I don't know what your schedule is like first thing in the morning with having kids and working, but have you considered setting up your workout time in the morning before the rest of the family gets up and things get rolling to full steam? Take that time in the evening to get everything ready for the next day (lunches, laundry, etc) and just relax. Then start your day by taking care of yourself first with exercising and you will get the added bonus of getting it out of the way. You done something good for yourself and your family. Think about it.

If it is to be, it is up to me.

Thank you all so much! It finally got warm here in Northern Michigan and I took a couple of walks this week. Only a mile each with my youngest boy. I didn't lose any weight but I lost 1.5" on my hips which is good enough for me!

It is hard to fit it all in. Last summer I did really good, rode my bike 4-7 miles most days after work with my son. Once school started it was over for me with that as my only exercise and the shorter daylight I was sunk. By the time I got home from work, and dinner thought of it was already getting dark and cold. One of my buddies kept on me about getting diversified with my exercise not just bike riding. She was right, all the weight I had lost I gained back and I did nothing all winter. Now I can't even ride 2 miles without it killing me.

So I am taking the advise of my friend. Getting back into this whole thing. Instead of waiting until evening to get my exercise in I am setting the alarm 30 minutes earlier and getting it in at least 4 days a week before going to work. Today I "took the morning off" and am getting a walk in over lunch for about 30 minutes. It seems if I am able to start the day right then I keep going in that direction.

With the am workouts on the evenings that I have time I am also getting some bonus time exercise in. It feels good to have that be the bonus rather than the "required" for the day.

I hope this is a little helpful. It is really hard to keep up with the kids, work, home, and just life.
Amy

I agree with these girls. I also think once the weather gets better we will get out of this rut. I would lose more weight if I could fit in exercise too. So you are not alone.

I love the idea that bathing suit season is coming up, just remember that or buy a suit you like in one size to two sizes smaller.

Just try to remember how good you feel now and how bad you used to feel at the heavier weight. Try to think about summer and bathing suit season coming. Try to remember it takes a lot of hard work to lose a pound and it is SOOOO easy to gain 10! Think about how good you feel about yourself when you make all the right choices and how horrible you feel when you make one bad choice. If you are tired and can't get to exercise just make the best choices with your food!!! I definitely know how easy it is to get stuck in a rut, but you are worth not giving up! Sometimes when I feel I am in a rut I have two days off. Relax and don't think about it but then after day 2 its right back on!!!! You have done such a great job so far don't give up! I know its hard but you have come so far and you have to remember you are worth it and your family deserves and healthier, HAPPIER YOU!!
GOOD LUCK!

Hi Becky,

I can definitely identify with this. I don't have any good answers other than to just keep plodding along with whatever you CAN do and to not quit. The whole month of March was crazy for me and in the past I would've said, "oh well -- guess I failed," but this time I just kept taking small steps. No, I didn't get in the exercise I wanted to, but neither did I use it as an excuse to eat more than I needed. Could I have done better? Yes. Am I going to bail on myself because of one bad month? No. There's still time to get back into a good exercise habit.

Just hang in there! We don't have to do everything, we just have to do what we can. The good news that came from March was that even though I didn't lose weight, neither did I gain any. In the past, a crazy busy month like that would've meant five more pounds. I consider not gaining a victory in and of itself.

I am kinda off track right now and looking for motivators. I have a picture of me at my heaviest on my fridge, I have my little black dress in the very front of the closet, etc. I just need something (after working all day, making dinner, cleaning house, helping kids with homework, and being a taxi for my teenagers)that will keep me from sitting down. I was doing well and making myself walk for at least 1/2 hour at 7pm and I was losing the weight. seems like all of a sudden I am way too busy come 7pm and there is always more to do! Can anyone help?
