I'm going to put a picture of former Bishop Alexander Sample taken in 2011 on my spark page today, when my Husband & I renewed our marriage vows for our 45th wedding anniversary, with numerous couples . He was kind to pose with the many people who asked. When we celebrated our 40th, he blessed my new wedding band with engagement ring, my first engagement ring, and so beautiful. I had a number of pictures taken then, but that was before I had a digital camera, We have so many special and blessed memories of him.

Terrance has been added to my intention list. I was wondering if he is a soldier, DEE? Is he maybe a soldier, a Journalist or someone working in a mission? I was wondering. It has to be so very scarey traveling to many foreign countrys', especially those who are facing much violence. May God bless and protect him on this journey.

Hahahahahaha! That's funny. The word was right there. I guess we both learned a new phrase today - now we know what a bishop ordination is called!

That sounds like a wonderful event! I believe that you would feel so blessed just being a part of it. That's how I felt at Kevin's two ordinations.

Yes, CJ, I was at Archbishop Sample's Ordination on January 25, 2006. It was actually the first time since 1899 that a bishop had actually been ordained in our Diocese.
Speaking of a bit of "laughing out loud", it says right on the DVD,"Episcopal Ordination and Installation Mass of Bishop Alexander K. Sample. The St. Peter Cathedral of Marquette was filled to capacity. I went with two lady friends from St. Joseph Mission, the Church we are members of. I remember now, we had invitations to go. Each Parish of the Diocese had just so many invitations that they could give to members of each Parish. We had the three; We were blest. I know I have the Special Bulletin that was printed for that beautiful Event, but I don't know where it is at this moment. I know we had probably every Priest in the Diocese, we had numerous Bishops, Archbishops & at least a few Cardinals. I'm happy that I decided to purshase the DVD. I could go on and on! It was

Sorry to confuse you, Janis!

I didn't know the term myself until I looked it up. I know when a man becomes a deacon, he is ordained into the "diaconate". Then, if he becomes a priest, he is ordained into the priesthood. I looked up what it is called in the Catholic Church when a man is ordained a bishop, and it said on Catholic Answers Forum that it is an ordination into the Episcopal Order.

Episcopal means "of the bishops" or "governed by bishops", so while there is a Protestant church referred to as "Episcopal" (what we call Anglican in Canada, and "Church of England" in England), Catholics are also Episcopal as we have bishops (and had them first, lol).

I just meant, were you there at Archbishop Sample's bishop ordination, or at another phase of his ordination?

I'm confused CJ. When you say Episcopal Order, I think of the Non Catholic. I can't answer that; now I'm confused. I don't see anything written about Episcopal. Maybe there is something I not understanding, so maybe you can tell me.When I write you, I will cope an article about Archbishop Sample.

That must have been so exciting and interesting to be at his ordination. Do you mean his ordination into the episcopal order?

Wow!

I have a soft spot in my heart for a young priest here in town. When he was a seminarian, he worked in our parish as he progressed towards his ordination to the diaconate. I was very interested, and we all went.

Then, two years later, when he was ordained into the priesthood, we again went.

I have yet to go to a bishop's ordination. Something to do before I die!

Oh CJ, you made my day! Archbishop Alexander Sample has been such a wonderful Bishop. He will be highly missed in our Diocese. I went to his Ordination in our Diocese of Marquette,MI in 2006. I have a DVD of the Ordination; I will treasure it. Now, he has been called to be the Archbishop in Portland. I think he's 53. He graduated from HighSchool in 1978 in Nevada. He became a Priest in our Diocese on June 1st of 1990, and now he will be installed as Archbishop in Portland on April 2nd. May God bless him always. I hope we are blest with a Bishop with the same values.

You will note that I have added a very important one to the list (#2) for the Church, for his Holiness, and for the College of Cardinals

Please copy the list, and paste it into a new post. Then, add your own intentions to the number you wish them to go under.

Ask for assistance if you do not know how to do that.

Hello all. What follows is our 'skeleton list' of our novena intentions.

You will note that I have added a very important one to the list (#2) for the Church, for his Holiness, and for the College of Cardinals

Please copy the list, and paste it into a new post. Then, add your own intentions to the number you wish them to go under.

Ask for assistance if you do not know how to do that.

When posting intentions, mention your name (or username), or the person's name for whom you wish us to pray instead of "My dad", or "My sister's boss". For example, "for Dee's dh", or "CJ's MIL".

You know, and God knows, who you are praying for, but we might not know.

These are most of the 'usual' intentions that we frequently pray for (the dead, the sick, etc.). If yours is not listed anywhere, please add it near the bottom under #24 "for all other intentions".

If there turns out to be some similar ones under that heading, I will separate them out into their own section this time, or next time.

1. In Thanksgiving for our many blessings;

2. For his Holiness Pope Benedict the XVI as he steps down, for the College of Cardinals who will soon be choosing a new Pope, that the Holy Spirit will be with them all to guide and lead, and for our whole Church during this time of transition;

3. For the pro-life cause and the 40 Days for Life; for our leaders to realize the evil of abortion and euthanasia and to make laws that protect the most vulnerable in our society;

4. For all non-believers especially:

for all those who have strayed from the Church that they will feel the Holy Spirit calling them back, especially:

For all lukewarm souls that the Holy Spirit will light the fire of faith within them again;

5. For all Catholic Critters Team members, that God will strengthen our faith always;

6. For all Sparkpeople members that God will guide us in our healthy journeys;

7. For those who are unemployed, under-employed, unsatisfied with their work, those without housing or healthcare, and those who suffer financially, especially:

that God will provide all they need;

that God will grant them all health of mind, body, and spirit;

9. For peace in our world, and for all those in the military that God will keep them safe in His arms;

10. For those who struggle with addictions or eating disorders, or who are mentally ill, or depressed, or who are struggling emotionally right now, especially:
