Well, ladies, the Aug. challenge is over. Lots of ladies must have participated and not said anything because we blew the number out of the water. Thanks for being a part.

God bless, Kim

I got in 10 C of water yesterday. I'm trying to wean me off the ice, but I sure like it. Costwise, it's a bit much at $2.16 for the small bag 3x a week. emoticon If I can make me take some from home, I could save that $6.50 a week for other stuff. I'll get the tater off the couch and do that! I can empty my trays and refill in less than 5 minutes...

Thanks my friends! I'm better this morning and lookie here! It's September 1st already! emoticon Means cooler temps are on the way and I can play outside.

Have a blessed day ladies...Got rope. I want to tie me in the wagon.

Thanks Doll...for the encouragement. You and Kim both are SO good at that! Plus all the tips I borrow... emoticon I did feel pretty awful I got up at 3:45 this morning and my arms were even red...I guess from the BP? I'm doing good right now, tho I did take meds...my metformin/glyburide mix and a diazyde, that will help with fluid and BP...

Neon signs: LOL...I did one for myself and Mom on bright pink cardstock Kim! Hers said "remember PM meds!" and mine was "Remember PM BS checks!"

You did good...I think I got 3 veggies, no fruit yesterday and trash for dinner. emoticon emoticon

As a result...the weight was up (fluid), BP was 156/115, HR 87 and FBS 273. Wasn't that FUN? Nope...I need a boot and a noodling. emoticon

I'm done, the month is done and tomorrow I am back at the starting gate for round 100... emoticon I'll see ya'll there! emoticon

Got in my fruits and veggies today, all in my smoothie! Had oatmeal and bars otherwise. Not sure what my snack will be. Tummy did good today. I was really swelled up last night, especially my right leg. I haven't been getting enough water - I gotta make myself drink it, and I just keep forgetting. Perhaps a sign in neon letters will help - LOL!

Talk to y'all later. Love ya, Kim

That would be cause for confusion!! The NEED for that shot, NOW...September. OH...that feels like a long time off when in pain. emoticon

I did better (not good tho) while at Mom's. I picked up some veggies and fruit for her while shopping and told her they need to be eaten up before I come back.

I need a boo(s)t...back in the wagon. I'm gonna go spend 15 minutes in the kitchen, sorting, tossing and hiding stuff. I'll get my lunch done up while in there too, for work.

Take care my friend...

Well, I am official confused! Tues. is the cardio doc, not the pain doc. The pain doc is in Sept. I wish it was Tues. I could use another shot on Tues.

Today was a so-so day. I'm pretty sure I was in my calorie range, but I didn't get all my fruits and veggies again - well, I suppose if I drank a glass of V8fusion I will get them all in - yeah, that will work. I'll do that for my snack tonight.

Tummy just has done me in! Oh well. Love ya, Kim

God bless, Kim

I use Clif and protein bars as Breakfast on occasion and they do have good stuff packed in them. I keep some at the office. I bought a small milk for my cereal yesterday, got busy and didn't have it, so my milk is still there. I need to form the habit of eating breakfast at home before work.

We will agree in prayer for a positive outcome for this new Dr. Kim~ God will go before you to prepare the way. Like He does with us all...he even holds me so I don't squirm and squeal (too much)

Today I'll get to the fridge, since I didn't get it done after work as planned. It's back to the basics today.

Hey gals, my plan has changed. I didn't stick with it today because I didn't get all my fruits and veggies in. I have no idea what happened at lunch - I had baby carrots, a pudding and a Luna bar. I used a olive oil and balsamic vinegrette as a dip for my carrots not even using a teaspoon altogether (cuz they didn't really taste good together) - and my tummy didn't like it - hmmmmm?!? Now what could bother it in that? Oh well. I did a pineapple, milk, coconut creme, and a dash of vanilla smoothie for dinner and a clif bar. I know the bars don't bother me and they do have nutritional value - yes, they are processed - but they do have added nutrients and protein and more importantly they don't hurt my tummy. Usually when my tummy goes bad I do yogurt, pudding, applesauce and stuff like that - so I'm glad that it is allowing me cereal, these bars and my smoothies - that way I am getting my fruits and veggies and the protein in the bars. Not ideal, but better than it used to be.

