I have one coming up in May, its a benefit run for a family and I am going to do it with my daughter and grandchildren so it will most likely be a walk rather than a run

Doing Go St Louis Half Tomorrow. Unfortunately summer came to St. Louis this week. Temp at start will be 68 and at noon 80. So guess I will just push the water and electrolytes and hope for the best.

I just added a 10K for next week. First 5K tomorrow, 10K next week, half in May. May or may not (no pun intended) add a full for May too. I'm deliberating and will decide after tomorrow's race. Have a great weekend all and go out in run in the beautiful spring weather!

The first one I'm treating as a training run. They are 2 weeks apart. The second one I'm going for a PR. :)

Let's see if we can revive this thread a bit.

I've got my first 5K this upcoming Saturday and at least one half-marathon in May, perhaps two. I'm still deliberating.

Anyone else?

That's the plan! I have been adding a little on each run. I'm also trying to stretch more at night. I think it will help the plantars in my left heel. It's noticeable when I wake up in the morning. Running in the summer is just harder to me.

You'll get there in no time. Just increase by 10% each week, then you'll be running a 5k and not even realize it!

I'm starting over again myself. I'm actually trying to get back up to running two miles straight. I have always been a run/walker but now I'd like to be able to run a whole 5k non stop. I'm not there yet.

I got mine at REI. Go to any sporting goods store. Try them all on. I've heard the right fit is everything. I love it!!! 50 oz of water on the go. Mine sits high on my back and I sweat more on my middle or lower back so it's just right. I know it sounds crazy, but the ones made for women really do fit better! Let me know if you like it. :)

I bought the small camelback for women. It fits very nicely! Having all that water in hotter temps helps me out so much. Hope it helps you as well. :)

Speaking of heat...I'm in Texas so that's all we will have for the next few months...

Any advice about running/jogging in heat? I would be doing it in the evenings but it's still right at 100 degrees....

Well the rains came and went over night. By race time it was a relatively cool 70 and clearing skies. Most of the racers were there for the 5K so it was a bit lonely on the second loop. Tried to catch the person in front of me but wasn't quite fast enough. Completed it in 52:15 anew personal best. Stayed inside the rest of the day. We are under an extreme heat waning through at least Monday night so guess I will be backing off my training runs.

When I get a little more confident, I'm going to look for a running group...people I know will show up and follow through...

I love my friends but they aren't the most reliable bunch when it comes to things like this...lol
