I'm not really doing the 100 sit-ups or crunches challenge but we did 180 crunches last night at boot camp.

I think I'm going to incorporate this challenge amongst the others. I've been looking to really ramp up my core and this will definitely do the trick! I'll be starting Tuesday.

This next week repeating 3 workouts, with 3 sets of 12 reps either ab crunches or Jacknife on the stability ball.

I'm really having an issue with that jacknife doing a number on my back. If the last week goes significantly up on how many I may have to re-stack the sessions.

I had really planned on doing more ab work then this but haven't had the time or dedication. I think I'll hold back and increase it in June.

Right now, starting this week, 3x a week, I'm alternating between 3 sets of 12 reps on the stability ball with either the Jacknife or Crunches.

I'd like to get back to adding some more ab work but let's see what time allows. emoticon

I actually got three AB workouts done for the week which is probably the first time in history that I have done that!

And my core is much stronger then I gave it credit for as I was able to complete the Cathe Ab stability workout after all! I credit that to doing the elliptical without hands for months, and doing the hooping which must have helped far mroe then I knew!

Week 1

emoticon Monday - 10 Minute Solution Flat Belly Fast workout which involves a lot of planks, some pushups and side waist pushups.

emoticon Wednesday - 15 minutes approx. Shiva Rea Core ABS Fire and Water segment.

Hey Ann interestingly enough both New Rules for Lifting for Women guy (Schuler) and Tom Venuto don't like traditional crunches! They prefer exercises that work the core and integrate into a total body workout (which is just fine by me because I hate crunches).

For example, on the NR4L4W Workout 1A which I did today, it was 2 sets of 8 reps of the Jacknife on the Stability Ball.

The 10 minute Workout I did today was all standing and similar to a Tae Bo abs portion where you do a lot of twists. The other workout on that dvd I like, does situps with planks to stabilize and make the core work. I like that stuff better then crunches which just DEPRESS ME! LOL!

I've got to do something about my abs too! I took the SparkPeople fitness test yesterday and completed blew the crunch portion! I couldn't do what they asked! It was a true insight!

I'll be starting this challenge myself next week, starting Sunday, then Wednesday and Friday (my regular strength training days).

Hmmm I'll take the initial test and then will probably do the Bender Ball dvd workouts.

Make the workouts you're own!

Suggestions -
1.) take the initial test so you can record progress;
2.) select the method and type of situps you want to do;
3.) plan an incremental program to increase number or intensity of situps.

Primarily, I want the dvd's for the exercises as you can use any small ball for this. Be aware that if you buy it online there have been many complaints about getting on their monthly billing program (auto puts you on it) and it's HARD to get off it!
