I'm there, Shel. Actually, I was thinking that we should take this conversation over to the Accountability thread and work again on portion control, movement and liquids. I need those three right now. I'm hoping that others will find us over there since they are less likely to choose this thread. I made a turkey one recently, but used a pack of my Italian seasoned ground turkey and it was a bit off putting for me...I sure liked the one Wal-Mart used to carry. I have a lot of ground turkey still in the freezer and will try again. I sure like meatloaf.
I would eat someone else's lentil loaf...and I love lentils, but I'd be lazy and not want to cook my own. emoticon

I did ok while at Mom's but was sick Tuesday with sugar over 325 all day, until 8:00 PM and it was finally down to 192. I've ordered some books from Amazon.com on Diabetes and pray I find a program/plan I can glom onto, and stop hurting myself!!

I saw a recipe on spark for a vegetarian loaf made with lentils and brown rice which could probably also hit the spot. It's all in the seasoning, which DD and I know how to use well! Shel

Oh, i can feast on leftover turkey in the form of warm-ups or sandwiches for a while - i usually don't tire of it till it's gone!
I do have my go-to breakfast things that I switch up every couple days or so - depending also on what's available in the house. But if we have leftover meatloaf (which DD doesn't make often) I love a cold sandwich with ketchup and a cup of skim milk! Shel

Kim, I do the same thing and am ok with it...when I make my soup, I'll eat some for 5 days or so. I don't want to (or like to!) cook every day and it's just for me anyway.

I'll be at Mom's after work today and will be home for our Wednesday Weigh in....see y'all there!

Hey, gals. I'm not going to worry about tracking right now. I have an idea of what is in my range and I pretty much eat the same thing day to day - LOL. I was watching Dr. Oz the other evening (although I take what he says with a grain of salt, some of what he says is logical) and he had an actress on there who's name escapes me and she too eats the same thing for about a week or two, until she is bored, and then she'll change it up! I'm glad I'm not the only boring one! Or is that lazy??? Nope, I just like what I like! Love ya

Yes staying busy helps!

I'm having a good day here at the office and will stay on my feet enough to get a couple of chores done when I get home this afternoon. I too, am aiming to stay on track and within limits, Shel emoticon

I want to get my salad containers done up this evening so I'll actually eat it! When it's laying around in the veggy bin...I forget about it.

I tossed the rest of my taters and stuffing...so I'd stay out of it. It wasn't totally "delicious" and certainly wasn't a healthy choice for me...
I had 4 pieces of candy and my FBS was 252 this morning. emoticon I knew it was "trouble"...now I know how much.
BUT...as long as my list is for things to "leave alone" ...my "enjoy and be blessed" list is way longer!! emoticon emoticon God is so good, merciful, loving, forgiving and I praise Him!

Good going Shel!
I actually measured my lunch stuff for the first time in too long....and used a smaller plate. I didn't have turkey, so my ground chicken breast cooked with garlic and onion was a fill in...I made stove top stuffing, green beans and mashed taters and turkey gravy...(country crock type taters)
Dessert was FF key lime pie yogurt with light cool-whip and walnuts.

Later... emoticon more taters...gotta stop emoticon

My exercise was the walking, cleaning, doing laundry...and I have some more to do today...I'm going to start with three things daily in each area...surely I can DO that? emoticon

I put you down at 250 Kim...but that's ok..that .2 might be gone already. emoticon

I got into the tater bin yesterday and as bad as it was, it could have been worse...so today I'm doing damage control and have got to get the sodium thing down. My BP was 155/101 this morning emoticon but the FBS was 190...hooya! Under 200 for the first time in weeks... emoticon

My timer went off...gotta go get my stuff from the dryers...

Wow, I can't imagine eating the beans in the raw! Imagine the antioxidant benefits that would have - but the bitterness would drive me away! Me and bitter do not get along!

Wow, insomnia struck last night. I went to bed at 2:45 because I thought it would be a good idea. Fell into a fitful sleep about 4:45 and got up around 7. Never fell into a good sleep, I was too cold. I think the shot did that to me. I had my heated blanket on, but it never got warm enough. I feel tired, but not like I can go to sleep tired. I'm pretty sure that it's the steroid they shot me up with. I think this happened the last time I had the facets done too and I took the sedative. I slept for a couple of hours in the afternoon, but that doesn't usually keep me from sleeping at night. Oh well, we will eventually fall asleep.

I was up to 250.4 this morning. Yesterday's weight was 248.8. I did eat out yesterday and shared an egg nog shake with Wade and had a double burger. I didn't eat well, but not 7000 calories worth - LOL!!! I reckon eating poorly could also have something to do with not sleeping well too. Pile it all up together and you get insomnia.

Good plan Kim...and staying alert, focused and thankful....helps. Since I did my "dinner" at Mom's last week...I should be good to go here this one.

I've seen the commercials with the lady looking for the best beans for the chocolate and peeling one of those pods open and grinding the beans. It's a commercial for Kashi bars...I can't imaging seeing them where they grow, Shel! Amazing adventures you've had!

