That's what keeps me going too. Knowing that God is aware of all the details and has us in His hands and that His grace sustains us even in the darkest days. His peace will quiet our spirits and calm our fears and we can trust Him absolutely.

I am so blessed! I too, am so glad to be feeling better and am so thankful for those who sorta had to push me (yourself included!) to get the help I needed. Dr. Google can't handle everything I face!

Thank you. I don't know why things are so bad right now. Ah well, as I've said before, God knows exactly what is going on and when I need to know He will let me know. He will give me what grace I need as I need it. I'm so glad that you are doing so well, it makes my heart do well to hear that you are getting better.

Oh no Kim! That doesn't sound good at all. emoticon I pray this passes quickly. It does seem that way~ "always something"....often the aid to one area causes problems for another.

I don't seem to be having any side effects from all my meds and for that I am so thankful. I added Vitamin A to my regimen after the blurry vision episode that lasted several weeks. I dreamed the other night that the Doc wanted me off the cholesterol meds emoticon I'll have to behave a whole lot longer for that to happen!

I worked steady all day yesterday and it was a good day...got a lot of arm moves in, stamping, addressing, folding forms, stuffing, taping 600 or so envelopes. We are doing a rate increase and mailing every tenant a letter to that effect. Made me very glad I'd done my verified letters on Monday!

With dinner, my tally was only 730 calories so I added some....with yummy beans. emoticon I'll plan a bit better today. I don't want my evening meals to be so heavy.

I hope you feel better today my friend. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers...

Bad day today, something is off with my tummy. Wade and I brined our turkey last night and then today while we were getting it ready for the oven I got really nauseous. I had to stop and go sit down for a while. Every time I stand up for even five minutes I start getting nauseous, on occasion light headed - grrrrr! I can eat just fine - well, I did do a small bowl of Frosted Mini Wheats for breakfast instead of my protein drink because of how nauseous I was and that sat just fine. I'll be doing turkey and corn for dinner - hopefully that will go just fine too. It is always something.

Woohoo Kim! That all sounds good. emoticon You did have a good day! Mine was better...stayed within range, calorie wise. I forgot my insulin last night but was ok without it. I thought about it at 2:45 this morning when going to the bathroom...and was too groggy to care. emoticon

I picked up a rotisserie chicken while at the store yesterday, and did a bean spree. I cooked baby limas, black eyed peas and lentil soup. Have it all packed in my one cup containers in the freezer. I'm glad I didn't do the pinto beans because I have no room for them! I have 32 containers in there. emoticon I'd forgotten how quickly and how much lentils swell! I'll use a bigger pot next time. I used my low sodium V-8 in those.

Hope you get some things sorted and feel better soon! The heat saps our strength more when things are off kilter I think...I had maintenance check my AC yesterday as I didn't cool down. He changed the filters...I didn't think of that! I'll pick up some small ones (I have the large) and keep an eye on them.

Now I need to clean the kitchen again before work. I only do a bean spree about once every 6 months and I do make a mess with 3-4 pots going at once. I had the crock pot and two pots yesterday.

How wonderful that your breathing has improved so much! One day at a time!

Had a good day of eating yesterday. Wade was sauteeing some veggies last night for his dinner, zucchini, onions and squash. I was trying to figure out what to eat and decided to add my chicken to his mixture and some mushrooms. I didn't eat the squash though (and as it turns out he didn't like the squash either - but Jake did!). It was very good. Olive oil, pink salt, pepper and a couple shakes of Parmesan cheese on the veggies, then cut of the chicken breast and add it in - yummers. Oh yeah, I did add my Yum Yum sauce too! That was dinner. Lunch was a salmon burger with cheese on top and some warm cinnamon apples. I had some cashews for my snack around 8:30PM. No treats and healthy eating! Woohoo - did good. I even got some walking in while shopping!

