I was away from my computer for a few days, but still did all of my required stuff - can I go back and track it? The fitness tracker doesn't seem to want to cooperate.

I have a question, if I substitute a different cardio video for Sunday (as Coach Denise said in a message that we could do), does it still count for the boot camp? I just cannot do all the jumping but found the Swimsuit bootcamp day 1 cardio video that I can do and want to substitute it for the Jumpstart one.

After reading through a few pages I got tired of reading... lol... I have a quick question, the Sunday workout from Nicole does not have a button to add to the day's fitness tracker like Mon. - Sat. workouts. I added a SparkPeople 10-Minute Jump Start Cardio Workout Video that was listed under cardio workouts. Will this work for getting the prizes? Just making sure I am doing it all right. I really wanted to win a prize! Thanks, Margie

I had a similar problem with the video today also. it kept fading out and stopping.

I haven't experienced that with any of the videos. Do you have anything else open while you are playing the video?

When I play certain workout videos, I get this weird beeping sound that plays over the audio halfway thru. It stops if I pause the video and resumes when I start playing it again. It is totally annoying and I can't figure it out. Is this something to do with the video, my computer, or some combination of the two?? It happens whether I use foxfire or internet explorer. Not all videos do this. Today's video on abs did it. Thursday's did not.

Any ideas?

JENNALOVEX3, No need to do the video twice if you don't want to. It seems that "2 sets" is the default setting for strength training and even though you are not really doing two sets, this is the way the video gets logged.

SVIET10, You did it right, so if your calorie range didn't change, rest assured that you are eating the right amount of calories. Hang in there and that scale will go down for you!

Hello. I just finished my first bootcamp video, so I'm rather new to this, so sorry if this seems like a silly question! When I logged the video into my fitness tracker through the button on the bottom of the page, it added it and included "Two Set". Does this mean I should do the video twice? I tried to keep couting with the video, and it seems like the 12-15 reps are correct.

Just wondering...I did the video twice just to be sure. Thank you!

STRAY_CAT - The bootcamp team will stay up after the challenge. A lot of people continue the routine and keep each other motivated even without the daily challenges. If the challenges are what keeps you going, there are several member-created Sparkteams that provide similar challenges. You can also explore the rest of the Sparkpeople workout videos and the workout generator for more strength training ideas.

Maybe it's too early to be thinking about this, but what are people planning to do once the challenge ends? I've been doing great with boot camp so far -- haven't missed a day of videos or cardio -- and would love to carry this momentum into another challenge. I haven't been around SP that long and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions!

Hi SARAH_VW

Went into my calorie tracking and saw last week I burned 1350 so changed it and nothing (I think) happened.....still between 1200 & 1550 per day....would that be correct? Should I be looking elsewhere for the change or will it reset next week or something?

Thanks all of you for the comments.....I will check it out. Weigh in again is Monday, so we will see this week what happens.

Definitely feel differences in my body (muscles are sore) and the cardio has been intense for me (running...not walking for 30 min 5 days a week, which I haven't done in years) so I just assumed that I would see a change in the scale....thanks again for the comments!

I know when I was under on protein, I was also stuck at a current weight level for a while. Bump up your protein. You need protein for lean muscle mass. If anything go a little lighter on carbs, but never on protein. Hope this helps.

SVIET10 - What you're experiencing is not really a plateau. A plateau is a period of several months when you are doing the same things but stop losing weight. It's actually normal to not start to see results for a few weeks after starting a new program. There is a lot happening in your body that doesn't immediately show up on the scale. Some of it may be extra water weight in your muscles. It's also normal for people not to lose weight from day to day or even from week to week. You may go several weeks without losing anything and then suddenly lose a few pounds all at once out of nowhere. It's just not an exact science! That's one reason it's so important to reward yourself for the positive behavioral changes you're making and not rely only on the scale for validation.

SVIET10, It may be that you're not getting enough calories. You said that you were only working out 3 times a week before the challenge. If you are now doing cardio 5 days a week in addition to the videos, you may need to adjust your calorie range. Go to your start page and click beside your calories burned goal to change it. Enter in the number of calories you burned last week and see if that changes your calorie range. If it bumps it up, you know that you weren't eating enough which can cause our bodies to stop losing weight.

If this doesn't change your calorie range, it may just be that you need to be patient. You could be building new muscle which would account for the scale not moving, but rest assured, once your body gets used to the new routine, the scale will start moving again. Consistency is key and if you stick to healthy eating and exercise you will eventually get to your goal. Good luck!

Hi Coach Denise...I'm concerned...I know that bodies plateau, but I never thought it would happen during a challenge.

Before the challenge started I was only working out 3 times a week. Since Jan 3, I've stuck with the plan every day and stuck STRICTLY to the calorie intake.....but 2 weeks and no weight loss! Also, really doing the water thing and doing my 8 glasses....

I'm puzzled, eating right, getting water in, and MORE exercise, and nothing! I know this may pass, but also want to know if WHAT I'm eating may have something to do with it.

