hummm. Interesting since I just finished my second half 15 minutes faster than my first and I stated spin classes two months ago. Might be something to that!

MAKE it a great day friends.

How often do you think you should incorporate spinning to help with speed training?

I want to try spinning so badly. There is a spin studio in my town, and I have a pass for 1 free class, but the Saturdays when they offer the beginner class have always fallen on race days. I should be able to try it in the next month, since I am not training for my half yet.

I am also planning to join a gym this weekend, and they off "cycling" at times that fit my schedule, so I will definitely be trying it soon.

PR races:
Nov 26, 2011 - San Dimas Turkey Trot 10K (1:07:34)
Dec 26, 2011 - Operation Jack Half marathon (2:27:44)
April 1, 2012 - Carlsbad 5000 5k (29:17)

I love spin too but I have cut back. I read Jeff Galloways book and while training for a half/full, you should not take spin on you cross training days (non running days) because of your legs. Regular biking is fine but not spin/in out of your seat. Maybe someone else could ellaborate more. I was kind of surprised.

Interesting..I've never thought of spinning in any terms other than just improving my cardiovascular endurance.
Thanks!

Next race: Akron half marathon 9/25/10

Recent races:
Cleveland half: 2:47:58
Athens half-marathon 2:44:44

If you view your run as an opportunity, your attitude will get an adjustment.

I took up spinning for the same reasons! My spin instructor is actually a 35x marathoner and said that her first race after she took up spinning she shaved 15 MINUTES off her marathon time!

LOVE spin class!!!

I hit a wall on my speed training a while ago, so after my last half I decided to try the spin class at my gym. (My 13 year old needed to be at school early--about 30 minutes before class start, so that made it easy.)

Once I got through the first class, I figured that the spinning would be great training to improve stride turnover...and what do you know, today, I found my turnover faster and less fatiguing!

Who knew???

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. ~Colossians 3:23-24