I slept too hard and woke up achy but will be good to go shortly. Today is "Kitchen Day"...and I will clean, sort, dispose of and organize. On project days, I'm glad to be in an apartment. emoticon

I would have shopped at Office Depot but the boss didn't get a check ready for me...so it will wait until next week. I like doing it on my off days because I don't have to rush and it's exercise!

I'll get my meal plan revamped and visible, and my activity plan as well. I'd like a haircut and manicure, but that too will wait... emoticon

I have noticed my breathing is SO much better and that's a blessing. It took me awhile to realize, since I was so used to the exhaustion and pursed lip gasping for air for so long!

I'll get my shoes on and take my timer......to the kitchen....like most things getting started is the hang-up!

LOL! My major problem was Church's chicken (or Popeye's) and chips! I told Sharon I won't even say that anymore, much less have that! I was buying the baby red taters and did good with them, having 2 where I used to eat 5-6....and I would have been ok the other night if I'd had half of a regular tater and not two!
I've seen the recipes for the mashed cauliflower but some things, I'd rather have some "real" stuff or none! None is easier after awhile. I need practice! emoticon

Notes! I've been known to write the same thing in three different places! This morning I did up two charts (smaller) on card stock and laminated them. One is for activity, daily/weekly and the other is my daily meal plan. I use the dry erase markers to write on them. Works great! That way, I can carry those and a small notebook rather than my heavy day-planner each day.

My before lunch sugar was 123 so it's coming back down to where it needs to be. I'd like to lose 10 pounds by August 5th, when I have lab work done. With adjustments and increased activity I may swing it. I see my heart Dr. the 15th of this month. I hope he doesn't want any stress tests or stuff done...I'd used my medical fund up already and transferred half my savings over to it the other day. I need a long stretch with no major outlay of cash!

God is aware of my finances, as He is all other aspects of my life so I will not fret, but do what I can and be thankful for what I have. I am blessed abundantly!

I had a lovely salad at lunch with spinach, arugula, praline pecans and chopped apple with a blue cheese vinaigrette dressing. I didn't need the pecans but ate them anyway. It was one of my marked down salad bowls I got on Wednesday. Delicious. I have a big container of the greens for more salad and will try to plow through some produce before I have to start tossing it! emoticon I picked up some tomatoes for tonight's salad...

I keep note pads throughout the house so I can write things down since I forget so easily. I might have to tie one around my neck and put down why I'm going into a room! I hate getting into a room and wondering why I'm there! LOL! Oh man, you are just above those 100's again! You will be back there very quickly though.

Have you ever had mashed cauliflower (rather than potatoes)? If you use skim milk and a good for you butter it is really good. You could add a bit of mozzarella skim milk cheese too for a bit more flavor. It wouldn't be long before you aren't missing those taters at all. I hardly ever eat potatoes any more, I just look at them and see starch and not much in the way of usable calories - although the potato chips I've been eating the last couple of days don't have any redeeming value at all except to my taste buds! After this weekend the chips will be out of my life again. My indulgences, at least so far, aren't life threatening; and I do easily get back into my healthy habits - but I share this not as a temptation, but as being accountable. You tell me about your foibles so I'll tell you mine.

Thanks my friend!! For joining me here and the much needed pep talk...and for the visual of dealing with the "culprit"! emoticon

Uhm...my evil twin? It was her that slapped those taters in my cart? The undisciplined, whiny one who plays in the ditch a lot?
I had a talk with Jesus too, about this and yes, it is SO easy for a slip to become a full out slide into the pit of self destruction. I do NOT want to go there and do that again.

I had crackers at the office and did not plan well that tater day, at all. I will do a clean sweep and let those things go. I'll pack healthy things for the office so I have no excuse to stray.

Woohoo, you did good! I gained a bit from Monday....to 200.4, so will be paying attention to the calories, sodium and carbs starting now. No delays and no questions. I want good results when I have labs done in a month and I'll need to work for them!