I go in Tuesday for a shot and meet my new pain doc. I sure hope he is better than the last one. All he has to do is ask me how I am doing and I will be thrilled - how simply is that? LOL!

You ladies have an awesome weekend. Love ya, Kim

God bless, Kim

Well emoticon ......do you all realize it's the 25th of the month already? I have been SO off base and wandering about, pit jumping, ditch wading and noodling around ALL month! I am embarrassed.

God allows U-Turns, and is faithful always. I have GOT to get my hiney in gear. I'll be 60 in a few months and have been acting like a rebellious kid. emoticon

I cleared out my old charts and am starting fresh.....and will sit on my hands from 6-10 PM.

I'll look into that. Thanks for the tip. I'd bought green bags several years ago because of the nanner ad...didn't make MY nanners last longer. I have tomatoes and fruit that waste away as well...so if I can keep 'em fresh longer, it would cut down on my waste of my lovely produce!

Oh yum! I waste too many cucumbers. I love the baby ones and get those for my salads often, but don't use 'em quick enough. Do you think the "green bags" would help? Your garden delivered a rich bounty, Missy!

I'll send the recipe to you...it's simple yet really good...

I have turkey burgers in my freezer too. I learned to like them long ago. I usually cook mine on my GF grill. It's an aquired taste, but I love it now...and yep, it's cheaper than beef. Wal-Mart carried briefly, a turkey meatloaf that was wonderful. I may have been one of just a very few who bought it? They stopped having it. I'd only bought and devoured two...and couldn't get 'em anymore. I'll have to make my own.
I've used the Barilla noodles before and they are really good. I like the fettucinni ones for my stir frys. I like the curly or bow tie for some things....I use cappallini in my broccoli soup...with garlic and onion, red pepper flakes and chicken broth, topped with a bit of parmesan. Yum..makes me want some.

I am praying this session of headaches ends quickly, Kim. You track down possible culprits quickly...just wish the pain passed that way!

Missy, I fondled a package of tofu when I found the marked down tofu bacon! emoticon It's not as expensive as I'd thought it might be, but I didn't get it...it's still a New Frontier for me...now those Boca chicken patties were Very good...I would buy those and the burgers again. emoticon I want to incorporate more veggies into my meals...as I really love 'em!

Y'all Have a blessed day and take good care of you...I'll do the same at my place!
Hugs,
Bren

Okay, my bad - sorry! (About the fat, I misunderstood). Missy, I love you sweetie-pie.

I used to buy a lot of ground turkey, but it just didn't taste right in stuff and Wade didn't like it either, but it was a lot cheaper than hamburger! I did buy myself some turkey burgers rather than eating hamburgers because of the saturated fat content - they aren't nearly as good, so I have a couple that sit in the freezer waiting for me to get up the nerve to eat them - maybe I'll cut them up and put them in a salad!

I like Barilla noodles. I actually prefer the whole grain noodles to the regular, they have more body to them. I don't eat noodles very often anyway. I don't really like spaghetti unless it's made with penne or zitti or something like that, but Wade likes regular, so that is what we usually have - well, we bake it.

Had a migraine yesterday AM and then a bad one in the PM. Was up until around 5AM. Got out of bed around 9AM. It was the coffee with caffeine that I drank to try and help reduce the tension in the headache which probably kept me up! Oh yeah - LOL! Wee shots of pain today which I hope stay just that. I have no idea whatsoever could have caused it. I did get some water from the outside faucet and there was some fungus and mold nearby and I am very allergic to mold - but I didn't have any kind of allergic reaction and I didn't touch the fungus or mold - so I don't think it was really that. Ah, something new I did eat, was raspberries..... Mom gave us some fresh ones and I put some in my smoothie both two nights ago and last night - hmmmmm! I put four in two nights ago and about six last night. Oh man, I bet that's it! That is the only different thing that I have eaten. I will have to look it up and see if it is on a list of triggers.

God bless, Kim

I am being very careful today Missy! I put my shoes on early this morning for support...glad you are better. It takes an instant to some serious damage and we don't wanna do anymore!

