There are so many things that affect the different levels in our systems, it's amazing! The older we get the harder it is to get control back too. I hope that you find normal again soon! Just keep eating healthy!

After surgery I got cortisone shots in both knees and that really messes with my blood sugars. It has been several days now and they are still high. Last time it took 11 days for them to return to normal even though I am eating super healthy.

Can't see it yet. I've been working loosely on the Trim Healthy Mama Diet. They have a diabetic version too, I believe. But here is the basic premise of that diet.

1. Protein at every meal and in your snacks.
2. Separate fats and carbs. Fats and carbs are where we get our energy from. If we separate those out, we will be using our fat to fuel our bodies rather than our carbs all the time.
3. Eat 5-6 meals a day to keep up your metabolism.
4. Cut out sugar and white foods. You can use natural sweeteners like Stevia, Truvia, or Erythritol. Be careful with things like honey, they do have a lot of calories in them even though they are natural. Eat whole grains when you do eat grains.
5. You can have low carb veggies with any of your meals and berries with any of your meals as well.

You can find a lot of information on Pinterest too. There are tons of recipes on there for free.

Here's the food lists if you are interested:
E (energy) MEALS; S (satisfying) MEALS; FUEL PULLS (FP)

The purpose of this diet is to separate out the fats and the carbs so that you will use fat as an energy source on opposing meals rather than carbs all of the time. When you reach your goal weight, then the two can be combined in some of your meals.

S-meals are satisfying meals because you get to eat fat with them.

S-friendly meats: All meats and fish, both fatty or lean.
S-friendly eggs: whole eggs and egg whites
S-friendly dairy: heavy cream (raw pasturized is best); half-and-half for coffee; butter; all cheeses (with cream cheese, the 1/3 fat is better because it isn't as calorie heavy); sour cream; double-fermented kefir; full and reduced-fat forms of cottage cheese, ricotta cheese, feta cheese, and paneer; full-fat plain Greek yogurt (you can sweeten with a natural sweetener); 0% fat plain Greek yogurt (a full cup can be used as your meal's protein source, but otherwise it's better to keep to a half cup due to carb content); Laughing Cow Creamy Light Swiss cheese wedges
S-friendly veggies: all non-starchy veggies. [Starchy veggies are potatoes, corn, sweet potatoes, turnips, and cooked carrots - so avoid those in S meals. A small amount of carrot in a stir fry shouldn't hurt.] Tomatoes, onions, and peas are okay, but don't go overboard with them. Butternut and acorn squash should be limited to a half cup.
S-friendly fruit: Up to 1 cup of all kinds of berries can be used, but keep blueberries to a half cup; lemons and limes
S-friendly nuts and seeds: [in moderation] All kinds of raw or roasted nuts (salted or unsalted); all kinds of raw or roasted seeds (salted or unsalted); all nut butters without sugar; all nut and seed flours
S-friendly condiments: All oils that are cold pressed (and cook with primarily saturated oils); Mayo; mustard; horseradish sauce; all vinegars; salad dressings (with low carb counts of just two or less); non-sweet pickles; olives; nutritional yeast; all broth or stock without sugar; unsweetened cocoa powder/cacao nibs; Ketchup (sugar free, or a small amount of the regular); hot sauce (one carb or less)
S-friendly grains and beans: keep them away from your S-meals with the exception of very small garnish amounts to be used occasionally. A quarter cup of beans could fit into an S meal, but it's still best not to use grains or beans in every S-meal. You can fit one Light Rye, Fiber, or Flax Seed Wasa cracker or one Sesame Ryvita cracker into an S meal now and then too.
S-friendly healthy specialty items: several choices from the Trim Healthy Mamas pantry; stevia-sweetened chocolate or a square or two of 85% dark chocolate; 100% cacao baker's chocolate; unsweetened nut milks, such as almond, cashew, coconut, or flaxseed; low carb tortillas or wraps; fat-free Reddi-whip

Here is the E-friendly list: E meals are low fat meats and carbs, using carbs as our energy source.