Since this started, I've not gone over in anything, but have noticed that I usually have a lot more carbs than protein and fat....most days I am WAY under with protein and fat and about right (0, 1 or 2 left) in the calorie and fat parts.....

Could this be why I'm not loosing? Any advice! I just can't add any more workout time to my busy schedule! Thanks in advance.

ASDELONG - To be eligible for the grand prize you need to have logged at least 500 fitness minutes for the month. Fitness minutes includes cardio minutes and strength training (5 fitness minutes for each exercise).

I apologize for posting this message as I know the question I am about to ask is in the rules for the bootcamp, but I'm just not finding the post that has the rules right now. Probably not looking in right place, so I apologize in advance. My question is how many cardio minutes are we supposed to do each week to qualify to be in the drawing to win prizes? Is it 500 cardio minutes per week, or per month?

Again, sorry for the clutter. I'm sure as soon as I close this and post it I'll find the answer!

LUVNME2DAY, Try going back and changing your strength training again and see if that works. Sometimes it doesn't save when you change it and it just needs to be reset.

Yes, you can do cardio along with strength training. Your routine sounds just fine.

I am a bit confused on the strength training. I changed my streght training from full body to alternating upper and lower, but it hasn't changed. Should you do cardio everyday along with strength training. I only do 20 minutes of intense cardio since Im on a limited time, but then when I get home I have about 10 to 20 minutes to do the bootcamp workout or some strength training.

I know this question may seem silly but I bet others have at least thought it. I know that strength training will tone and strengthen our muscles and cardio will help us loose weight and get stronger all around. I already am noticing that I am better at the exercises and I can do more sets but my question is how quickly should I start to notice toning and lower measurements? Basically I feel stronger but all my measurements are still the same.

AMBUDMAN - You want the ball to be firm enough that it doesn't squish down too much when you sit on it. You can adjust the inflation for your own comfort, and it should have a little give, but should generally be very firm.

I just received my 55cm ball with my Spark Fitness Starter Set. My question is "Do you really inflate it till the plastic measuring strip (that is included) is snug around the ball. I was afraid it would pop so I made my husband stop before the band was snug, I still have a couple of inches to go go make it snug. The pump does not work very well so my husband used his air compressor. It seems to be working but I wanted to check to be sure. I am only 5' 2 3/4" and the 65cm is way to big for me. I'm doing better with the 55cm.

VRYSILLY1 - Here are some basic Bootcamp facts that will help you understand what is going on:

1. Coach Denise will post the daily workout along with a bonus (optional) challenge the day before so you will always have some time to plan ahead. Each of the daily workout videos will take about 10 minutes or less! The workouts and challenges are being posted in the Daily Workouts & Challenges Forum on the main team page.

2. The Bootcamp workout plan also recommends five 30-minute cardio workouts per week. You can do anything at all on these cardio days so that you're working at your own fitness level. You can do other SparkPeople cardio videos, your own DVD's, walking, running, fitness classes—anything goes!

3. To take part in the contest (prize drawings), you'll have to log all of these fitness minutes on the site, using QuickTrack or your Fitness Tracker. If you're not sure how to find those tools or how to use them, please click on the "HELP" button at the top of any page on the site.

ACOSENZA2 - As I recall the weight limit on most balls is 250-300. You can either modify the exercises for use without the ball, or substitute workout videos that work the same body parts but do not use the ball.

I just bought an exercise ball but it says that the weight capacity is 250 lbs. I weigh 415. I have used the ball once (tonight) to do the SYB workout but I am concerned that the ball is not safe to use. Can I skip the ball and still do the workouts, or is there a substitution for the ball. Is there a ball made for people my size?

Thanks!

One step, one sip, one choice, one pound at a time will change my life.

SABBATHGIRL - You can either substitute the printabel workouts from a previous bootcamp, available in the Sparkpeople workouts Fitness section, or check the team postings, because someone wrote down all the exercises from the videos.

JAYFORTUNA - If it doesn't get your heart rate up, it's really more activity than fitness. I think you could track it as fitness minutes, though I wouldn't put it in the cardio tracker for purposes of tracking calories burned.

Hi! I have a pretty stupid question...
Every morning I walk about 30 minutes when getting to work. The same in the evening. Can I add this to my fitness tracker? I mean, it doesn't feel like exercise at all (especially when I have to watch my step - everything's so slippery now!), but technically speaking, it IS "Walking: 15 min/km" in my cardio tracker. So, do I have a moral right to call these minutes "Fitness minutes"?

MUVFASTA, Yes you are getting credit for the videos. You are given 5 minutes toward your fitness minutes for each entry under strength training.

Hi,
Are we getting credit for the videos on our trackers? I just added the second video for today and my minutes didn't change. That's got me wondering if I'm getting credit for any of my strength training.

Thanks in advance!

ALLYBUG007 - You do not need to enter the sets and reps. You still get credit.
