I've been brought up on homeopathic medicines, From what i can tell they work differently for different people. they work at many levels, it's quite likely the diet and medicines worked together, ie the medicines helped boost metabolism, but that's not to say that the diet wouldn't work by its self.

With me the medicines work when i'm ill, ill, ie colds coughs, cured mumps in 5 days (was off painkillers in 3) but they tend to have some random effects if i try and use them for ingrained problems such as metabolism. (tend to have very big mood swings and get very tried and weird points, good in one way because it's working theoretically bad in another because i become too unstable and unreliable for work and to live with :S but it does depend on you and how your body responds to them.

hope that helps some

You just have to keep trying, one day at a time, I guess.

I use almond breeze instead of milk, The unsweetened kind has only 40 calories and no carb or sugar and tastes great, I also add my liquid vitamins in it. emoticon

I was having trouble losing weight, but then I started doing slim fast or a protein shake in the morning, and lean cuisines or another healthy frozen meal for lunch and dinner. This helps cut back calories. I have fruit for a snack and try to have a salad with the lunch frozen dinner and a steamed veggie with the night frozen dinner.

Hi! I tend to stick with the machines myself, but there's even a difference between what the gym treadmill says and what my home treadmill says...I average the two values just to keep myself more or less on track.

Another question, I'm having a huge amount of trouble trying to count calories. I never seem to be able to stay within my range. Also, many times, because I work until late, my mother-in-law prepares something for all of us and at that point I'm totally lost. A few years ago I went to a dietician who gave me a diet (along with a series of homeopathic medicines) that worked wonders... I was thinking of starting that again (without the medicines -- any thoughts on homeopathic medicines) but I'm not sure if the diet worked because it was combined with the medicines or what...or maybe it was because I was more active then. I'm confused.

Also, I did the diet when I was 31 yrs. old, now I'm 36. Does this make a difference? Is it really that much more difficult to lose weight at my age?

Thanks

I am going to stick with the machine, but you know it is so tempting to go with the SP counter, just cause you feel more accomplished that way. :) But thank you.

I would have to say listen to the machine. It knows your age, weight and intensity. I would think that it would be more accurate. My elliptical says I burn more than SP says so I go by mine. I don't know why there is such a difference but I guess its not an exact science either. GOOD LUCK!!

Here is my question...when I work out at the gym, I always enter my weight and age on the machine and track it. Then when I get home, I put it into the tracker, and without fail, SP says that I burn almost twice the calories the machine says I did. I am inclined to believe the machine, since it knows my intensity and all. Has anyone else had this problem? Or better yet, does anyone know why there is such a difference? This happens with other activities too...the other day I painted my DD room, and it took like 6 hours. I only entered 3 hours of it, and it said I burned 1100 calories! It wasn't that great of a workout:)