E-friendly meats: Lean meats such as chicken breast; tuna packed in water; salmon (look for less than 5g of fat); all other fish not fried; venison; turkey breast; lean ground turkey or chicken (96-99% lean); lean deli meats, natural brands are best; ground meats with higher fat levels can be browned, drained, and then rinsed very well with hot water and used in E meals in up to 4oz portions.
E-friendly egg sources: egg whites (both fresh and carton egg whites, products like Egg Beaters are also acceptable)
E-friendly dairy: 0% plain Greek yogurt (Triple Zero stevia-sweetened Greek yogurt by Oikos is also on plan); low fat or nonfat regular plain yogurt (not Greek); plain low-fat or non fat kefir; 1% cottage cheese; reduced-fat ricotta cheese (1/4 C serving); skim mozzarella cheese (garnish amounts only); reduced-fat 2% hard cheese (garnish amounts only)
Laughing Cow Creamy Light Swiss cheese wedges
E-friendly grains: brown rice (up to 3/4 C cooked); Quinoa (up to 3/4 C cooked); whole barley (up to 3/4 C. cooked); farro (up to 3/4 C cooked); oatmeal (up to 1 1/4 C cooked); whole grain bread (2 pcs/serving in sprouted, artisan sourdough, or dark rye form); sprouted tortilla (1 lg); sprouted whole-grain flours; sprouted whole-grain pasta (as a side dish); light rye, fiber, or flax seed Wasa crackers (up to 4); multi-grain, hearty, whole grain, or sourdough Wasa crackers (2-3); popcorn (4-5 C popped) (not buttered); baked blue corn chips (as a garnish over chili or soup)
E-friendly fruit: All fruits in moderation (1 piece of fruit; 1 C. of watermelon; 1/2 lg banana or one small one); all berries in liberal quantities; 1 Tbsp all-fruit jelly for use with Greek yogurt or on pancakes. Stay away from drinking fruit juices.
E-friendly beans and legumes: all beans and legumes, including lentils and split peas (stick to 1 C densely packed cooked, but more can be eaten when liquid is involved as in chili)
E-friendly veggies: all veggies except potatoes (save those for cross over meals that include both fats and carbs - which usually don't come until you have reached or neared goal weight); carrots both raw and cooked
E-friendly oils: 1tsp of oil (exception of 2 tsp of an MCT (middle chain triglyceride) oil. [I've been looking up stuff on this since I've never heard of it before. MCT oil is absorbed by the body more quickly, going directly to the brain. It gives you energy and also helps with your cognitive processes (better memory retention and helps clear up confusion), and helps with weight loss by burning quickly and not storing in the body. Coconut oils do have some MCT oil in them, but they are not 100% MCT oil. Coconut oil is very good for you and it is what I am going to start using exclusively when I need oil for making something, but the MCT oil can also be added to your coffee, yogurt, salads, etc because it is odor free and mostly taste free.]
E-friendly nuts: limit nuts to garnish amounts or 1tsp nut butters. You can use 1-2 Tbsp of pressed Peanut Flour in an e-setting.
E-friendly condiments: mustard, horseradish sauce; hot sauce (no sugar); low fat dressings; mayo (up to 1 tsp or just a smear); soy sauce/tamari/Bragg Liquid Aminos/Coconut Aminos; all vinegars; all spices prepared without sugar or needless fillers; unsweetened cocoa powder; nutritional yeast; all skimmed stock and broth prepared without sugar
E-friendly specialty items: Trim Healthy Mama products; unsweetened nut milks; Joseph's low carb pita or lavash bread; low carb tortillas; fat-free Reddi-wip (don't overdo). Avoid light or fat-free Cool Whip due to the inclusion of high-fructose corn syrup; Laughing Cow Creamy Light Swiss Cheese wedges; Dreamfields pasta (once a week)Light Progresso soups (excluding the "cream of" versions.

Fuel Pulls: You can use Fuel pulls as an addition to your meals or as your snacks or desserts.

FP-friendly meats: keep lean meat portions to 3-4 oz (list is same as E meals).
FP-friendly egg sources: egg whites (whole eggs in S-setting only)
FP-friendly dairy: (same as E meals)
FP-friendly veggies: (same as S meals)
FP-friendly fruits: (same as S meals)
FP-friendly grains: 2 light Ry Wasa or Ryvita crackers; up to 1/3 C beans or oats
FP-friendly oils: (same as S meals)
FP-friendly nuts: (same as E meals)
FP-friendly condiments: (same as E meals)
FP-friendly specialties: (same as E meals)

Approved Sweeteners:
Pure Stevia Extract; Stevia blends such as Sweetleaf or Truvia; Sugar Alcohols such as Erythritol and Xylitol (which is toxic to dogs); Other chicory root; freeze dried fruits; Monk fruit extract

Sucralose or Splenda are fake sweeteners and should be avoided.

If this seems a little too crazy, just work on a high protein/low carb diet. Make sure you get enough carbs at each meal to get what carbs you need to keep your sugar level, but also make sure that carbs aren't the last thing you eat at night - if you don't use them they turn to sugar and then to fat!

I don't know if any of that is helpful, but if I can do anything to help, let me know. Love ya, Kim

God bless, Kim

I tried to list my food for yesterday, today, as I am not finished eating for the day. I found that my values in all areas was too low. I check my blood sugar 4 times a day and if that is OK I don't worry much. But it is obvious to me that I am not eating enough and yet not losing much more weight. That comes from having a job where you set all night and then try to get too much done during the day and not get enough sleep. I need to do better. But my blood sugars are fine! Now I just have to figure out how to get my food to appear where people can see it so I can get some suggestions on how to do better. I have a pretty good idea how to do it. So let me know if you can see it.

Oh my...I see the chili cheese dip at the side and I'd at it all...if I had some.

I had two Lean Pockets and a small Diet Coke for lunch. I brought some of my chicken chili from the freezer but haven't had that yet. It's not as good as my white chili I made recently. It's more like taco soup and not quite spicy enough for me. Oh well...it's food!

I'm aiming to watch my intake over the weekend and maybe get a couple of pounds off...

Have a good afternoon all...

In all things, I will acknowledge Christ, my Savior and strength of my life.

I don't bake or really cook much either, so that is something I am going to have to change. I'm like you, I don't mind the same thing often either.

Went out to eat last night with out-of-town BIL. Most everyone is going to the beach to scatter Allen's ashes. Mom already had another Church commitment with the seniors going to Pigeon Forge, and there was no one else to watch Jake, so she and I aren't there. Lynda didn't want to wait to get this done, so they just kept the date the same. A friend of her's from Church has a beach house that they are able to use. We ate at Captain's Galley and I had the ribs. I ate about three of those and about half of my French fries, although I did have two Sprites by the time all was said and done. We sat and talked for awhile and the one they gave me to take home ended up getting drunk too. I am going to have the left over ribs tonight. I haven't eaten to plan at all today. Wade gave me a muffin to eat for breakfast, brought it special just for me! Then Mom had left over pizza from Wed. night, so I had that for lunch. We'll be back on track tomorrow.

God bless, Kim

I will make use of the things at home as much as I can. I don't cook often so recipes are mostly wasted on me. I like simple things and eating the same thing often doesn't bother me...like a nice salad with protein. I'll be confused for awhile, doing the sorting out and switching up but will sure give it a go.