I did get two packs of a differnt pasta...Dreamfields, and an HEB brand, of mulitgrain...to try.
NOW...I'll stay out of the store awhile. It's hard for me to go in for just trash bags...as once I start prowling, my cart starts filling emoticon

Hey Ladies...
Kim, the whole grain spaghetti is Ronzoni whole grain. I'll do that when I shop again. (different types) I may go with the blends for awhile. Like Dreamfields or something that isn't so course and uhm...stiff?
As I said, I don't have pasta often, but I want to enjoy it when I do! I have learned to NOT cook a whole pot, so I guess that's good.

Missy, I thought the ground turkey I had was breast, but only one package was. I love the stuff and will eat it up. I ended up making turkey chili with the two packs I had thawed yesterday. I'll put it in my one cup containers today for the freezer. It was some older stuff I needed to use up first. I contemplated turkey meatloaf, but did the easier of the two choices. emoticon

I felt my foot turn when going dowstairs at the Library yesterday...eeek! Don't want trouble.
Speaking of, have you bounced back from your fall, Missy?

Have a blessed day y'all...
Bren

Bren, try different brands of pasta. They aren't all made the same and so they will taste different. I watch America's Taste Kitchen and they were doing a tasting on whole grain pasta just this paste weekend and that was something that they mentioned, how different the processing was.

I have noticed something just today as I was clipping my fingernails, well two things - my nails are growing much faster and the dark halo that I had is mostly gone. Woohoo!

Missy, our bodies need a certain amount of fat, especially the good fats. I keep watch over my saturated fat and allow for 15g or less a day. Fat is not bad. I found this after Googling about fat:

General guidelines for choosing healthy fats
With so many different sources of dietary fat—some good and some bad—the choices can get confusing. But the bottom line is simple: don’t go no-fat, go good fat.

If you are concerned about your weight or heart health, rather than avoiding fat in your diet, try replacing saturated fats and trans fats with good fats. This might mean replacing some of the meat you eat with beans and legumes, or using olive oil rather than butter.

Try to eliminate trans fats from your diet. Check food labels for trans fats. Avoiding commercially-baked goods goes a long way. Also limit fast food.
Limit your intake of saturated fats by cutting back on red meat and full-fat dairy foods. Try replacing red meat with beans, nuts, poultry, and fish whenever possible, and switching from whole milk and other full-fat dairy foods to lower fat versions.
Eat omega-3 fats every day. Good sources include fish, walnuts, ground flax seeds, flaxseed oil, canola oil, and soybean oil.
How much fat is too much?
How much fat is too much depends on your lifestyle, your weight, your age and most importantly the state of your health. The USDA recommends that the average individual:

Keep total fat intake to 20-35% of calories
Limit saturated fats to less than 10% of your calories (200 calories for a 2000 calorie diet)
Limit trans fats to 1% of calories (2 grams per day for a 2000 calorie diet)
---------------------------

God bless, Kim

I have a lot of good stuff in there that I will use, and when I re-stock in December (when we get our bonus) I should have a better grasp of eating well and behaving myself. I am SO sorry for the time I've wasted, but I can't undo a thing I've done or rewind the choices I've made that got me here. God's mercy covers a mutlitude of sins, and I want to give Him less to cover in the future.

Positive note: Fbs was 179 this morning! emoticon and I am working my shoulders...have been having pain in both and googled some exercises to do for them. This week's focus is "arms"... emoticon

I had my left over spaghetti for lunch, and sure enough, the noodles were "better" than last night. emoticon Those meatballs are worth bragging about. I got them on sale a few weeks back at United for $2.00 a package. They are Honeysuckle white turkey ones and really delicious.

Since today is my half day, I didn't bring snacks and stuff, as I do have a yogurt and protein bars if I really "need" something before I get home this evening.

Boss caught me in shorts! emoticon At least I had my face and a decent shirt on. emoticon

Heehee...thanks for that visual! I will do it. I'm gonna go meet up with Jesus and get His input for the week ahead. I'll be back...

I did have and don't "like" yet...whole grain spaghetti last night with turkey meatballs. The meatballs were great...that noodle thing will take getting used to. I don't have pasta often but when I do, I will have the whole grain until I DO like it. emoticon

He will definitely do that, but the ultimate choice is yours, and I know you can do this. Think about what you would tell your Mama or someone else you love in your situation, then do that for yourself. Love you!

