With the addition of my strength training sessions and more consistent cardio sessions I have boosted my team ranking in fitness from 91 to 32. Thanks for this challenge. I'm not very competitive with others but love to compete with myself. It sounds like we have all been working hard this month! emoticon

July 26 - I walked my two dogs this evening for 75 minutes. I think we all enjoyed it. Also, I did a lower body Spark People video for 7 minutes.
July 27 - Walked for 35 mins and cooked for 60 mins.
July 28 - Day of rest but did food preparation for 120 minutes.
July 29 - Did a 4 mile walk in the morning and continued with the food preparation for 150 minutes (it was strenuous as I had to manually grind some leaves)

Soccer drills with granddaughter up and down the field. Quite the workout. Elliptical machine. Walked with daughter & 12 flights of stairs at the track. Hula hoop with grandson with weighted hula hoop. Jogged in place while watching tv. All together got in 10 miles on my Fitbit. Ended up with 238 minutes.

I am sorry to hear about your husband. My mom passed in April, and exercise really helped me deal with the grief. Just gentle walking. I had to destroy/dismantle her entire apt, so every Saturday & Sunday morning I put on my sneakers and walked to her house (about 3 miles), spent the day there, and walked home. The walking gave me time to think and remember, and the exercise helped calm me down. How was your bloodwork?

July 19 - 69 mins (Turbo Jam and strength training)
July 20 - 90 mins of walking (4.45 miles on a slow note... too hot outside)
July 21 - well deserved day of rest (as of today, I have done 2011 fitness mins this month)

I have increased my minutes a lot from last month but today I'm behind on my daily goals. I had schlerotherapy done on my legs yesterday and have to take a week off from anything intense. I also had my annual physical today which includes bloodwork so anxious to see where my levels are. I've had some symptoms but hard to know if its thyroid related or grieving the loss of my husband

I wish I could get my hands on a hula hoop in Dakar! I just may have to bring one back with me when I go to Canada in September.

I bought a hula hoop that I use while I'm watching tv in the evening. Talk about a workout! It's fun though. Between my spinning class, my hula hooping and some other floor exercises my exercise minutes really added up yesterday.

You can do triceps dips or seated triceps extensions at home. There are lots of ways to get those triceps working! I like working with my trainer because he puts me through a circuit that works all of those muscles in the upper arms. That's the hardest thing for me to do on my own.

I count anything above my normal moving. I count my gardening, and mowing. When I'm doing a bigger house cleaning, and then the regular exercise.

Yes, whatever speed you walk, as long as you're doing it! Keep up the good work. I stopped tracking my minutes on this thread but I've continued to log in my strength sessions with my trainer and my cardio. I'm actually starting to see some muscle definition in my upper arms and shoulders. Talk about motivation to keep going! emoticon

I had 2 slacker days.
Youngest had his birthday on the 3rd. and then the 4th we had his gf over.

Today though I did the nordic track for 40 min and then gardened for about the same, and did 100 situps and 30 pushups

Although we don't have Cooking and food preparation on Spark People, it does exist on My Fitness Pal. Whenever I need to check, I go on My Fitness Pal, get the data, and insert it here on SP. For example, a person who weighs 160 lbs and prepares for 60 minutes, burns 145 calories for that hour. Hey, every calorie burnt counts!

This sounds like a good way to set motivated to stay consistent. I'm in! I don't have amazing numbers to post so far this month but I do have a new workout plan with a personal trainer so my numbers should improve.

I like to aim for a minimum of 3000 fitness minutes a month. I'm in!

I've had a slow startup but from this day onward, I will increase my minutes.