I don't bake so those things won't be an issue. I was glad to see the whole wheat, low carb tortillas are ok. I do have corn ones as well but haven't used any. I can do up my breakfast burritos using what I have on hand.

I had a Lean Cuisine low carb meal with extra broccoli for lunch today but had skipped breakfast so am hungry for protein right now. I'll try to stay sane at dinner time emoticon

In all things, I will acknowledge Christ, my Savior and strength of my life.

I was down to 215.8, which is 1.4 pounds down from Tues. Phew. I think I'm just drinking too many liquids lately and carrying the water - I can see it in my ankles and feet as well as my calves.

I had what looked like a rash on my hands, but the doctor said it was broken blood vessels from the anti-inflammatory I was taking. They have already disappeared after going down to half a dose, praise the Lord!

Am eating alright today and trying to keep things separate, but it's really hard. I did end up having some tortilla chips with my chicken last night. Wade didn't get home until 6:30 and I was too hungry to wait for anything else. (He brought home a chicken from Sam's).

I am going to order some Stevia in a bag from Amazon as well as some Red Mill organic low carb baking mix and some stone-ground oatmeal - that way I can make some treats that I won't have to worry about! LOL! The stuff on the THM home site and even at Amazon is pretty expensive, so I am going to try something else.

God bless, Kim

Grrr... indeedy! I'm growling at my place as well

I had a good Dr's visit, didn't have to do labs but will when I go back in 2 months. She wants my FBS average at 100 so I have work to do. It's down to 163 for the 8 week average and she does want me to continue keeping my charts and bring with on my visits. She said I can cut back on the glyburide PM when the FBS levels off.

She gave me 3 vials of the Levemir too and that's a huge blessing! I'll call the pharmacy today to see if she ok's the refill on the Actos before I go to pick meds up. The other three I need are called in but we had to discuss the Actos.

Here's to a brighter day and a real "flush" for us both! Yesterday was my tater day so I'm up a bit today.

I need to clean a bit before work since I wasn't feeling well yesterday and didn't get it done.

In all things, I will acknowledge Christ, my Savior and strength of my life.

I have that quick guide starter for THM. There isn't a whole lot to it, but it does give a succinct view of the program.

I have been good for two days and my weight is still going up - grrrr! Ah well, it has to come back down sometime!

God bless, Kim

My weight is back to 211.8. I've not been careful for several days. I felt pretty bad this morning, checked my stats and my FBS was 57 emoticon BP was 118/69 HR 63. It's only 4:15 and I could have used a bit more sleep but thought I'd do something constructive before my appointment at 10:00.

I DID remember the orange juice this morning tho! So much better than eating when not hungry to get the sugar stable.

I found a site yesterday with a free, printable quick start guide to THM...couldn't get it to download, then saw further down on comments that she was no longer with her group. A quick start guide would be useful.

Our cold front hit and we are to have freezing temps, high of 50 with WC in the 30's for today. Low of 28. Brrr....I have the heat on and it does feel good. I think I'll lay back down until I do...I'll check again in 30 minutes.

In all things, I will acknowledge Christ, my Savior and strength of my life.

I was surprised to find the scale at 217 today. I ate pretty good over the weekend as well as yesterday, and even walked a couple of days over these past four days.

Doing alright today. Probably won't walk, too chilly and cloudy, but I will do some arm work today.

I'm off today and tomorrow so will spend some time gathering information and prepping.

You go Kim! Sounds like a plan and those good days will add up.

I didn't choose well yesterday but am back on track today. I'll be "cleaning house"....and restoring order today and seeing the Dr., getting meds and supplies tomorrow. I'm looking forward to the challenge and continuing to hang out with you ladies.

Blessings to all...

I'm doing well with my eating today! I did forget to weight this morning though and am getting ready to take the dog for a walk.

I am going to add another goal: I want to make sure to get at least one veggie in every day!

My other two goals: Eat a high protein/low carb diet (THM) as well as get 10 min of exercise in each day.

God bless, Kim

So many years ago! I hadn't thought of that but now I will! Thanks. Sometimes a plate just wants some taters on it....or a half cup of rice or noodles, ya know?

Thanks for sending the team letter out. Made me really sad of course but we had a good run and we will always be Girls of God!!

I got an e-mail from Missy. It's been months since I got updates and regular e-mails from SP and I agree, that bit of connection helped.

Be blessed...and rest! I'm having a bit of insomnia here.......where my mind is on overdrive with memories. What's up with that? emoticon

In all things, I will acknowledge Christ, my Savior and strength of my life.

Have you ever done potato flakes - just add hot water for a portion of mashed potatoes. They're made from real potatoes! It might be easier to get a small portion with something like that.

Love ya

I would like that a lot. I too, being a "bookworm" would feel at home there. I agree to waiting a week to see if anyone drops by....

Oh I want to go! I have the I-Hop gift card Laura sent me for my birthday and I could use that. I've only been to the one here once, many years back. When I lived in Dallas I'd go more often and Laura and I liked going out for breakfast. I'll wait until after my Dr.'s appointment tho as I know I'd be into the carbs for sure!

I tossed the rest of my taters this morning. I've only had them about three times this whole month and if I "want" taters, I'll get the small bags of steamers, red or gold, that I really enjoy and manage portions better with...for now, I'd rather leave them alone.

I have some whole wheat tortillas I want to do up for breakfast burritos. I do 6 or so and wrap and freeze. I have egg beaters and turkey sausage crumbles to use in them...those too can wait tho. I'm on a roll right now and want to keep going! I like doing bean and cheese burritos too...I may do some of those and freeze as well.