You did good Kim...sharing is a good thing and it does deduct from any damage possibly done! emoticon Other than my sandwich uhm binges at night, I've done fairly well. Am getting my veggies in and I have plums for tonight so will get a fruit. The light bologna and turkey ham are in the freezer so I will be reasonable tonight. Maybe wg pasta with turkey meatballs and sauce and added veggies?

I am working to get the sugar back down, as it's been really awful all week. When I checked this morning it was 245 emoticon I just checked for my "before dinner" and it's 156. Normal* is between 70 and 130 before meals according to the info I read. God will help me in my quest for obedience... emoticon

Last night and this morning I was out of plan. I did choose a grilled chicken sandwich with my fries; and I shared said fries with Jake - oh, and did I mention sugary sweet drink? Wow, it's been at least five or six months since I've had one of those. That's what happens when you order a combo. LOL! I shared a monster muffin with Jake this morning - pumpkin. The rest of the day I'll be on.

God bless, Kim

With me uhm lazyness in the kitchen, someone could slip in here and cook for me? emoticon Actually, I think I'll be more inclined to do it more when the weather cools down, and then of course once I start, it will be easier to "repeat"...

I got SP's vegan recipe book for my Kindle...will take a look at it later. There's some good info at www.livestrong.com as well and I kinda like the semi veggy, where I can eat milk and cheese... emoticon

For now I'll just cut WAY down on some things. I rarely have red meat, but I sure like my turkey and chicken! This will be an interesting and beneficial "experiment"... emoticon

I know Bren, I was buying reduced sodium turkey meat about a month ago..for my boys..thinking hey it is low sodium it shouldn't be to bad...so I asked the lady how much sodium...she said 580...WHAT??? so I don't buy that no more either...I make sure my sweet kids eat good too:)
Yes, reminds me of a good hymn...I Surrender All...we would be so much happier...if we did...sometimes it is hard...but I believe through faith we can! that is the only way I can get through...when I start trying on my own....down I go....
May we give everything to him today...Bless the Lord All my Soul:):):)

Your veggy meals sound SO good, I am inclined to google for ideas and tips. I think there's even a vegan pyramid available. Yep the bread part is the problem I'm having at the moment. I tossed the rest of my turkey breast lunch meat emoticon after reading the label...only 45 calories a slice but 500 mg. sodium! emoticon I really must start taking a pair of glasses when I go shopping...anyway, the bread is whole grain white...not a good choice for me as it's it's soft, fluffy, yummy and I'm on overload.

I was crazy last night....again. emoticon and again this morning (1:20 AM) I am planning to behave TODAY. Charles Stanley says each morning when he wakes, he says "Lord, I surrender my entire life to You, for this day". I printed that out in BIG letters, and put a copy here in front of my computer and a copy in my day planner. I WILL get this obedience thing down! Practice, practice, and more...until it becomes automatic. emoticon

Lord, please empty me of self will, and fill me with Your spirit.

Hi Honey Girl...you WERE alone! emoticon At Camp Accountability it was just me and Kim running around 99% of the time and we just finally went AWOL. emoticon I think I need to rejoin.

You are doing SO well with the vegan eating and finding great recipes even the kids will eat and like. That's a good thing.

I did really awful at Mom's...there's mostly snacking going on so she doesn't want meals, and if she doesn't want to eat, I don't wnt to cook. So neither of us did. I had maybe 4 veggies and 1 fruit while there. I'd taken tomato and spinach and peaches, or I'd not have had those.

Today is a new day and I will once again dust off the dregs of yesterday and get up and boogy on.

Be blessed...and know we are treasures to our Father in Heaven!

Lord, please empty me of self will, and fill me with Your spirit.

You are one smart cookie! After reading your post yesterday I did a google search for low sodium stir frys and printed a couple of recipes to try. One for sauce...In the past, I'd cut up a really big bowl of assorted veggies, to have ready. I'd toss about 3-4 handfuls in my wok and cook with a bit of sesame oil...to have with rice or noodles. That's when I discovered I could eat 1/2 cup of rice and it felt like a lot when loaded with veggies. I didn't whine so much about brown rice used this way. I like beans and rice as well...so got some mileage from a pot of rice.

