I do feel like I'm finally loosing. I was in TX for 12 days and may have acutally LOST weight.

BUT even better yet. I had bought a dress to wear to my nephew's wedding. It had felt a tiny bit tight, but I knew Shapewear would fix it. BUT the night of the wedding I didn't use the shapewear. It fit perfectly maybe a bit loose.

I felt smoking hot

Thanks for starting this challenge. I have been logging in and reading responses even though I haven't posted. It helps to see everyone else doing the same things you are! I did lose a dress size and I am proud of myself for it, hopefully I can keep it up!

This is the last week of this 3 month journey. Don't look at what you "haven't" accomplished. Look at what you have done. If you have lost 1 dress size then fabulous! I am doing a happy dance for you! If you have lost anything at all, then I am also doing a happy dance. If you have discovered what works or doesn't work for your body, then I'm doing a happy dance with you. This whole process is just that, a process. Take what you've learned/accomplished and run with it. Don't stop now. Keep moving forward in your journey to become a healthier you. If you feel up to it, at the end of the week, post what you did that helped you to keep going. Exercise strategies, recipies, motivations, etc...

I have"fallen off the treadmill" yet again. Too much travelling, eating out, celebrating - making extremely poor choices. Now am home and have to face the fact that I have even further to go on my journey than I did before. No excuses, just going on from here!

Thank God in all things!

Here we are, week 11. Only two weeks left in this challenge. This has been a difficult challenge for me. Time constraints and an injury made it more difficult however I know it can be done. Two weeks left means I can keep trying and create the habit again. Keep going team!

Well, I've gotten those 4lbs back off that during this challenge I've gained and lost and gained and lost. So, I am going to claim this challenge a HUGE personal victory!! The scale had not been moving except up for the past 9 months and it is now moving. The HUGE difference the Armour has made in my life, and all I've learned from reading the 2 Mary Shoman books at someone's urging on this team. I've had some personal fitness goals I've met as well and learned I am capable of more than I thought physically.

I'm ready to keep moving forward and make those 4lbs a PERMANENT loss.

Just a couple of weeks left of June and this challenge.....upward and onward!!!

WE CAN DO IT, team!!!!!

Blessings,
Heidi

wow, I didn't realize I've been MIA for nearly 2 weeks! And it sure is showing. Eating too much, eating the wrong things (carbs). I have kept up with my fitness, so that is helping me to keep my regain of those 4 lbs I lost early in this challenge to just those 4 lbs.

I did have a huge victory on Wed of last week. I was able to walk clear around a nearby lake. Last year when I did it, I was in bed the next day and couldn't work out hard for a week after that. THIS time, I just needed to rest in the afternoon and felt great the next day and walked all day at a homeschool convention on Friday with no issues!! I honestly believe my fibromyalgia IS linked to my hypothyroidism and since I recently changed to the natural Armour, my FM symptoms are slowly going away!

I had a TSH blood draw/test on Thursday to see how my numbers are doing after the switch to Armour 8 weeks ago. Am curious to see the results later this week.

Blessings,
Heidi

It's Week 9! I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday weekend! Last week was not a great week for me. I took the kids rollerskating and my knees did not like it one bit. So, I had to take it easy. Hopefully today I can get back on schedule. Don't give up yet, my friends. Keep pushing towards your goal. Only you have the power to do it.

A little discouraged this morning - was up 4 lbs in 2 days so went to the doctor - retaining water again!! Don't know what's going on but hoping meds-change will help. Feel so helpless when scales goes up and measurements jump too.

Well, I've had a hard week....it was daughter's college graduation with company, meals out, celebration sweets, less workouts, Mother's Day with special meals and sweets. Scale says I've regained those 4 lbs I lost. sigh.

I've quit trying to do Paleo.....it wasn't working for our family and it distracted me from a balanced healthy diet. My guts NEED the whole grains (maybe that's where the 4 lbs is temp. being stored? HA!!) and yogurt. An evening yogurt helps me sleep REALLY well.

I've been adding a few minutes to each walk 3 times a week, trying to walk for 40 minutes. Since I also have fibromyalgia, I have to very slowly increase my time and distance. I finally figured out how to create a strength training circuit on the fitness tracker...that took some time to figure out what I could do (fibro), what's best for women, what's best for hypo, etc.