I'm going to get some things together for work, spot clean a bit and head out shortly. I want to do a card up as a reminder for my exercise. When I close my day planner, I "forget" what I'd planned to do for the day! emoticon

Sounds like a good plan to me, Bren. It scares me when you go off the wagon. Where did you get those taters and graham crackers?!?! If you give up the culprit that gave you the contraband we will go to them quietly and remind them about how serious it is for you to be eating a healthy diet from now on and falling off the wagon for Miss Brenda is way too easy a thing for her to do again and again - so when we hear of it having happened a couple of times already - well we have to take it seriously. I don't think my heart could take another heart attack. You have been doing so well, it would break my heart to see you fall back into old habits.

If you're going to be here, I'll be here to make sure that you stick to your new plan. So far my high protein low carb is keeping me on a slow move downward. I was 215 this morning, 1.2 pounds down from last week - and that's even after eating poorly for a few meals this week. God is merciful. Think of what might have happened if I had done well all week!!

Did y'all hear me fall....off the wagon?

I have no excuses and won't look for any and it was just taters, green beans and a couple of graham crackers...but such things cause fluid retention and higher blood sugars so I need to emoticon right now....get a good grip and climb back on and mosey on down the road.

Since our challenge is done, I thought I'd come over to CA and do some cleaning and water the plants. emoticon The doors are open if anyone else wants to stop and hang out.

The doc looked back and saw that my enzymes were normal a year ago so it's likely that they are high now because of the medicine I'm taking to lower my cholesterol. That is a side effect. If it gets up to 3X's above normal we will have to change it, but I am going to change my diet back to what it is supposed to be and see if we can't lower it that way. Very high protein and very low carbs. I am just going to have to learn to love that! Hopefully this fat will start falling off and my cholesterol will plummet.

Mine were really high once and I googled lab tests online. One of the causes was "fatty liver"...which one can have even if they aren't a drinker. I'll look at my old numbers, since the Dr. hasn't requested a full run of tests of late. Some numbers came down but I know the triglycerides and cholesterol were still high.

Hope this is a temporary thing Mz. Kim and your numbers come down. I'm giving serious thought to waiting for December for my lab work, in order to shove some money towards my medical fund. emoticon

Well, my lab work came back. I can see it on my patient portal before I see the doctor on Monday. All of my cholesterol numbers are down, which is a good thing. The bad thing is that my liver enzymes are above normal. All the other numbers are normal, so I'm not sure what the above normal enzyme numbers will mean for this medication. I'll find out Monday.

Your getting enough fruits and veggies, that's good. Have you tried Glucerna? Could you use that as your drink for a meal adding nutrition and calories but not affecting your insulin. Just a thought. You might have to start using that kind of thing as part of your days liquids rather than 10 cups of water. Or you could use the drinks as a snack. Just throwing that out there. Love ya.

WELL, I HAVE DECIDED THAT I AM NOT EATING ENOUGH. WITH THESE NEW MEDS, EVERYTHING I EAT UPSETS MY STOMACH AND I HAVE NO APPETITE AT ALL. THEY ACTUALLY LIST THIS AS ONE OF THE SIDE EFFECTS. THE LOSS OF APPETITE I CAN DEAL WITH BUT IF I DON'T EAT ENOUGH I WILL GO INTO STARVATION MODE. MY DR. CUT MY INSULIN YET AGAIN AND WAS SHOCKED BY THE AMOUNT OF HANGING SKIN THAT I HAVE. HE SAYS IT NEEDS TO BE REMOVED BUT DOUBTS MY HEART COULD TAKE THE SURGERY - NOT TO MENTION THE FACT THAT I JUST DON'T HEAL. MY TOTALS FOR YESTERDAY ARE:

Wow, that must be awkward!