I forgot the orange juice today and had candy when I had a drop.......I'd picked up some OJ for here and the office and had three pieces of candy before I remembered it!

It's been SO nice today...warm, sunny...windy...and I've played outside a few times and will again when I got re-lock a gate and put the cart up. It's supposed to hit 81 tomorrow! Yay!

Have a good evening my friend and I hope you rest better! I'm going to finish up here and go lock that gate...Adios until tomorrow emoticon

In all things, I will acknowledge Christ, my Savior and strength of my life.

I'm with you on no one showing up. It's been you and me for quite awhile now, with occasional visits from a couple of the others. I am on another team called Christian Bookworms, I'm a leader there too. We have about five or six regular people and then the occasional dropper by. The other leaders of the team are really faithful to be there and to be of help to the team. We have a Camp Accountability over there with about four or five people who show up regularly. Our main thread, What are You Reading has the five or six regulars on it, although not every day. There were four or five days I was the only one getting on. I think part of that is people not getting e-mails. I understand someone having to slow down there coming on for a time, but when it gets to be weeks, it is frustrating. I make time to get on every day because I know that people are counting on me and I don't want to let them down. I would have no problem shutting the team down and just doing my Christian Bookworms team and I would love it if you would join us over there! Let's wait until the end of next week and see if anyone else gets on here on a regular basis - if not, then I would have no problem just giving this team up - everyone else has! Too sad!

Otherwise, I did get a walk in today and some squats. Wade and I went to eat breakfast at IHOP and I didn't watch too closely, although I made sure to have bacon and eggs with my two pancakes so there was protein there to help fill me up. I did have the white chocolate with raspberry topping and cream cheese drizzle on it - super yummers! Lunch was a biscuit with pumpkin jam. So as you can see, overkill on the carbs again! LOL! We'll work on doing better after the weekend, since I let myself have what I want to (within reason) on the weekends.

I started my new med routine today, so we will see how things go tonight. I haven't started the new dosage of the second med, I want to wait until the new pills come in so I am sure to be taking it correctly - that's the anti-anxiety/pain pills, he's doubling the dose of that and halving the dose of the anti-inflammatory. I will take that at night before I go to bed and the other in the morning since it's supposed to perk up my mood! LOL! I'm just in it for the pain killing effects - even if the pain is there and I just don't care about it because my serotonin level is way up there! LOL! I also bought some cream to put on my back that is natural. Wade put some old aspercreme stuff on there last night and that worked really well. This is Arnica gel - so we will see how that works.

Love ya, sister!

God bless, Kim

I'd like yours better too. Knowing that helps tho, so it's not a shock when you go in. I hope the meds switch will help. My Doctor's scale is 3 pounds higher...

My Doctor gave me 3 months on the Plavix (against her will) and said I'd have to see my cardiologist to get more......so I'll have to schedule that in...on my calendar and in my wallet. emoticon Don't wanna. I need to whip myself into shape somewhat as he'd probably insist on a stress test etc. and I SURE don't want to do that.

Weight is coming back down and I was very happy to see 208.4 this morning. I see my Doctor on Wednesday and will get a talking to as well as more lab work done.

I only had 17 units of insulin in my pen last night, so that was my dose emoticon My FBS was 165 this morning. I'll not be so lazy next time....and start a new pen for the correct dose.

Kim, will anyone miss us if we close up shop...except for ourselves? I'd look for you elsewhere...like a stalker maybe? Not really...(stalker I mean)...but it's super sad that we do our little check in and no one else wants to play with us emoticon What are your thoughts?

In all things, I will acknowledge Christ, my Savior and strength of my life.

I'm doing better on my eating today. I found out that my doctor's scale is about 5 pounds higher than my scale - I like my scale better! LOL! I also did a few leg lift exercises and squats this morning and will do some more squats brushing my teeth tonight! If I remember!

My doctor's visit went really well. We changed up a couple of meds due to some side effects from one of them and to help me sleep better at night - and hopefully take care of the twitches that I get in my back.

Love ya

God bless, Kim

Oh my goodness! That's a huge amount of change. Wow emoticon Yours is way beyond mad money for sure.

I had a pretty good day yesterday. Dinner was grilled HB and onions with salad. Yummy. I had a HB patty with broccoli for lunch. I don't have beef very often but sure enjoy it when I do. This was a pack of ground chuck I'd picked up on the way to work.

I made myself move more at the office and need to do it daily. I have lots of me time so can do my squats, weights, wall push-ups and arm work without interruption.

My Doctor had not ok's my Plavix refill for some reason and I have only two left. I'll call the pharmacy again today and if it's not in, I'll call the nurse. Calling was wise...wish I'd thought of it Wednesday and saved myself a trip out there.

Have a blessed day Mz. kim! I will as well...

In all things, I will acknowledge Christ, my Savior and strength of my life.

We've been saving change for years, so there's quite a bit there. We bought these containers to put house plants in in multi colors, from Lowes, and I have them separated out in those - the quarters too a couple of those containers, one large and one small! The pennies fill up about half of a large one and the nickles and dimes are each in a small one, about 3/4 of the way full. I supposed that the small ones are about 4C big and the big one about 6C. There's a big pickle jar in the basement too, but that is way too heavy to move, that will have to remain a mystery.
I keep thinking the bank is going to come and ticket us for hoarding change!!!

Eating too many carbs today. Wade bought me some Spiced Pumpkin Jam yesterday - oh so good! So I had a peanut butter and pumpkin jam sandwich for lunch, with one of those lunch containers of mandarin oranges - Jake loves those! I had 1/2 a monster muffin for breakfast too. Dinner is going to be pork roast with onions, potatoes and carrots. I will eat a very small potato (has potassium) and more of the other stuff since that is good for me!