I'll finish packing for Mom's this morning. I told her last time, that I was going to pare down and travel lighter...I look like I'm moving in whenever I go...my travel bag on wheels, my heavy bookbag, 2-3 bags of stuff for her. I'm aiming for my travel bag and ONE bag for her.
This round it will still be 3 bags of stuff, but two are Bubba's and my Day planner and Kindle etc. will go in the travel bag. So I'll get there soon. emoticon

Coming in the door at the office this past Wednesday, after emptying the cooler...I slammed into the door with my right arm. It hurt badly, I have a nasty bruise and I think it threw me out of alignment. Both arms have been hurting, my back more so than usual and this morning when I put my hand on the door, above my head, I had sharp pain in my elbo to my shoulder~
emoticon I am right handed so I pray this doesn't get any worse...in fact I'm praying for complete recovery!

I'm gonna finish up mail, then hunker down in the Sanctuary...be blessed this new week, Ladies..you will be in my prayers daily, and thanks so much for those for me! Love and hugs...
Bren

Wow...now that I could get into for sure! emoticon I haven't had Chinese food in several years, other than my at home stir-frys. I love General Tso's sauce, garlic ginger, chili sauce...tho I use the lower sodium soy sauce, they all pack a whollop on sodium, and sugar in most cases. Good for you, finding a good substitute recipe.

Yes...Bren obedience and sacrifice...pay off for sure:):)
One thing I will miss is my Chinese!!! Our family is a huge fan!!! I found a recipe of one of our favorite dishes...and cut the sodium from 3000 to 400..and the calories from 1200 to 300...and instead of 40 grams of fat...only 11...so a much healthier version...and it was delicious!!! Loved the broccoli:):)
Drank lots of water today:) Love my water:)

I have a bag of freezer goodies for my brother and a small box full of canned goods, rice mixes etc. My freezer will look like it's supposed to when I am done, and have the room to breathe that it needs.

Oh poo...I know you're right, but I don't like it.... emoticon I would however, like the results of obedience and sacrifice! emoticon

Diane, that was a great devotional...Thanks for the post. Oh I sure hope you are feeling better and that was good, that you didn't have to do the cake as bad as you felt. Hugs...and Happy Birthday to the Big Boy...

I eat mostly ground turkey, chicken, fish and I do use bacon in my beans. I use dairy, very few eggs...and when I am being naughty...chicken weenies and turkey sausage, and a little pizza tossed in the mix and oh yeah...ice cream. I like just about any veggy or fruit.

Kim, I too, strive for balance...tho I miss the mark too often. I'm not quitting or giving up.

That was taken at the trail where I walk...it is a squirrel..lol...you can see it's big bushy tail if u look close...hehe....
Kim, the book i am reading...The Doctor...said the same thing u said Patients say it must be genetics..he challenged them to go Vegan and their cholesterol levels dropped...not saying it is or isn't with you ...though..cause indeed some are...
You would not die...on a vegan diet..seriously...there are so many recipes you can do..that are absolutely delicious! Meat is where the cholesterol comes from...and many oils also...etc...
I want to make my way to 100 % vegan...eventually...
but each to their own..hehe...I just want to be healthier...:) aww...sorry bout the doggie..I rode 5.6 miles on my bike this evening...walked 1.5 miles...

LOL! I finally saw the bird in your picture, Missy! I was wondering what your picture was about! I am very careful with my fat and watch my saturated fat especially. I eat very little beef and most of the chicken I eat is white meat without skin or bones. I've been eating this way for about three years, as well as whole grains and still my cholesterol has gone up some, so we are thinking that it may be genetics. I eat very healthy and rarely eat out. I would die on a vegan or even close to vegan diet because there are just too many veggie I will not eat and many I cannot eat. I just believe that a person needs balance and that includes meat and dairy - but, each person also needs to do what they believe the Lord has called them to do.

Oh man, my MIL just called and told me that Libby, my BIL's dog died this afternoon. She had a cancerous tumor removed about a month ago and she'd been sleeping a lot lately. She was a real sweetheart. She was the one who gave Jake what for when they brought her here to the house - she backed him off his own toy with just a look. I'll miss her. emoticon

love y'all

God bless, Kim