I saw the doctor today. I pretty much asked him to put me on a statin since doing the high protein low carb diet makes it difficult for me to control my numbers. I did bring down my triglycerides. He was so funny. He got a note from the insurance company letting him know that I wasn't taking my Lovaza. I told him that I had gotten my triglycerides down and there was no reason to spend $75 a month anymore, so I was using an over the counter drug now. He went ahead and took me off of the Lovaza so there wouldn't be a problem. He said that it would end up being that they would see that I was a bad patient, raise my premiums, give me a case worker.... Give me a break - big brother needs to keep his nose out of my business!!! I will go on the statin and come off of some of the supplements. It will save me some money too. I'll be on the generic version of Lipitor. He is going to do bloodwork again in a month to see how I am tolerating it. He is happy with all of my other numbers and my weight loss so far as well. I need to start getting those numbers moving down again though. He suggested I look at the glycemic index and keep an eye out for high glycemic fruits this summer so that triglyceride number doesn't start coming up again. Bummer, my favorites are on the high side! Guess I need to get some new favorites! LOL!

Freggies, calories, and fiber is down, but water, sodium and protein looks good!

KIM - CHOLESTEROL IS SUCH A WEIRD THING. MY OVERALL CHOLESTEROL IS ACTUALLY LOW AND YET MY HDL IS VERY, VERY LOW AND I EXERCISE EVERY DAY.
THEY TELL ME TO EAT LOTS OF PROTEIN AND LOW CARB BUT THAT DOESN'T EQUAL GOOD CHOLESTEROL. SO I JUST TRY TO BALANCE OUT EVERYTHING. THIS DR. Do you look up the restaurant to see if they have the nutritional facts? I try to do that when I go out to eat when I'm tracking. Or sometimes I click on the box for what other Sparkies might have put in, more times than not someone else has eaten at that restaurant and found the numbers. If all of that fails, then all that is left is to guess!

THANKS KIM. I HAVE BEEN DOING MUCH BETTER WITH MY SODIUM UNLESS WE GO OUT. THEN I HAVE TO JUST GUESS BY WHATEVER SPARK HAS IN THEIR DATABASE. I DID NOT TRACK YESTERDAY AND DIDN'T EVEN HAVE TIME TO GET ON THE COMPUTER. TODAY DOESN'T LOOK MUCH BETTER. DH WALKED OFF THE JOB AGAIN. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME AND I'M AFRAID THEY WILL LET HIM GO. THEY HAVE NO ONE TO COVER FOR HIM WHEN HE DOES THAT AND THEY HAVE TO CLOSE THAT DIVISION - NOT A GOOD THING. SO I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH HIM. Wade's schedule puts him home at different times during the week, but I don't worry about eating as right on the weekends anyway. We both have decided that we are going to hold off on the sweets during the week and allow ourselves to eat sweets on the weekends. Surprisingly, when we do that - we have actually eaten less sweets on the weekends than we usually would! But, he also bought me some jelly beans, which I have been eating throughout the week anyway, so the sweets on the weekend hasn't held up for the past two weeks anyway. But I've been careful with those too. Today I am back on schedule with what I would normally eat for my meals. I had Boost for breakfast, my Breakfast sandwich and applesauce for lunch, and I will do chicken breast and a small smoothie for dinner (which will have some veggie and mostly fruit in it).

The whole grains are definitely better for us and because they take longer to digest do keep us fuller longer. They also take longer to be used up as energy so they don't affect the sugar count in diabetics as much either.

Not a great day for me food wise. I did do some of my arm exercises. I am going to get a shot in the back tomorrow - well, about eight of them actually, all along the side of my spine on both sides. I may just try the right side since that is really the most painful side, but the weakness is all over the lower part of my back, so we will see what the doc says tomorrow. I am ending up drinking a bit more too than I should, but the doc said that if I was thirsty to go ahead and drink, so I have been.

GOOD FOR YOU KIM! I CAN'T WAIT TO BE IN "ONEDERLAND". I DO THE SAME THING YOU ARE - HIGH ON PROTEIN, VEGGIES AND FRUITS AND LOW ON CARBS. MY DR. I am finally in the teens 219.6 this morning! Praise the Lord. I'm not tracking, whatever I'm doing is working and I don't want to know if it's wrong! LOL! I am eating more protein than carbs like my doctor told me to do and I know that there aren't enough veggies in the mix, so I will be working on changing that. I'm planning on doing a small smoothie with my dinner so that I can incorporate my veggies in that way and not get so much cold right now. My body isn't recovering from being cold very easily right now.