Did a few leg raises and will do some squats later.

God bless, Kim

I had an off day yesterday. It started with a low FBS of 64. Guess I didn't need 35 units of insulin the night before?

I had breakfast at 5:30 tho I didn't "want it"...I need to get some orange juice I suppose. I went to Wal-Mart for my meds and they weren't ready so I got other stuff I didn't "need"....and pretty much wasted my day. I'll call before I go back.

I call my change my "mad money". I have a Christmas jar I save it in and I cash it in around Christmas. It was full this last year and I had $78 in it. Our bank doesn't take the rolls anymore. It's nice to have a stash...however it's counted!

In all things, I will acknowledge Christ, my Savior and strength of my life.

Doing alright today with my eating. I did do some stuff around the house, some vacuuming and I gathered all of our loose change containers and separated those into denomination and then counted out the quarters. I think that we will be able to handle an emergency with what we have in those containers! At least that is what Wade wants to save it for!

Well, not much else. Will talk to you later.

God bless, Kim

I'm glad I only got two of each...it was breaded with panko crumbs, garlic and herbs...and SALT. It was tasty but much too salty. I actually prefer my fish plain, grilled or baked. I do have tilapia and salmon filets in the freezer. I keep tuna and salmon in the cabinet too. I do have a nice selection of spices in there, many without salt. I do use a dollop of Miracle Whip with my fish, so get you on the mayo!

Well I found what you lost and then some...I was 211.8 yesterday...up 2.2...poor choices and too much sodium. So I'll get to work today. It sure comes on easier than it goes off.

I'm feeling a bit better and am so thankful. I had a lot of hip, back and knee pain to go with the foot for a few days. I need to watch how I move my body about. I'm not as flexible as I used to be and am quite a bit older!

I'll get up and do a cleaning jig.........then play some more. Be blessed today.
Hooya...I have laundry in (after searching for my key and card) God helped me find it after reminding me I had knocked "something " off the dresser a few days back...Getting some walking and stretching in and it feels good.

Love, hugs and prayers for all...

I wish I loved fish, although I do like tuna fish on my salad, unfortunately I need some mayo with that! LOL!

Was down to 215.4 this morning. I thought it would be higher because my legs are a bit swollen. I'll take it and be very happy. That is 1 pound down from last week.

FBS was 170 this morning but dropped to 113 by 9:00 AM...and by 11:00 when I had lunch, I was in trouble at 72.
I will ask my Dr. about coming off of something with all these nice lows and normal I'm seeing. Or maybe the Actos has a lower dose than I'm taking? I'll find out.

I had my planned salad bowl with protein and that bi ol' tangelo for lunch. I just checked and it's up to 129...a raise of 57 points. I'm liking it, yes I am...

I got some tilapia and shrimp marked for clearance today and will have some for dinner tonight. Looks good and I love my fish!

Woohoo! My numbers are happy ones this morning...

Weight: 209.6 ( with the 5 pound loss of my 15 pound gain)
BP...112/71...HR 65
FBS...94! Wow! God is so good to me! My doctor will be happy too

I hurt myself a bit on Thursday, squatting down much too far to stock the little fridge at the office. Yesterday, my right foot and calf went south. It's a bit better this morning but was swollen and really painful by the time I got home from work. I'll let it rest today ...so I'll be good to go tomorrow.

Activity is still on the light side and I hope to amp that up this next week. I did up some simple charts, just haven't been using them yet emoticon I have one for my meal plan and activity goals.

Love and prayers for all here...

In all things, I will acknowledge Christ, my Savior and strength of my life.

Oh, that sounds nice...really nice! I miss having someone to sit at my table with me...and having a "new" one, I'd want to spend more time at it. Of course if I ventured out of my woman cave, I might make a friend or few to share a table with! See how I made that all about me? I hope if you get it, you will really enjoy it! I could have stopped there emoticon

I did not get any exercise to speak of beyond the work duties yesterday. My back and hips can sure tell. I'll aim higher today and get out of my box.
I've been really chilled of late. Wednesday I heard we hit 71 but I felt 45 all day! I brought the heater into my well again yesterday. Down in the cubby hole with the computer, we get no heat or AC...so have to improvise.

My FBS is 104 this morning! Wow!! I am still taking the Actos........since it does such a good job. My after dinner sugar was only 130 so I took just 20 units of insulin and the 104 is a result. I am very happy, seeing as how in November my FBS was still running 250 and over most days, without Actos.

Now to increase activity and see more results. I've got work to do!

In all things, I will acknowledge Christ, my Savior and strength of my life.

So far today I am on track. No exercise though, just way too tired. I did do a few leg exercises, but my energy level is about on nil.

We are going later to look at some furniture, a kitchen table and chairs, at this house that we found on-line. The people are getting ready to move and need to get rid of what they have because the place they are moving too has most of what they will need. Ethan Allen furniture - woohoo!

Talk to you later.

God bless, Kim

I got a great report from the eye Doctor! No damages from the diabetes, no need for glasses other than my readers unless I choose to get the prescription upgrade. It was my first time for the extensive exam with dilation etc......and I was so glad to hear him give me the all clear!

I stopped at Wal-Mart for my insulin and grabbed lunch from Burger King.....my sugar was dropping and I was hungry! I did get just the Jr. burger, small fries and my iced tea I missed yesterday...unsweet, lots of ice. I'm good to go now! I was aiming for no fast food all week, and have done well so far with this one concession.

