe some spinach (can't let it go to waste). emoticon

This is my second week planning my meals out the day before. Easy because I eat the same thing for breakfast and generally lunch, but I vary the snacks/fruit and of course, dinner. Since I only take what I plan, if I want something more I'm limited because I won't do candy bars (I've given up chocolate candies) and I really don't want to waste my calories or chips on something.

I have noticed in my own weight loss efforts that sometimes I see a change in the way the clothing fits before I actually see a change in the numbers on the scale.

So... not sure if it shifts sometimes & perhaps before it comes off sometimes or what.

But sounds like you're making progress. Congrats emoticon

I forgot to mention which I did mention on another team I go to that I had a "skinny" day meaning I didn't have suck the gut in to get the button done up on my capris. Not sure if because I air dried the pants or not. No weight change so far. But I don't think so because I think I air dried them before school started. I walked 4 times last week and went to Thu night square dancing.

Walked tonight. and brushed my teeth at 7:30 so no more snacks tonight.

I did fine on the veggies today: carrots for an afternoon snack, plus a salad (lettuce, tomato, cucumbers, onion, carrots) at lunch.

Fruit consumption: I actually get a zero on that one. emoticon

Funny because I typically have an easier time getting the fruit in rather than the veggies.

Roberta, that sounds like such a sweet trip! I was traveling today too, so I ended up cramming all the healthy food in tonight at dinner. I had some juice (fruit) and a bunch of salsa (veggie).

Did a little better on the veggies and fruit today. Had a few strawberries (Of course, they were in a fluff salad, which may have offset the advantage. I had green salad and green beans as well. My Dad and stepmother were down from Clarion IA celebrating their 20th Anniversary and we ate at a buffet where the only meat was ham and broasted chicken! Like I said, I need help!!! My Dad is 94 and lives about 6 1/2 hours away so I don't see him often. My stepbrother and his wife chauffuered them down here so they could celebrate in Tarkio, MO, the town where they got married. I live about 70 miles from Tarkio, so my granddaughter and I met them there.

Thanks for the encouragement.

Well today for breakfast I had scrambled eggs and toast with sugar free jam so that's a good start away from my usual cereal.

Tonight I have chicken and salad planned. maybe some Uncle Ben's rice.

Arindana - just a note to encourage. Remember it is one day and one meal at a time.

It is definitely a challenge to break the junk fixes for healthy ones. We all are working to overcome old habits with good ones which essentially equates to changing our lifestyle. It's definitely not an easy thing. It means retraining everything from regular meals to satisfying cravings.

Having this team and others too, (and some have other means of support as well) all are a part of the process. We all need the support and encouragement.

We are here for you. Let us know how we can help encourage you.

I have been lax too this week Roberta. I've discovered one of my biggest challenges is staying on track even when the schedule is extra crazy. Of course, it is also the time that convenience foods are well.... convenient.

I think I need this challenge! For some reason, this week I've been grabbing whatever is handy...not necessarily good for me either! Now that I look back on today, I don't think I had fruit. I did have a couple of veggies though.

If I can get one fruit and one veggie in a day I'm doing well.

I still am struggling getting off the junk fixes. seriously.

Ooo, you're going to make us work twice as hard!!! I'm in. The more fruits and veggies I eat, the less junk I can handle!

The challenge for the upcoming week: September 23 - September 29 is to eat at least one serving of fruit and one serving of vegetables throughout the day.

And... like most, I do better with one (fruit) than the other (veggies) so it will keep me on my toes too.
