Portions are good. Got a little stressed and ate chocolate. Enjoyed my treats, it was fun to see how long they could last. Communion was ok, but no did work. Trying some new exercises, going slow but the change is nice

I need to work on my weekly meal planning. Well, my weekly planning in general. The holidays have thrown me off a bit. But I will get back on track and get my feet walking in the right direction ... I will spend some time today working on my meal plan and exercise schedule.

Last night I completely went OVER BOARD and went for a long walk this morning to both wake up and to get in some much needed exercise and prepare for the events of Today... where I was very careful of what I ate and didn't eat very much as all, as last nights meal seemed to have completely saturated all my needs for at least today and probably tomorrow too.
BUT the time with family was so wonderful and saturating with love and comfort!
I am back in the pool tomorrow and going to swim this off then hit the rowing machine to totally stretch this body out.

- portions: watch your portion sizes

E
- eat: eat well and notice when you are full

A
- allow: allow yourself treats, we are living a healthy lifestyle not a life of depriving ourselves. Just be mindful of portions. Choose 1 or 2 treats and savour them.

C
- calm: take time during the hectic days to be calm, even a couple minutes alone to just deep breathe and remind yourself of your plan, your goals and to center your thoughts will help keep you calm.

E
- exercise: sure take time to do your usual walk/run or exercise routine if you want, but also remember that movement, any movement is good for us...so go outside and play with the kids, building a snowman, tobogganing, snow ball fights or just running around the house playing hide and seek...all things that are active and fun!

I'm aiming to get in shape enough to be able to hike to Havasu Falls, AZ by the summer of 2015! I hope to become a certified personal trainer and/or a nutrition coach someday!

Life doesn't come with a remote, you have to get up and change it yourself.

My plan is to get in up to 60 minutes of exercise Christmas Day to counteract any extra calories. I will eat a good breakfast of eggs and egg whites, toast and fruit, a light lunch, like a salad with lots of veggies and chickpeas, which will keep me full enough to not overeat... plus, if there is 1-2 small servings of dessert i like, I will treat myself... this plan usually works well, plus I find that if I go to somebody else's house for Christmas, I am not tempted with leftovers.

Next Sunday, I will be having Christmas dinner, and will send lots of tasty goodies home with guests, so as not to have much for leftovers.

The eating part is going to be tough. But if I should indulge it is one day. I will exercise like it is a normal day and hopefullly it will all work itself out. I have veggies and healthy foods for our get together Christmas eve...Christmas day is my hubby and I and a ham. I can do healthy that day no problem. Thank you for all the wonderful ideas.

I've done well so far with keeping active, minding portions, planning and eating healthy meals, and healthy snacking too in preparation.

For me the food pusher will be the biggest issue Christmas Day. It'll be ok though, I just have to say no about 100 times during the day.

Christmas Eve: Is just my husband and I enjoying a nice, leisurely dinner before going to Christmas Eve service at church. We will enjoy shrimp and scallops with asparagus. Since this is indulgent, we are going for the seafood more than anything else. Spend our calories on sweet goodness.

Christmas Day: This meal is with the in-laws, and I don't enjoy any of the greasy, heavy food, so my plan is to have a good protein filled breakfast late, and just have a little turkey with the greens I'll bring along. And maybe a dessert if there is anything I like. I'll eat some leftover grilled chicken when I get back home. I used to feel bad about the meal since it's all theirs, and nothing of mine gets eaten even if I do bring it. But now I see it as a blessing. It's nice to be with family, and I'm not tempted to indulge or gorge myself. It makes our Christmas Eve dinner more special.

I'll definitely make time for calm.

Merry Christmas to all!

Dear Lord, set my sights on You and Your great attributes. Help me to live in Your presence, dependent on Your guidance each day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Christmas Eve is at my Dad's and we are having a really nice roast... don't know what the side dishes are going to be but since everyone in my family are incredibly healthy eaters, I don't think the choices will be difficult... portion control is not an issue for me as I am a pretty picky eater and only have one, maybe two sides and completely bypass desserts (sugar and me aren't a good mix, especially in the evening or after a meal).
For me it's not eating my meal from the hor de overs ... they are usually really good and substantial, and I will fill completely up on munchie stuff before the meal.