I got a $40 discount on my insulin! emoticon Knowing my Doctor will give it to me as needed, is a blessing, and having the scrip filled for the 5 pen pack is one as well. I didn't break the bank as much as I expected so I am very happy. Now to continue to exercise caution, keep my numbers coming down and get stable.......I believe I can do this!

I had to ask myself about 4 times this morning what day it was when I woke up. I was a hair disoriented and off kilter. Just now, I was thinking tomorrow was Thursday!

I am still using the Actos because it does such a wonderful job with the glucose readings. I am being cautious and planning ahead as much as I can so I don't get overly hungry and out of control. That was the problem the past 6 weeks! My appetite was raging and I was crazed emoticon In using that, I can also keep the inulin lower and get more bang for the big ol' buck! I'll let my Doctor know what I'm up to when I see her next month.

I can also skip the Actos on nights when my sugar is below 100 at dinner...if I watch what I eat carefully....and keep it low.

I hope the headache passes quickly and you feel better very soon. Rest as much as possible. I'm doing that too and am so thankful I can.

In all things, I will acknowledge Christ, my Savior and strength of my life.

I'm so glad that that weight is coming off. Mom is taking Metformin and she struggles to lose weight, although she hasn't gained any. She is borderline diabetic, so she watches her sugar and takes the meds to keep her from becoming diabetic.

I'm on track so far today. I have a headache right now so probably won't get exercise in. I am also really tired!

Wow! That's great for our Barbi! I know how bad...and discouraged...I was at my 15 pound gain. There are so many side effects to everything they give us, to consider.

I'm down 5 from last week. I am so thankful! I'm at 209.6 this morning. I still have 10 to go to lose the "gain"! I'll keep plugging away and thanking God for mercy, wisdom and His provision for me.

FBS is 126 this morning. emoticon I am aware that even tho there are side effects to consider to my meds...I also have to consider...always...my choices and behavior! My eyes were opened to that on Saturday after I raided the candy bowl! I hadn't done that in a week and once I did, the "lust" for it was reawakened! emoticon I thanked God for showing me how weak I am and the need for staying alert! He still shows me the "way of escape" but I need to be willing to take the route provided.

Hugs and prayers...

I was 216.8 on Monday and 217.4 on Tuesday last week. I was 216.4 This morning, so a loss either way - very surprised!

I talked to Barbi a couple of days ago and they had taken her off one of her meds and she lost about 17 pounds right away. I hope that you are able to keep losing despite your meds!

Eating good today! Will see about exercise.

Love ya

That's a wise move Kim. Monday is a good day to get back on track. I'm sure there were many good things provided that are not normal fare.....but tasty.

I'm hoping for an early spring here too. It was very cold, cloudy and windy yesterday but is supposed to climb to 56 today. I'm so thankful for each nice day we have! Hope you get them soon emoticon I've been running the heat here much more than I used to...I stay much colder than I used to! My hands and feet are icy emoticon

I picked up some fresh produce yesterday and got a start on sorting the fridge. I'll finish this morning before work. I'll shop on Monday. Tuesday I have my long awaited eye appointment and will pick up some more insulin at the Doctor's office.

I'm down another pound and am very happy. I look forward to getting the big gain gone...and breathing better...and moving more!

I hope we get your spring-like days here soon - brrrrr! At least the sun has been shining.

Not going to worry about what I eat until Monday again, then will hit it hard. I get started and then we go to someone's house and they have good stuff and I get off track. After all of the family stuff is past I will get back on track. We are all doing well though as far as the loss of my BIL.

Careful attention is paying off. I'm down 3 pounds as of this morning...211.6

I called my Doctor on Thursday and she told me to stop the Actos. The 15 pound gain in 6 weeks is dangerous and I feel every ounce of it. She mentioned Januvia but since I have no insurance, that's off the table. I am to take 10 units of the Levemir AM and 35 PM and see how that goes.

I was on track well for Thursday but yesterday went over by 480. I had a low of 63 at 5:00 but checked before driving off. I'm liking those Werther's and Jolly Ranchers but only use to treat a low. Yum. So much better than those nasty glucose things. Two does the job.

I've been walking in the sunshine at work at any opportunity. I've really enjoyed the spring like days emoticon

I've been having "add ins" with my chili too. I made some more white chili, using ground pork since I had no chicken or turkey breast. I used northern beans in it. It's really good and I have it in my one cup containers in the freezer. I put a handful of Fritos in it and a dollop of sour cream and some cheese. Delicious!

Today for lunch I brought a Lean Cuisine...shrimp Alfredo with a cup of extra broccoli. It was really yummy. I'd had two Werther's candies for my low of 78 at 10:30. It sure doesn't take long to start feeling sick when it drops like that.

I have a salad ready for dinner tonight. I'm aiming to keep my calories at 1400. It will take some effort but will be worth it.

Yep, we haven't used the noodle shed in a long time! I'm hoping we won't have to start again. emoticon

It's just too easy to eat stuff that isn't good for us. Trying to figure out what we need to do to overcome meds and age is another difficult task on this journey - but giving up isn't an option.

Thanks for cleaning the noodle shed, we haven't had to use it for awhile now! LOL!

Will work on getting eating under control tomorrow. Tonight is our celebration for Allen and we will be having a reception afterwards. We went to my SIL's house this morning to eat breakfast because someone had brought over a breakfast casserole (a sweet one) and some sausages wrapped in bacon. So yummy. I held to one serving! Lunch was a bowl of healthy chili, lots of beans, salsa, tomato sauce, and lean hamburger. I did put cheese and sour cream in it though, oh and half a lunch bag of fritos! Made it not as healthy, but it sure was good! I plan on eating a yogurt for dinner with some nuts in it.

