With my new job (started as a long term sub in September in EC; just signed my contract Wednesday as the teacher) I have not had the time or energy to exercise consistently. I think I have done pretty well with my eating.

This month specifically, I have only managed a few real workouts, but I do little things every day to try to stay fit (parking a greater distance from our building, taking extra trips up and down stairs, etc) I am packing my lunch and taking salads and fresh veggies (despite the cost, I have made that a priority! With the new job, I can afford to pay a little more for groceries)

My problem has come with all the parties and the extra food that people feel the need to share! Every day this week, there was some type of food put out in the staff kitchen. We had a retirement party for one of our teachers Wednesday, and my class also made candy and had their Christmas party. It is hard to resist everything, but I have tried. Snow day today, then we have our last day Monday (Tuesday for staff) before Christmas. Today was supposed to be our staff Christmas party, so I guess that will be moved to Monday too.

For every event I go to, I bring a fruit and/or veggie tray. That way, I know there will be things that I will eat. If I am involved in arranging a catered meal, I make sure that there is a big salad available with dressing and cheese on the side (my husband runs several restaurants and they have wonderful salads!)

Exercise is my biggest issue. Trying to fit it into my schedule has been very difficult. Through Christmas break, my challenge there will be that I am having my wisdom teeth out on Dec 27. Not sure how much I'll be able to do after that at first.

So far I've been doing pretty good this month. I've been successfully managing healthy eating without deprivation. I've been focusing on getting 8 servings of veggies and fruit daily and trying to up my calorie burn.

This weekend I have a mini weekend retreat planned. My challenge will be to continue eating healthy and exercising. I plan to have lots of veggies and watch the simple carbs. I plan to use the gym at the hotel to burn up extra calories! I get 10 days off of work where I need to make sure I track my food and exercise everyday. I wanna feel great for new years eve! emoticon

Getting in the exercise has been accomplished so far.The biggest challenge is the goodies staring a person in the face. Have really tried to eat extra fresh veggies when faced with temptations.
