I hear you. Back when I was able to walk, I enjoyed doing a circuit at our church gym. Others walk the mall, in fact I think Centerpointe even has a walking club.
Would either of those work for you?

Definitely to lose weight. I think the key for me is exercise, both cardio and strength training. I read the book You on a Diet and one of the rules is Walk 30 minutes a day NO EXCUSES. Plus strength training 3 days per week. What really impressed me was the book says this gets your metabolism working not just during exercise but 24/7 so that exercise helps you burn more fat all the time, not just during exercise.
I would be interested in ideas for keeping up with exercise in our GR winters. I like to walk, but the cold weather is discouraging.