I've hit the wall. When I saw my Doctor Dec. 2, I was at 199.6. I have gained 15 pounds in 6 weeks. But...rather than stay here and bang my head on the wall, I will tunnel through. I have to. No other options and no excuses for staying here...stuck and expanding! The Actos and increased insulin are only part of my problem. I am the 75%.

Back to the drawing board, with a stop by the Noodle Shed....it needs cleaning anyway. I believe there is hope for me yet...and I will stand firm, trust God and walk in the wisdom He gives me. I must do my part...so may as well start...today.

Praying for us all...

In all things, I will acknowledge Christ, my Savior and strength of my life.

Still hanging in there with my diet, although some of my meals stray, I try to make sure that they are protein heavy. No exercise while I am feeling so tired, I just don't have the energy.

Love ya

God bless, Kim

You did good! The only way I'd have one piece of pizza is if there was "only" one piece to be had emoticon

I made a pot of chili yesterday and finished off the Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches. I didn't get the fridge cleaned and sorted so veggies didn't find themselves on my plate. I have the makings of a stir fry or steamer pot in there.

In all things, I will acknowledge Christ, my Savior and strength of my life.

Despite my meal last night I did come down one pound from yesterday.

I had one slice of pizza and some banana pudding for lunch. Breakfast was my protein shake. Dinner will probably be a salad which is not carb heavy!

God bless, Kim

I had a truly off track day. I had no brakes at all, didn't even try to slow down and this morning I had 213 on the scale thanks to my complete insanity. emoticon The sodium overload had my BP up as well.

Today, I have no marks against me...yet...and will aim to watch myself and pay attention to triggers. I think I hit every hole in my road yesterday and shook myself up pretty badly.

Now to patch that wall I rammed against...and move on. New day, fresh start......renewed mind and spirit.

I'm such a cheater and tater eater that I'd be in trouble every day. I need some E-meals tho and didn't get any yet today tho I used up all my energy, early...laundry, cleaning and shopping and hit a sugar low at the grocery store and was in trouble and nope...did NOT have a few pieces of hard candy in my wallet as planned but I'll put some in it!

I'd had 133 for the FBS and after my work/shopping...it was 78. I was very hungry too. My weight has gone up some more and I am not happy about that so really need to get busy.

I will do better...I will...I will. You did good, getting right back in the saddle......hooya!

In all things, I will acknowledge Christ, my Savior and strength of my life.

I'm back on track today too. I had my protein drink for breakfast and a spinach and chicken breast salad for lunch. I did have a protein bar for my morning snack.

I ordered some MCI Oil and will let you know how that is working. It is found in small amounts in coconut oil, that is why it is so good for you. MCI oil helps with more energy, weight loss and cognitive function. MCI oil doesn't go through the entire digestive process, so it burns more quickly as energy and therefore isn't likely to store in your body as fat. It is also called Brain-Octane oil because the benefits go right to the brain helping with memory issues as well as confusion issues. We'll see how it works.

Here is the list of E-foods and Fuel Pull (FP) foods.

Here is the E-friendly list:

E-friendly oils: 1tsp of oil (exception of 2 tsp of an MCT (middle chain tryiglyceride) oil. Coconut oil is very good for you and it is what I am going to start using exclusively when I need oil for making something, but the MCT oil can also be added to your coffee, yogurt, salads, etc because it is odor free and mostly taste free. I just ordered some from Now products on Amazon. A 32% bottle was $20.99. If it does what it says it does then it should be worth it. We'll see. Trim Healthy Mama has one, but they were out of stock. Theirs is $19.99.]

THM has recipes that give you wonderful ways to use this FP list as a meal or as your snack and dessert. You can find THM recipes on Pinterest. I don't know if you have to show proof of owning the book or not, I haven't looked them up yet, but I can't imagine that that is how it would work. I know you have to have one of the books to get the recipes off of their site. I'll continue to share what I can as I understand it.

God bless, Kim

I love that term "celebration of life" tho sadness and loss are represented by it. The gift of food, prepared by others for these times is a blessing...and nourishment is often hard to come by or even wanted, but necessary. Bless those that prepared it and gave it for that purpose. My heart and prayers are with you all at this time and in the days ahead.

I'm crawling out of the ditch and back onto higher ground today. I am in need of a course correction and new direction and am going for it today. My obsession with a hamburger has led to much trouble.

I'm doing laundry today and restoring order to home, mind, body and spirit. I thank God for U-turns and clean slates.

In all things, I will acknowledge Christ, my Savior and strength of my life.

Eating what's available through the kindness of friends and family. Was with family today so I didn't get a workout in, although I did do some shopping for a pair of black slacks. I had one orange skirt and jeans, neither appropriate for a Celebration of Life. Love ya

I was going for a burger...line was way long and I made a worse choice and went across the street for chicken...fried chicken....and coleslaw isn't qualifying as much of a veggie serving.

I'm done. Cash is gone and yep it could have been better spent. I'll stop being crazy now I hope.

I didn't do well in the evening last night. I had Wade bring me home a Wendy's Jr. Burger and fries (Jake did help me eat them). Then mom had made a banana pudding, so I had some of that. I did well during the day, so hopefully it didn't hurt me too much. Back on track today. I did work out a bit today, but am super tired and getting another headache, so we will see. I think the headache is coming from my root canalled tooth. It's been hurting the past couple of days (not good), and my headache is on that side. The tooth is on the bottom, but I also get pain in the upper teeth from that lower tooth, so it may be travelling all the way to my temple! LOL!