Christmas Day... that is at my sister, who is a pastry chef, s house. So there are so many traditional goodness!!! She usually makes a huge frittata full of veggies, The longer I stay, the more I eat.... it's has the potential to be a horrible mess. I am usually tired (from the Christmas eve party we go to after Dad's dinner) and I didn't sleep long enough. I am comfortable with everyone that is around. And my sister is a bit of food pusher ("come on, one bit won't hurt you) sort of pusher.
THEN it is home and back to what is here which is nothing fancy and a little bit of nothing else.
the keys will be going into this holiday being fully rested, well nourished by the meals I eat in the next day a half, leaving no room for cravings as my body will have everything it needs. Then make sure I drink plenty of water- well hydrated. And make sure that I am calm and stay as stress free as possible.

Merry Christmas to all who are celebrating and to those who's holidays are celebrated at other time- Enjoy the days off from work, the company you keep and have hope for a great new year!

I will try to control my portion sizes. This will be difficult on Christmas since we're having a meal at 1PM and another one at 2:30PM. I will probably just eat less at the first one and save room for the yummy second one. Christmas Eve will just be one meal, so I should be fine there. I just need to control those portions. Also, I will allow myself some treats here and there, and not deprive myself of it and try not to feel bad about it.

My Mom still has no idea what my brother is having for Christmas Eve dinner. If he is doing like last year, a valea, I will have 1 peroge(cheese) small piece of kielbasa--mushrooms and onions--vegetable--my Mom's homemade applesauce--slice of pork roast--scalloped potatoes(few) My SIL makes homemade chocolate covered strawberries I will have 1--if there are lindt truffles 1(if I can control myself) She does all homemade baking of the cookies. If I am not full I may indulge having 1 or splitting 1 Of course this is based on last year, I have no idea what he is serving or what she is baking.

We are having a spoon roast Christmas because I bought it. Mom wanted it Mom gets what she wants. She is 86, she deserves it. Piece of meat(not my favorite) potatoes with my Mom's famous gravy, broccoli(1/2 cup), carrots(3 oz) I purchase dinner my sister cooks. That is the deal. My niece purchases Marie Callender pies. Maybe a sliver, and when I say a sliver that is what my sister gives me. She is good about it. She doesn't food push but my BIL does. If I say no whipped cream my niece loves me because she inhales the can. FYI A can of Reddi Whip 13oz is $5.49 on sale.

My food tracker is filled out for the rest of the week or will be. I will be staying around 1200-1275 calories.

I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy healthy New Year. Let's rock 2013.

PEACE Challenge

This week many of us will be celebrating, our usual routines are out the window and we are surrounded by temptation. But that doesn't mean you should give up on your goals for the week, it simply means you need to do things differently; you need to keep your goals in mind and be flexible. We have lots of options in our challenge this week - choose the ones that will help you the most.

P
- plan: plan your meals and your strategies when away from home.
- prepare: prepare healthy snacks, don't leave things for the last minute
- portions: watch your portion sizes
- pace: pace yourself, enjoy the conversations around the table and eat slowly.
- pleasure: enjoy each bite, take time to look at the beautiful setting around you and wonderful scents that fill the room during the holidays.

E
- eat: eat well and notice when you are full,
- eliminate: if you have a cookie or pie or something outside of your plan, eliminate the guilt. Enjoy the goodie and stay on plan.
- emotions: the holiday season tends to be an emotion filled time of year for many of us; pay attention to how your feeling and avoid emotional/stress eating.

A
- appetite: there is something about the aromas that fill our homes during the holidays that trigger the urge to splurge on our calories. Ask yourself if you are really hungry and then make good choices for yourself.
- allow: allow yourself treats, we are living a healthy lifestyle not a life of depriving ourselves. Just be mindful of portions. Choose 1 or 2 treats and savour them.
- acknowledge: acknowledge all the good things you do, we too quickly beat ourselves up for slipping, it is far more important to cheer ourselves on when we have done well.

C
- calories: do your best to keep track, take time before your feast to look up the calorific content of some of your favorites to give you an idea of portion and what you may be more willing to limit or eliminate from your plate to better enjoy a favorite or treat.
- communicate: this is the time of family and friends, spend less time in the kitchen and more time talking and sharing. Also, food pushing is big during the holidays, don't be afraid to say no.

- energy: be sure to get enough sleep; that will go a long way to keep your energy up and your mind energized to keep you on your holiday plan.

- ENJOY! Above all else, this is a time of celebration. Enjoy it!