I wouldn't track on Thanksgiving, but do use portion control and moderation. Stop eating before you are full!!! Instead of filling your plate to overflowing or bulging, take a spoonful of several things that you like and feel good by the end of the meal. No regrets!

Shel, that's what I used to do. I would get the 70% or 80% Cacao and eat one square a day, usually in the evening. The dark chocolate is not as sweet as the milk chocolate and lasts much longer on the palate!

I get a lot of potassium on the days I eat my veggies emoticon I've been really lax in the fruits tho...I'll work on both of those.

Shel, you have more dicipline (as does Kim) than this old girl! haha
I'm more like my Mom, who fought to hold on to a big bag of Bridge mix once. She had more strength than I'd have thought, and she won. She was taking the whole bag with her instead of a "portion"...I fear we both... uhm... have the attitude that "a portion is however much I'm inclined to eat" sometimes. Terrible habit. emoticon

I'm off to work in the kitchen...and get myself together...

Perhaps instead of potassium supplements I should just buy one of those gigantic bars divided into little squares and eat one every so often!

It has been difficult to keep in my calorie range, but I've been managing not to go over by much if I do, for the most part - the scale may not be dipping as quickly as I'd like, but it's been steadier going down than popping up. I may not track on Thankgiving, although I will try to use some self control. After all, I don't like hurting after I eat! Shel

Magnesium is what I take to help ward off my headaches. I am surprised how well it works for that. I take the topirimate (the generic of Topomax) which robs me of magnesium, so I supplement it. On the days I don't take my magnesium I am more likely to get a headache. I take the supplements for all the things that my meds rob me of, I've learned from this one that it does make a difference.

My PLAN was good for today, but I et about 200 calories over. Mainly because, while I had planned to cut back to just half a grilled cheese, my DD made the whole thing...and it SO-O-O hit the spot. I learned avocados are also good sources of magnesium. Shel

I had my lunch instead...a baked tater and green beans. I tried to cook my collards in one of those steamer bags and it just didn't work! Not enough moisture and they were dry and crispy...ick. I had the can of no salt added green beans in the cabinet, so ate those instead~

We do now Kim!
After IE quit on me on Saturday, Zach set us up Monday with the Google Chrome, as it's what he uses on his lap top and desk top in his office. Now that I'm learning my way around on it, I will like it! Sharon had about 40 personal favorite spots saved on the other...which is too much and was concerned she couldn't have 'em all...well we don't need too much "personal" stuff going on the office computer! I'll limit mine...since it's uhm embarrassing when the boss does have to mess with it and sees all our "junk"! emoticon

You go Shel! I need to be moving...I talk when I need to walk! Right now I'm out of commission but there's always something that CAN be done!

You have Google Chrome rather than Internet Explorer? I loved Google Chrome on our lap top! I will probably put it on the desktop at some point too. We have IE 8 as well as Windows 8. Windows 8 is very weird. I usually just go to my desktop and that gives me my tool bars which I am used to working with. I'm just not tech savvy enough to use the W8. It changed up my Open Office word processor too, so now I can't underline each week's sermon that I am transposing, I have to put in the new date and then go back and put in five stars to separate each sermon, otherwise it puts a line between each one that can't be erased - strange.

I have been eating to keep my tummy calm. I think the only thing that I am lacking in is protein. I am getting most of my fruits and veggies, and most of my liquids too. I am not moving as much as I thought I would either - shame on me! At least I didn't today. I have walked around the yard with Wade and Jake each day this week, and done my moving instead of standing still when waiting for stuff, but not as much as I thought I would of walking and things like that. I even bought some five pound weights, but haven't used them that much! Gotta get on the ball! I am losing weight and for that I am grateful.

Whoa, where is everyone?
Mine was the last post on the 11th!

Thanksgiving - I live in an era when we have this technology available to track...and by the grace of God - His UNMERITED favor - I have my own computer and internet access so I can do it at home, and I am also presently working in a computer lab so I can do it at work as well!

I added magnesium to my tracker when my daughter mentioned needing supplements.
I've been managing to keep things high that should be, and low that should be, FOR THE MOST PART. High challenges are fiber and potassium; low is mostlysodium with occasional forays into cholesterol (especially when I feel like having an egg.)

But the trackers are SO HELPFUL (hence the thanksgiving). Shel

Thanksgiving - I live in a country where I can still meet openly with other believers. God bless America!
Tracking - I was all right yesterday but then went a bit over when had some hot cocoa and forgot to enter it until later. I also ate the bitty tangerine my grandson had peeled and decided he didn't want.
Sodium was over AGAIN - it is SO difficult because it's already added to so many things.
I haven't done exercises yet today but will do so after both church services. I found some SEATED exercises on the Spark videos, and of course I'll get on my bike. And before bed I'll do the strengthening exercises for my knees to prep for surgery. It may not be for several months (God willing - I'd prefer to do it in the summer!) but it doesn't hurt to start! Shel, I checked out your video and then ended up going on a video rampage! I watched one of my favorite songs too by Michael W. Smith, not sure of the title, but the chorus is: "Like a rose, trampled on the ground, You took the fall, and thought of me, above all!" That just tears me up.