Here are a few more tid-bits I've learned from the Trim Healthy Mama book:

S-meals are satisfying meals because you get to eat fat with them. I'm going to give you a list of foods that can go in these S-meals.

S-friendly condiments: All oils that are cold pressed (and cook with primarily saturated oils); Mayo; mustard; horseradish sauce; all vinegars; salad dressings (with low carb counts of just two or less); nonsweet pickles; olives; nutritional yeast; all broth or stock without sugar; unsweetened cocoa powder/cacao nibs; Ketchup (sugar free, or a small amount of the regular); hot sauce (one carb or less)

So, that gives you an idea of what you can do with an S-meal. The E-meals are energizing and have carbs in them. You don't want to eat carbs and fats together because your body will use the carbs before the fat and store what isn't used as fat. If you eat a carb poor meal, the body will go to the fat to use for energy. It's important to get both in our diets, so going back and forth with the meals should help your body to start using fat for energy rather than just carbs.

I'll post the E-friendly choices tomorrow.

God bless, Kim

I'd found some at Wal-Mart once...only once! Reduced sodium! They no longer carry them, just like the turkey meatloaf that was so good. Oh well, in the big picture that's such a small concession. I do the once a year thing with the Gingerbread like that. I skipped this past year.

I got into the candy bowl at the office yesterday. Now that I know what the hearts are, I need to leave them alone. I was hoping for a dark chocolate but no can do...only peanut butter filled and caramel emoticon Yum!

I'll take one of my salad bowls for lunch today so I won't be so grabby. I had a can of soup yesterday and by 5:00 I was wanting a big ol' burger........I couldn't find the place I was trying to go to (recommended spot) so had a turkey meatball sandwich when I got home. It was very good emoticon and an ok substitute.

Exercise: still a mix of work, cleaning and brief walks. I'll try to aim higher the next few days.

No wringing out of the sodium on those Vienna sausages - bummer! We like them cooked in a grape jelly sauce in the crock pot - sodium and sugar rush! But oh so yummy. My SIL brought a small crock pot of little sausages for our Christmas Eve celebration. I eat them once a year, so I don't mind indulging then.

Eating well today. Weight back up to 216, not sure what is going on in my body right now! All my functions are normal, so I'm not sure why it isn't staying down. I will be getting the rest of my workout in this afternoon.

God bless, Kim

I agree Kim! This is the first time ever actually, tho in the beginning when I started the glyburide I'd have an occasional low, it was never like this! I am very happy. I told Sharon that if I make meal planning and activity "fun" it won't be such a chore.

I had a "flush" of sorts yesterday and am so glad...I was at 210 then and this morning 208.4. Yay! My FBS was 128 and that's great!

I picked up some fruit cups, salad bowls and tuna when shopping. No Vienna's. I did look at a can, just to check the sodium level and no...it hadn't gone down since I had them last week.

I need to spot clean a bit before work so I'll see you all at the office!
Blessings to you~

Sandy, those days are going to happen (like the treats I had last night), but that just means we have to get back on track and move forward the next day. Too many times in the past I took one messed up day and made it two and on... Now I just pick up where I left off and move forward. I so don't want to get back in the habit of failing and then starting again! Days like that also show us that it is important to plan ahead. Think about what tomorrow is going to look like as you track today's food. Make up those healthy snacks so your aren't tempted to grab an useless calorie one when things get stressful. You are doing great by just jumping right back in, so forget yesterday, it's gone, and live victoriously today! (Me too!)

Bren, I love that you have to really think about having candy around for those low numbers - that wasn't always the case and I am so proud of you for maintaining those low numbers. Make a Golden Corral Lunch an occasional thing that you can look forward to, just plan on what you are going to put on your plate beforehand - even if a trip to the dessert bar includes some frozen yogurt!

I was down two pounds today. I'm sure that is water weight because I was up three times last night to empty fluid from my body (nice way to say it). I'm down to 214.8, which is more comfortable for me! Now to keep it going down.

I am still working at those fat meals and those carb meals with protein as the centerpiece. It isn't as easy as I thought it might be. I like my salads with both fats and carbs, so I am having to adjust what I put in them! I went from Mexican Blend Cheese to Mozzarella so that I can have that on my salads without adding very much fat, as well as using fat free dressing. I am also getting some exercise in every day, but unfortunately the last couple of days I wasn't able to get the full 10 minutes because of back pain. We'll try again today. It's too cold outside for me to walk right now (my nose can't handle the cold, and wearing something over my face makes me feel like I am suffocating - so no walking when it's cold!).

Love y'all.

God bless, Kim

Hello sunspirit! Welcome to Camp emoticon Kim is a voice of reason and her encouragement and direction helps me...often! Praying for you as you begin your journey again! You're in a great place and SP is a huge blessing to so many. The tools, articles and information are awesome!

Sandy, I have less stress than anyone I know and I still "use" food as comfort and companionship at times. Just pick up and carry on! I'm so glad the furnace issue is dealt with and thanking God for His provision!

I made a less than wise decision to go to Golden Corral for lunch yesterday. I totally skipped dessert but did a cruise by them. I had my favorites....and a to go box for dinner of just fish and coleslaw. That needs to be the end of that!

I was on the run from 9 AM-2:30 PM and that doesn't happen often. I did all that was on my list except the shopping. I picked up meds and water for the office and my hard candy for the low sugar episodes. I'll finish that today and more cleaning and decluttering at home.

Weight was up 1.2 this morning, due more to the sodium than food yesterday. So I'll work on heading down in the days ahead.

Wishing you all a peaceful, productive day and may God bless you best where needed most~

In all things, I will acknowledge Christ, my Savior and strength of my life.
