I havent been doing well with my fruits for awhile. I've done ok with veggies - but have been slacking in the fruits. Today I had blueberries with breakfast and as a snack this afternoon too.

Yay! Maybe it was the jump start I needed to bring those fruits back into the routine!

With it being summer right now the farmers market is leaded with wonderful fresh fruits and veggies. I practically live on them in the summer. YUM!!

seen we either eat fruit or veggie but not good at both. I do good with my fruit but not as good with veggie. I am looking for recipes for using more veggie in my meals. I cann't eat pepper allergy. also pineapples unless they are cooked, also strawberry. But that not a lot of things. TTYL

Gosh, getting enough fruits in my diet isn't a problem. Sometimes I short-change my veggies, but never my fruits. Summer is one of my favorite seasons simply for the foods that are seasonal and available fresh from the stand or the grocery.

Lately I"ve been gnoshing on watermelon and cantaloupe along with blackberries, plums, strawberries and dried persimmons.

I can't wait till my tomatoes are ready from my garden!

Every morning I have a fruit smoothie: one cup skim milk, one cup raspberries or blueberries or blackberries or mangos and one banana. Insert hand-held immersion blender (best thing you can own) and hold down the on-button.

Then I'll have a pear in mid-morning as a snack and a spinach-tomato-cucumber salad and a V-8 at lunch. Add some protein (a hardboiled egg or cut-up chicken) and a crusty bread roll.

Then one-two cups of homemade veggie soup (sweet potato or butternut squash + carrots or pears + lots of spices) and another crusty roll for dinner. I make a big batch every weekend and freeze the remainder for the week ahead. Then a cup of frozen green seedless grapes for dessert - you'll never crave ice cream again.

This is my daily routine and I find it works to keep to a rigorous don't-have-to-think-about-it-just-do-it schedule. This gives me 4 fruits and 5 veggies daily.

If I mess up for lunch or dinner once in a while, I'm covered for most of the week anyway. A clean conscience!

No trouble eating veggies. Yesterday sauteed mushrhooms, onions, celery and snow peas to put over steak. The only fresh fruit I like is strawberries and watermelon and thank goodness both are in season.

Great rule! I've been averaging a veggie with lunch and dinner. Dessert has been peaches (most days) for almost a month now and recently, I started having fruit when I get home for the after gym before dinner snack. Which means I'm usually at 4 servings (combined) which is huge for me.

I rocked the fruits and veggies today!! I had applesauce in my oatmeal for breakfast, prune juice (yuck), cucumbers and tomatoes at lunch, a few grapes with lunch, a banana at snacktime, and a serving of mixed stir fry veggies at dinner. I'll probably also have some sort of fruit tonight for a sweet treat! I've made a rule for myself to have at least one serving every time I eat....even at snacktime. It's not hard to do if I prepare for it and I've saved a ton of calories today!!!

I've actually been managing to do at least a couple of veggies and one fruit a day. However, today, my snack before yoga was a orange - something I "craved" rather than something starchy, which is the norm for me. So today, after I'm done with dinner, I will have had two fruits.

By the way, it was a "red" orange. Anyone had those? I saw them at Whole Foods, they were large and pretty so I thought I'd give them a try. They are red, not orange, but taste really good.

Fruit & vegetables are a main staple in our household! emoticon

I have allergies & food intolerence to most fruits and to some vegetables, but...I work around that.


Yesterday my fruit & vegetable consumption was:

• 2 glasses of GOJI & ACAI JUICE
• 1 cup of BLACKBERRIES

I'm doing pretty good, even on Sunday, I had veggies at lunch and dinner though no fruit.

Yesterday, beans with lunch, peas and black eyed peas and peaches with dinner.

Today, broccoli with lunch and corn and peaches with dinner.

Amarianna - I'm so glad you mentioned the Mango! I saw them at the store in the fall, but having never had mango and being a confessed picky eater, I just wasn't sure. However, I've been thinking I need to give it a go, so I will.

I had an apple for a snack, veggies in my soup at lunch, and red/yellow/green peppers and onions with my fajitas at dinner. I also had a small salad before dinner. And I'm having an applesauce for my evening snack.

Have you tried fruits and veggies you haven't tried. I had not ever had a mango until last summer and I added it with pineapple to some chicken kabobs on the grill. It was amazing and the brightly colored mango is so good for you!

Peaches and pears in light syrup for a snack this morning. Spinach and tomato with my turkey in a pita with cucumber slices on the side. Banana for snack, and a large serving of green beans with my spanish rice at dinner. Grapes for an after dinner snack.

Eating fruits and veggies has never been a problem with me....I find a good tip is to buy individual conatainers of peaches, pears, pineapple, applesauce (all in light syrups) as well as buying portable fruits such as bananas, grapes, apples and packing them for work. I just grab one when I need one.

For veggies my rule is at least 2 servings at lunch and at least two at dinner. If I don't feel like preparing two I just make extra of the one and get two servings of it.

I'm not sure if this has helped anyone....but I've been a fruit and veggie lover since I was little so I thought that maybe my advice may help:)

Yesterday, broccoli with lunch, romaine lettuce (caesar salad) with dinner and potatoes in the corn chowder (it was yummy).

Today, a huge sandwich split between lunch and dinner. I didn't leave the tomatoes off. emoticon

No fruit, but there's still some of the day left.

Wow Skinny! You go girl! What great habits. I've hit a plateau and am trying to figure out how to get over it.