I guess "sodium" Erin! That is so hard to get just right!

I can't say my eating has been very good, but I lost three pounds any way. I think that taking the estrogen has told my body that it doesn't need the fat to provide it for me so it is starting to let it go. Either that or the mess with not taking my diuretic and getting flooded with fluids on the day of my surgery and then starting the diuretic again has jump started losing the fluids in my system again. I'll take it any way that it will come! Even if it comes back, I am so happy to see a number that I haven't seen in decades. I can remember being 190 in 1990, by 2001 I was 271. I started having my gall bladder problems in 1990 while we were still in Texas and was 261 when they did my surgery in 2002. So somewhere between 1990 and 2001 I weighed 221! LOL!!! We didn't have a scale for me to weigh on. I probably jumped right over it on my way to 271. I ate a lot of carbs because of the stomach problems that I had and no insurance or money to go to a doctor to deal with the acid in my gut, so I ate bread to soak it up. I was also suffering from the gall bladder problem, thinking it was stomach problems. I exercised like a fiend when I was 191, walking 2 miles a day and working out for 30-45 minutes five days a week. I also ate a very low fat diet. I lost 1 pound doing that for over a month. I was devastated! But my pastor's wife was there to catch me and encouraged me to keep going. I was losing inches so I did. I never weighed myself again and when we moved to TN I stopped doing so much, probably out of discouragement. I didn't know about the Milroy's disease, so all of the water that I was drinking like a good little dieter was sabotaging me. But we live and learn and now is now and we are doing much better - Praise the Lord!

I did not eat well today. I blame my PMS'd DD - she didn't want to suffer alone and thrust a big Éclair at me. We haven't had one in...YEARS, I think. Then she bought me BK. But I did choose a salad over fries... emoticon and I haven't gotten on the bike yet.

I haven't been eating very well but I've been maintaining my weight despite that. My surgery left my tummy and bowels out of wack. I see the doc tomorrow.

I HATE WEEKENDS. DH ALWAYS WANTS TO EAT OUT AND I DO BETTER EATING AT HOME. HE IS SUPPOSED TO BE LEARNING HOW TO COOK ON THE WEEKENDS. I THINK GOING OUT IS HIS WAY OF AVOIDING IT. LOL I TOLD HIM THAT HE GOT FAR TOO SPOILED WHEN HE WAS SICK AND THAT I HAVE NO INTENTION OF COOKING 14 MEALS A WEEK ANY MORE. IF GUYS CAN RETIRE, DON'T WE WOMEN GET THE SAME PRIVILEGE? I KNOW SOME OF YOU HAVE MEN THAT COOK FOR YOU. DH'S MOM HAS ASSURED ME THAT HE KNOWS FULLY WELL HOW TO COOK BECAUSE SHE TAUGHT HIM HERSELF. NOW HE CLAIMS NOT TO REMEMBER - WHICH IS POSSIBLE WITH HIS CHEMO FOG. SO WE WENT OUT AGAIN. I DID PRETTY WELL ON STAYING WITHIN MY RANGE THOUGH.

Not sure how to track today. I went for my ultrasound this morning. There's a cyst on both ovaries, the one one the left side looks bigger than the one on the right - so what burst about three weeks ago on the left side? Another cyst? Anyway, back to food - afterwards we stopped at a bakery that someone from Wade's work had brought some stuff from. We got a few things from there to enjoy for over the weekend (4 cupcakes and a cream roll). We went to a BBC place after that. I ordered the ribs and Wade got the brisket. I also got sweet potato casserole and corn on the cob and a roll. I ended up eating about a third of my ribs, two slices of Wade's brisket and two bites of the sweet potatoes before I was too full to eat any more. I wanted to fill up on the meat though, so I made sure to eat it. Oh, I had Pepsi too, first soda in a couple months. I didn't drink all of it though. I did eat a bite of my cream roll and half of one of the cup cakes. Not sure what the rest of the day will look like.