Making progress!!

Blessings,
Heidi

Played Badminton on Mother's Day - almost lasted 10 minutes - next stop, tennis??? It was so much fun. Wanted to try hop-scotch and jump rope but my little grandniece said I was too old! I had forgotten how much fun it was to play outside!

Hello Week 7! How is everyone doing? In my TTAP journey, I can tell I've lost a little bit, but I haven't actually measured myself. Maybe take this week to evaluate your plan. Is it working? Would you do anything differently? Is this something that can continue to work once this challenge is over? Keep moving forward my friends. You can do it.

GAINNOMORE1, I suggest you start with Mary Shomon's websites and books. She is a thyroid patient advocate and has numerous articles that can help. I suggest you learn as much as you can about hypothyroidism, your thyroid and how it(or lack of it) affects your body which in turn will help with your weight loss journey. If you have any questions, feel free to post in any section of our team.

I continue to make adjustments to my foods and exercise per the Living Well with Hypothyroidism and The Thyroid Diet.

Quite a few of her recommendations are working for me. I've lost another 2 lbs. That's a total of 4 lbs so far!

I joined a cousin's Paleo challenge on facebook. I'm not going full Paleo, as I firmly believe in Gen 9:3, I Cor. 10:31, Mark 7:18-19, Col. 2: 20-23. However, it did give me the nudge to finally give up even my last 1 can of Diet Rite per day and this week I am learning how to eliminate pastas, white rice, etc. I guess you'd say I am eating cleaner, less highly processed foods. My family is still eating it, tho, so I am in this on my own. That makes me very thankful for SP and for this team for the support and encouragement I need!

Blessings,
Heidi

Ugh! I got into some moldy hay Sat. afternoon. With the trees blooming and leafing out, it was more than my immune system could handle! I experienced a Fibro-flare-up Sat-Mon. I tried to do strength training on Monday, but could not complete 1 whole series, let alone 2 or 3.

I felt much better this morning and took a 2.5 mi outdoor powerwalk, but now don't feel very good....like I've over-done it. Being fibro and hypo is NO fun! Either one will keep you from "going for it!"
So aggravating!

So, I guess while the tree pollen is high, I should just listen to my body and not push it this week.

Blessings,
Heidi

WEEK 5!!!! Welcome to new folks! We're glad you're here on this journey. As too the rest of you, I hope everyone is doing well and progressing in your efforts to become a healthier you.

I've decided not to weight myself anymore and stick to measurements. I have started the T-Tapp method. It's taken me a few days to learn the program and I think I've finally got it down. I'll keep all of you posted on my progress!

Took measurements Thursday am---have lost 1/4 to 1/2 inch on my waist and hips and thigh each!!

whoohooo!!!

Since muscle weighs more than fat, no more weight loss on the scale, but I'll take the inches lost (even 1/4 or 1/2 inch!!) any day!!!

Heidi

All right everyone, I'm going to try the T-Tap method (by Teresa Tapp). I recieved my book, "Fit and Fabulous in 15 minutes" and am in the process of reading it right now. Once I finish, I'm going to put her program to the test. She has extensive credentials and her programs are highly recommened by Mary Shomon. Mary just had Tereasa Tapp on her radio broadcast show which I am listening to now. I'll let ya'll know when I begin and if any one of you want to join me in putting this program to the test, either buy this book or check it out from the library. I bought it from the T-Tapp website and got a DVD along with the book. I encourage all of you to check it out and if any of you have allready done it, let us know your thoughts on her program!

On my first week. Exercising is not on my list of things I want to do with my spare time!! I know I'm not the only one who thinks this way emoticon

Thankful to hear that 10 minutes a day is better than nothing.

Visiting granddaughters this weekend, spending time chasing after a 28 month old has been my exercise!!

Life is too short to waste time hating anyone (including yourself)

Make peace with your past so you won't screw up the present.

