For the most part I do listen to my own inner clock and don't try to change it. However, the problems arise when I have to be up early in the morning to get somewhere, like to a job (I do a lot of freelancing), or an appointment. The majority of the world runs on that "regular" clock and that's where I get into trouble with my inner one! Being a Night Owl is fine, but not when I'm expected to be at a job bright eyed and bushy tailed at 8 AM!! LOL

I've been blessed with being a morning person my whole life. That must be so frustrating!

We've all got that 'inner clock' that you mentioned. If you've been trying for years to work change it and aren't having any luck - I'd just say work with what you have and live your life accordingly! No reason to kick against the pricks!

Thanks Shelly, but I've tried that with no success at all! And if I sleep 8-9 hours, I'm a complete mess the rest of the day...totally zonked out...5-7 hours seems to be my limit.
I've tried getting up at dawn, taking my camera and going out walking in the morning mists...no change.
I've tried getting up, doing some stretches and light exercises...no change.
I've tried waking up, laying in bed and doing imagery of sorts...again no change.
My mother even told me I was like this right from birth! And amazingly so was my daughter!!
I've asked doctors, counsellors, therapists over the years, no one can really figure it out other than the not a "Morning Person" thing - that I must be more of a "Night Owl".
Thanks anyway tho...if you think of anything else at all, let me know.

Hi well that can be worked out by getting up at the fixed time in the morning after 8 -9 hours of sleep.wake up and stretch on the bed your whole body .Then wake up wash face with water, brush and you are ready to shine.

I am in control.

I hope this is the right spot to post this...let me know if it should be elsewhere!

I'm NOT a "Morning Person" at all! Doesn't matter what time I go to bed, if I wake up before 9 AM, I'm groggy for a couple hours, trouble concentrating, can even fall back asleep (doze actually) sitting up!! I've been like this all my life and it's frustrating.

Now I know I can't necessarily change my "inner clock" or whatever you want to call it, but does anyone else have this problem? What did you do about it? Is there any little 5 minute challenges that can be done daily to help wake me up when I do have to get up before 9 AM (for example, when I have a job to do)?

Thanks for ANY ideas folks!
