My goal was 1800 minutes, and I just made it with 1,853. I really didn't think I would have that many with all of the holiday time commitments, so I should probably thank mother nature for the snow. I think I probably got half of my minutes by taking long walks instead of jogging during the last week. Bonus: I got to enjoy all of the Christmas lights before people take them down.

Cat - you are doing awesome! Keep up what you are doing. It's what works for you. ;)

This challenge is designed for each of us to challenge ourselves and its a way to stay accountable and focused. So post your success in a fashion it makes sense to you.

When I post, its usually only a couple times a month, and I just put my goal minutes then how many completed minutes I have, with a total left to goal.

My goal is 1000 minutes + "do something everyday - strength training"
Currently I am at 332 minutes and have not missed a day strength training.
668 minutes left - which leaves me 33 minutes a day to reach goal.

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but one of love, power and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7

I just got done with a big BLC challenge for 12 weeks, so I think I'm going gear down and shoot for at least 30 minutes of exercise 5 days a week, which adds up to 150 minutes per week, or 600 minutes per month. I'll go back and check my fitness tracker since Dec 1st to post my minutes:

12/1-- 61
12/2 --91

12/4-- 64

Thank you Joette! I have a feeling some days will be easier than others, but I like your 20 minute minimum rule with no excuses. I have a Wii Fit where I can do walking in place to a ticker on the remote while I'm watching TV. I plan on using that for the rainy days!

MrsPrince.. Don't worry about your goal being lower than others. You are doing wonderful! You already know you need to start with baby steps. Your 600 minutes is about 20 minutes a day. :) that's a wonderful goal to reach for! If you create a "20 minutes everyday, no excuses" (that's my rule for me) you will be on a great path for setting lifetime habits. That's what it's all about... Making healthy habits we can do for a lifetime.

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but one of love, power and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7

I'm going to set my goal at 600 minutes for the month. I know it's a lot lower than everyone else but I also haven't been active at all the past few months so it might take some time to get back into a routine. Plus I might even be able to exceed my goal and set a higher one next month!

Dec 2 = 35 min - 565 to go
Dec 3 = 120 min - 445 to go (I cleaned and shoveled out stalls for over 2 hours today!!)
Dec 4 = 20 min 425 to go
Dec 5 = 20 min 405 to go
Dec 6 = 15 min 390 to go
Dec 7 = 20 min 370 to go
Dec 8 = 0 min 370 to go
Week Total = 230 min
Dec 9 = 10 min 360 to go
Dec 10 = 60 min 300 to go
Dec 11 = 20 min 280 to go
Dec 12 =
Dec 13 =

I think 900 mins is doable for me. Thanks to running and going to the gym consistently last month, I'm feeling/running better so I'd like to keep that going since there are so many holiday 5ks that I need to do!

Dec 1-did the Reindeer Run this morning 38:25. lousy time (but I enjoyed it), but if I keep running throughout December, I'll have a better time for the December 31st Resolution Run!

Safeharbor - if you commit to 10 minutes a day that is 310 minutes. If 5 is all you think you can do, then start there. :)

Take the long way to the bathroom and figure out how long it takes to walk there and back. Be creative with getting the minutes in. They don't always have to be consecutive minutes. ;)

Do maybe 15-20 minutes on weekends.

The goal is to start with babysteps and build from there.

My ideas behind my goal of 1000 minutes is "a minimum of 20 minutes everyday, no matter what, no excuses" if I only do 20 minutes a day it averages out to 600ish minutes. Many days I am able to get more minutes. So I stretch myself with the 1000 minutes. Didn't realize how important the 1000 minutes had become til October this year when it got to the end of the month and I realized I wasn't going to make it... I pushed myself and did it. :) was tight with the minutes this month too.

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but one of love, power and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7

What is a reasonable starting point for someone who sits at a desk 12 hours day? I usually average about 2000 - 3000 steps per day.

Wow! Has this year seemed to go by quickly? It has for me!

It's a new month! Time to renew your committment to fitness minutes. Post your goals and lets keep our bodies moving!

With the busyness of this time of year, we need to stay focused with our goals. Committing to your regular, or boosted up exercise routine may be a good way to burn off a few of those overindulgent calories we tend to be tempted with. Not to mention exercise is a great stress reliever. Sticking to your routines this month may really be a benefit.

For those that are new, this is our ongoing, monthly challenge where each of us posts a committment to X number of fitness minutes for the month. Then on a regular basis (whatever works for you) come back and post those minutes. Some choose to post daily others report back less frequently. The important thing is to keep moving. Posting the minimum of start goal and what your actual minutes reached is important. Goodies are given to those that reach their goal.

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but one of love, power and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7