Stay active
Get fitness done
Keep making adjustments to diet
Get 8 glasses of water in

Sun- 5 hours of gardening
Mon- fibromyalgia rest day; no workout, but did stay active.
Tue - 40 mins of strength training and 10 mins of hiking
Wed - 25 mins of indoor walking dvd
Thu- company was coming, "workout" was major house cleaning!

As strange as it may sound, after just a few days on Armour, I am feeling soooooo much better! More energy, much less brain fog. Waiting to see if it will make any difference in my monthly cycle, hair loss, and lack of weight loss.

This week has been a disaster for me. My birthday, my daughter's, my niece's bridal shower (catered by a pastry chef!), a visit with my sister, 2 Doctor's appointments out of town which required meals out. Needless to say, I have pigged out and have been derailed completely. At least I am now cleared for 10 minute walks on the treadmill so that should help me get right back on track! Still trying!!!

After a rough start to the challenge with my birthday and my son's birthday I am back on track and down another 2 pounds! My work has been crazy and I have been a lot more active there rather than sitting behind my computer all day. Every little bit of excercise helps!

Goals for this week

Read The Thyroid Diet
Doctor app't for meds adjustment
Staying active all week
Continue to make healthier adjustments to my meals and snacks
Get all 8 cups of water in

Sun- did some gardening
Mon - walked 2 miles outdoors
Tue - 30 mins. elastic band strength
Wed - 20 mins of strengthening yoga
Thur 2 mile walk outdoors
Fri - tried for the first time a strength training circuit routine.
Sat- a spring wildflower walk for 30 minutes

Weighed in-- still at 177, but at least no gain!!! emoticon

Edited after my Thursday doctor visit: My doctor has agreed to change my thyroid meds. I was only on Levo. I am now on Armour. He spent plenty of time with me to explain how he can't control the amounts of T3 or T4 with it so we'll do a bloodtest in 6weeks for TSH, T3 and T4 to see how the numbers are doing as well as to check in with how I feel. He felt I should feel better quickly since I haven't been getting any T3 supplementation for quite some time. I so appreciated his willingness to give it a try for several reasons: more natural, and since we have no insurance, it is easier to have just 1 Rx.

Now on to diet changes as goals next week.

Lost another pound this week. Breathing is easier and I am so happy. See the pulmonary cardiologist today and hopefully will be cleared for a little more exercise! Keep on pushing - If I can, anyone can!

Rbaker0502 - Welcome! Have you looked into weight loss for hypos? It's a little different for us and takes longer to loose weight, unfortunantely. I try not view this as a "diet" because really, it's more of a life/habit change. We want to loose the wieght, but more importantly, keep it off. I know that when I stop watching what I eat I can easily gain back the weight I lost which happened to me this past few weeks. I lost 4 pounds in 2 months and gained it all back. It's also a mental fight which we have to prepare for as well. Good luck and keep us updated on your progress!

Hi All - I am a newbie here at SP and so excited to get started. Since I also have hypothyroidism and am challenging myself to stick with it this time, this seems like the perfect place for me. Since being diagnosed in 2002, I just cannot seem to loose the weight. But with your help I know this time will work emoticon

This week's goals were to

Keep moving OUTSIDE!! yippeeeeee!!
Sunday - a 90 minute hike emoticon
Monday- yoga and a walk in our woods and worked in the flower beds emoticon
Tuesday- strength training, which ended up being me moving 2 compost piles pitchfork by pitchfork to a new location and into my new wooden bins emoticon
Wed- Lady's Week rest day (not workout and allowed myself a bit of chocolate)
Thurs- 20 min. strengthening yoga routine
Fri- resistance band strength training
Sat- housework---spring cleaned the familyroom

This week is my lady's week so I don't weigh myself since I've learned I retain A LOT of fluid until day 4 or so, but my clothes are fitting better!!!

Another goal was to make an app't with my doc to discuss my thyroid med.
I used to be on Cytomel and Levo. I was feeling soooo sluggish, I asked to go off Cytomel. He said ok as long as my numbers didn't change. They didn't, but I have------I've been on SP for nearly 2 years now and have lost 50 lbs so far with 30 to go. HOWEVER, my hair is getting sooooooo thin it is embarrassing, period issues (21 day cycles with lady's week acting weird, start and very heavy, stop, restart, lasting 7 days), and my weight started going back up, and the Brain Fog....OMgoodness!!! It is getting worse and worse!!!
So, anyway, today, I made that app't with my doc to discuss T3 options. emoticon I am hoping he's open to letting me try Armour for 3 months, but if not, I am willing to go back on Cytomel. I'd prefer the more natural, but we'll see.