That is my praise for the day, that the scale was down. I am also praising the Lord that my stomach has calmed down and I haven't had any more pain or cramping for the last couple of days after eating normally.

I love my tablet, I play games while watching TV, that keeps my hands busy so I don't want to snack! I hope that you knee feels better soon. When are you going to have your surgery?

I didn't track today, but I did eat well. I had all of my fruits and veggies. Did some exercising. I didn't get all of my liquids in though, even though I did have my water out by my chair!

I was so thrilled when I got on the scale this morning. And it was not without a fight. I had stayed up watching tv last night, and often that becomes a dangerous time as I think I'd like a little something. But my knee was bothering me so much I didn't want to go thru the trouble of going to get a snack! (ALL things work together for good!) And so I stayed in my limits, not only in calories, but in cholesterol and sodium and that stuff! emoticon Shel

Kim, I think that's a great idea...as praise is part of our purpose. I went lax in the memory verse department, tho the few I have in my heart do get used! I need to dig deeper and go further in my relationship with my Savior.
On the weight loss efforts...checking with your Doc is a good plan. You stay on track so well and should be seeing results. Unlike this one emoticon who plays in the ditch too often and doesn't mind very well. I'm making an effort to change my pit jumping habits!

Nope, this is the end of the Holiday Challenge so we just keep coming here! We do have a praise thread somewhere out there. We should find it and put a sticky on it if it doesn't already have one - or we can start a whole new thread if y'all would like to - but for the rest of the duration of this challenge you can share your Thanksgivings here!

Me, I am thankful for my husband. Yesterday he did a ton of laundry and he even did my part - the folding and putting away! Wade does a lot of stuff around the house because my back prevents me from doing much of it, and he never ever complains. He knows I feel guilty that he carries more than his share of the load and he never lets me feel it. One thing I make sure never happens - no one, not even Wade, is allowed to talk down about my husband! He is God's incredible gift to me and I won't let anyone say anything negative about him! Thank You, Jesus!

I thought I would be over today, but I just tracked and I was in on everything and on the lower end of my calories! Yeehaw!
Cal: 1357; Bal. all in; Fiber 20; sat fat: 7

Exercise: arms; walk in place; used up 106 in calories

I got a heart rate monitor watch on Thursday so I tried it out today. I like my old one best, but it just up and quit on me - boohoo! This one is a Polar, same as my other one so I am expecting it to do really well. Wade and I were trying to figure out how the calories would work since my heart medicine suppresses my heart rate. I can't get it up to an aerobic level unless I push too hard. But when I was lifting the weights it did get up to 111. It is so strange, but when I do strength training with my arms, that causes my heart rate to jump higher than anything else. I was frustrated because I know that I am using more calories than I am taking in, and have been for quite some time, but I am not losing weight - there has to be a reason for that. Even if I didn't do any exercising at all - my BMR is 1719 - so if I was a slug and didn't move out of my chair to at all, I would be expending more energy than what I was taking in because my calorie intake has been under 1500 for weeks. But I do expend other energy. My expenditure is at least 2100 a day - so I am using up 700 more calories a day than I am taking in, and oftentimes even more than that - therefore I should be losing one pound a week - but that isn't happening! WHY!!!??? Who knows? Some days I think starving myself is probably the only way it is going to happen. I know, it isn't the healthy way to do it - but the healthy way isn't working! I reckon I am just going to have to be a healthy fat lady - but that's just it, I'm not healthy - I'm a wreck! Well, not a wreck with fat things, but some of the things that are wrong with me would be better if I wasn't fat (like my back) - but I can't lose this weight! Arghhhh! Oh dear, I need to stop this, I am getting dizzy going around in this circle! I suppose I need to talk to my doctor and see what she says. She's on maternity leave until February, so I will see then.

I think the hardest thing to control is the sodium! I have readjusted my plans for today and tomorrow multiple times. I am not only trying to track all my calories, but also watching what's going INTO them. Since I take a diuretic, I want to be sure to have enough potassium - BUT NOT TOO MUCH. As a woman, i want to have enough iron - BUT NOT TOO MUCH! "Will THIS work? Will THAT work?" I told my daughter I think I'll broil up a batch of seasoned skinless chicken breasts and cut em in 3 ounce portions and individually freeze em so I can just grab one when I want one. Sound like a plan? Shel

I am finding that maintaining the exercise helps to avoid the weight going up even if I go over my calories...so I am sure once I manage to stay in my range (and I WILL by God's grace!Ii CAN do all things through Christ) the weight will begin to drop more. Last night my daughter made a yummy stew of turkey sausage and such (it's posted in the spark recipes) and since it wasn't ready for supper I had it for breakfast...think I'll have some for lunch too!Shel

Yes it was Kim! I don't want to do that again.

Today has been calm, quiet...and restful. I had lunch at 11:30, got a nap later and am ok right now. Yep...I am aware of the dangers and I need to heed the signs. emoticon

Back on track today and no derailing...