I can't do a lot of fruit, because even though it's natural sugar, too much of it still affects me badly - I'm very sugar sensitive. However, I'm really enjoying peaches for my desert at night and the peach applesauce (natural, no sugar added) is very good.

Today, same as yesterday. Mashed taters, sweet peas, and peaches with dinner.

wow - I'm impressed with how many servings of fruit and veggies you consume.

I usually manage to get in one serving of veggies and sometimes manage one serving of fruit. I am trying to improve upon that, but it's a slow go.

I used to be hungry constantly. I was working out and the scale was not budging. I may have gained some muscle but it was soooo frustrating. I saw a nutritionist.I always liked fruits and ate them almost every day. I liked vegies as well but just ate other things. Since I have faithfully eaten 2-3 servings of fruit and 2-5 veggies daily, I can honestly say I do not crave foods (sweets, chocolate) nearly as often and I am not constantly hungry. My skin is not dry an I have consistently lost 2 lbs a week since the new year. I love Sparkpeople. My favorite fruit is a banana(my mom said she ate them constantly while pregnant. I also love blueberries,kiwi, pineapple, apples and pears are pretty good. I love when peaches and plums are in season. I can;t wait until cantelope and melon are sweet too. I live in OHIO. Pretty chilly here!
My favorite new veggie is birds eye seasoned cauliflower. It does have higher sodium but its a treat! I eat 1/2 a bag for lunch with my 1/2 turkey sandwich, kiwi and 60 caloie yougurt or pudding.
I have a bad of semi swwet morsels for my dark chocolate fix and if i get a craving I have a handful. I eat them one at a time. Slowwwwly!! I enjoy it that way.

I looked back over my weekend and realized I didn't do too bad. Lettuce and tomato with lunch on Saturday, broccoli cheddar bites with dinner. Yesterday, broccoli and carrots with dinner. No fruit, but I'm stoked about eating veggies both weekend days.

OK, I'm jumping in on this challenge also. Today I had the Warmed Apples with Granola Topping from SparkRecipes.com. Ohmigosh!!! It is so good. I like it for a warm breakfast or snack or dessert. Give it a try.
Small banana was my mid-morning snack.
Then for lunch I had a cup of steamed broccoli and my chicken fried brown rice had peas, carrots and onions in it. Will have more veggies with dinner (lots of tomatoes and onions in my lean chili).

Yes I know what a broken record is, old enough. Still play mine.

They usually use the stocks and cut them up like you would cabbage for regular slaw. add in carrots and maybe some cabbage, especially the red kind.

For dressing I usually use either a poppy seed (my Fav) or a low cal mayo or cold slaw dressing.

However if I am feeling fancy I make my special dressing. That I use on my version of a waldorf salad , broccoli and cauliflower salad or the broccoli slaw,

Take one part low calorie mayo, one part plain and just enough maple syrup to taste. Usually about 2 tbs

I'm loving the "Darling Clementines" - little tangerines / clementines - that are available now. They are sweet, easy to peel, and just delicious! Makes it easy to get in extra fruit!

For veggies, I've recently gotten into canned artichokes. Even the ones that are marinated in a little oil are not bad on the calories, and I've used the "juice" to cook other veggies (mushrooms and tomatoes) and then put them over pasta with thawed frozen shrimp.

Ali - what kind of dressing you put on the broccoli slaw? I've been thinking that I'll be able to eat more broccoli and carrots if I chop them in the chopper and add them to dishes that way. The broccoli slaw intrigues me, but I've never seen it.

I would like to join this challenge as well. I'm usually good about eating fruit, it's the veggies that I don't always get enough of. I usually have 2-3 fruit a day, apple, banana and one other. Any veggies I eat might by a slice of two of a tomato on my sandwich and that's all.

I seem to be into a grapefruit thing. Have one everyday these days. Also into Broccoli slaw. Chopped up broccoli and carrots that you make into a kind of cold slaw. Local stores makes it up so all I have to do is add a little dressing.

They are called Banana Nut Muffins. Made with Oatmeal and whole wheat flour. They are a little heavy, but the flavor was really good! It was a good way to use some very ripe bananas.

Had spinach in an omelet this a.m. as well as black beans. Lunch was a turkey, orange, onion, tomato on romaine salad. The eternal baby carrots for snacks. Oh and I made a Spark recipe for banana muffins in my new silicone muffin pan. Not bad!

A banana this morning. In my lunch which I packed this a.m., I put the rest of the stew, which has potatoes, carrots, celery, onions, turnip and turkey brats in it. (It's so good, I have to really watch my portions.) Also have carrot, cuke and celery sticks with me. Tonight there is spinach on the menu.

It's only 10am so breakfast is about it. I did have a banana then. My plans are for a stew for supper that will have lots of stuff in it. I also have a garden veggie soup in the fridge I'll use for snacking on. It has onions, carrots, cabbage, tomato and zucchini in it.

Last night, potatoes with dinner and apple crisp for dessert (w/out the ice cream). emoticon

Today, potatoes with breakfast and dinner and corn with dinner. Alas, no fruit.

OK, today I had 1 1/2 c strawberries for breakfast, chopped tomatoes and sliced cucumbers for lunch, plan to have a lettuce salad with my cajun shrimp for supper.

Broccoli in my lunch today and black beans in dinner (though I don't think technically they are a veggie - trying to remember the food pyramid). Broke my fruit mini-streak: no fruit today. But, there's always tomorrow.

It was a good fruits/veggies day for me! A banana with breakfast, zucchini with lunch, a salad before dinner, and then sweet potato, peas, and apple sauce with dinner! :o)