Another goal was to incorporate some of the suggestions in the book, "Living Well with Hypothyroidism". I've started some supplements, added some yoga poses, made some changes to my diet. emoticon

Overall, it is going really well!! emoticon

I forgot to post when I measured on Sunday. I am bouncing with joy - have lost a little over 4 pounds. It may be mostly water weight but is the motivational push I needed. I have been able to walk 2 days this week so am "on a roll!" Good luck to everyone!

I have learned SO much about hypo by reading the book "Living Well with Hypothyroidism"!!

It's no wonder I've been "out of whack" for quite some time. I've got a long list of things to do differently (one at a time to see which help and which don't) and I'll be making an app't with my doc to discuss Rx and/or dosage changes, so I can try the new stuff for 3 months before my 2x/year blood work in June.

Thanks for doing this challenge---it has helped me dig deeper for more understanding and empowered me to make changes in this area of my healthy to live better and healthier despite hypo!!

Welcome Gettingslim and Brdettbarn! I'm so happy you are back for round 2!

Confession: I haven't started yet. My son had his tonsils and adnoids out and tubes put in his ears two weeks ago, but his recovery has not been ideal. I haven't gotten enough sleep and that kills my daytime productivity - so exercise is out. Hopefully he'll be able to go back to school next week and I can begin a normal program then. So, if you haven't started, it's okay! Life happens and we work around what gets in our way. The hope is to not quit when something gets hard or you can't do things physically. There are many factors to loosing weight, keep up the ones you can do and bring in the others when you are able.

I'm back with you again for this round! Had a more "relaxed" eating and exercise week at the end of March for my anniversary get-a-way and celebration. Ready to start this new goal. Even though I joined late last time, I loved being part of the goal you set. It was very helpful. I will check out the Thyroid Diet book as well.

Let's do this guys!!!

Excellent list Heidishope! As far as your fitness goals, you know your body best and do what works for you. I would assume all of us have other issues along with our hypo (if you don't yay for you!). I have bad knees and have to use braces on each knee when exercising and that limits what exercises I can do. Blah. But, we roll with it and move forward. Good luck and let us know how it works for you. You can do it!

Welcome everyone! Take this week to come up with a plan and WRITE IT DOWN. Remember everyone is different and you need find what works best for you. I’ll give you a place to get started. What is your exercise plan? Thryoid folks need strength training, but you also need cardio to loose weight. What is your meal plan? For those that don’t know Mary Shomon is a patient advocate and has written a book called “The Thyroid Diet.” I advise you to buy it or check it out from your library and it can help you get started. Also, plan for enough sleep. When I stay up too late (which happens frequently), I can’t exercise the next morning because I’m too tired and I need to conserve my energy for my family. If you’re not sure what works, try something for 30 days and then evaluate your plan. Remember loosing weight takes time but really what are we doing here? This is not another “diet.” It’s a lifestyle change. Take charge friends! You can do it!

I joined SP over 4 years ago, but only for recipes. Now I have gained over 20 additional pounds and am looking to get rid of more than 50 pounds. I need motivation from someone who knows how difficult the weight loss challenge is for me. Looking forward to this challenge, surprisingly. Loosing one dress size will give me the motivation. Can't wait to begin. I've joined. Now what's next.

If he has given me the tools to be successful in my career, then I know I he has provided me with the tools to be successful with my health and living. I just have to use what I know.

Hi,
I currently weigh 140 and hope to be between 130-135 by the end of the challenge.

Hello all! Due to requests, we are doing another 3 month challenge that will begin on April 1st and end June 30th. This challenge is meant to give support to help reach our exercise goals. Being hypothyroid can make loosing weight for difficult, but having a support group makes it a little easier. Post however much or little you want. Spark People has some great resources. There are also monthly challenges in our Team that can help with this goal. We can do this!