Did MUCH better yesterday, even with M&M (dark chocolate peanut), and put in 32 minutes/5 miles on the bike last night. Even last night my weight was good, and even better this morning after passing a lot of water during the night. I should reach mini-goal of 205 by the end of the month. SHOULD. If I behave and avoid the Dreaded Noodle Shed.

no exercise until we figure out the back. I was waxing my face and had the same problem as when I was doing my shoulder PT. I started to get nauseous and had to quit and sit down. I was just finishing up so that was good.

Wow, Erin, good job!

I was within all ranges but one, protein. I had two small veggie servings and three regular fruit servings. I did a smoothie for dinner and soup for lunch, thus the protein shortage. I got all my water in too.

I tracked today. I put in an expected snack, but ended up eating two gingerbread cookies that Wade baked fresh. I was nearly 300 calories under with my snack added and I didn't eat it, so I'm sure I was under. My sat fat was 12g, the limit. I was under on everything else. I just put in homemade chili and that is usually made with hamburger and this was made with Turkey, so the Sat fat might be lower. Anyway, that's today.

Shel, 20 minutes is good! I long for the discipline and uhm "desire" to exercise on purpose. I was on the rebounder uhm last Wednesday maybe? Then my foot went out Friday night...
and I'm down but not out...there are still things I CAN do...if I just WILL do...kudos to you!

Biked just 20 minutes this morning. My school walk totals about 10 minutes. I may get on the bike again later today. I also want to do my weights. My food tracking was off yesterday - I tracked what I PLANNED to eat, but then ended up eating something else. I don't feel like going back to adjust! Will try to do better today! emoticon Shel

Yes, there's a long way to go -
And I want to go all the way, no matter how long it takes, to be able to serve Him VIGOROUSLY all my days.
My calories are probably over because I'm working away at the meatloaf DD made. It's not entered among the recipes, so I don't know how many calories it ACTUALLY is. The good thing is, she uses oatmeal as the filler.
Did the bike this morning, and will be walking to school, since it's pleasant and dry. Shel

I love Charles Stanley...one of my very favorites emoticon I'm not feeling so good today. I'm having a lot of pain with my foot, have felt really weak, tired and just whooped. It's 89 degrees here y'all!

I'll be careful tonight as well, tho I'm just hanging out with Jesus. I'm praying for recovery and strength. I have a long way to go and I want to finish well, the race he has set for me to run emoticon

Exercise is the one area where I am still not doing very well, Shel! I am making myself get off my duff more though, and part of that is making myself get out of the sweat pants and into the jeans!

Today:
Cals: 1303; balance - protein over by 1; fat and carbs in
fiber: 17; sat fat: 10
water: 4 (hopefully five by the end of the day); milk: 2
exercise: upper body strength and a wee bit of aerobic
fruits and veggies: 5

Back on track. Talking to the coaches and I called the coaching line for Tenet yesterday because I was off on one of my biometric numbers. To get credit on my physical I have to pass on my blood pressure, my BMI and my cholesterol. My BMI is too high, but I was good on the other two. I wasn't sure that the cholesterol was going to pass, but praise the Lord, that one did! I need to do six coaching calls to be able to pass and get credit, so I started on their weight loss program. My coach for that called me this morning. They are sending me a work book. They e-mailed me the first two chapters and I went through some of it last night and filled out some of the questionnaires - which I actually did really well on. The only area where I was below the line on was exercise. Sooo, we'll see if I can lose any weight talking to them. They are having a nurse call me since I had so many meds on my list and so many things wrong with me. None of them major, but the girl who does the weight loss stuff isn't a nurse and she just wanted to make sure that I talked to one so that I would be able to do the stuff with the weight loss program.

I did do some walking outside. I was cleaning the kitchen before I was going to work out so that my lunch could settle, but my back started to hurt quite a bit, so I ended up walking around the yard with Wade instead. It's more than I usually do, so it's a start!
