Ditto on the reusable plastic containers!

I figured out a while ago that one of the small containers holds 1 cup. I use it to pack fruit or other kinds of one cup servings that I can refrigerate and then grab during the week as I'm packing lunches.

Thanks for reminding me of a successful strategy I have been using for awhile! This is also an easy one to try~

I haven't been keeping measuring cups with me, but I have been measuring all of my portions before serving or storing them! I don't even own a soup ladle, so I've been using a 1 cup measure to dole it out at dinner. I also have a set of reusable containers that hold one cup of food, so portioning my lunches is easy. I have a food scale as well, which is great for figuring out how much meat I have. It's AMAZING to me to see just how much food 3ounces of meat is -- especially if I chop it up first!!

MIZBUFFETT, GREAT victory in your food choice! It's the little steps everyday, being consistent with making the right food choices, that will see you through!

I love turkey salad, chicken salad too! I usually make enough to last me a few days, in theory, but my boyfriend always eats it all before I can blink my eye. I've had to get into the habit of hiding food from him to reserve it for me, by putting it in cleaned out cottage cheese containers (which he ignores because it's healthy). It's sneaky, but it works!

For those that don't cook, there are some decent frozen foods out on the market today. I know frozen meals are much healthier now in general than they were a few years ago, but please watch that sodium.

One great thing about frozen meals is that they are already portion controlled! When I first started my weight loss journey, I would have Healthy Choice for lunches and dinner to get used to eating normal portions. In the end, I love fresh food, so I was eager to get away from frozen meals.

I made turkey salad this morning for lunch today. I weighted out 3 oz of turkey and was literally blown away with how much that was. I even weighed it after I chopped it up! :-) Added a 1/2 cup of celery and 1/4 of red onion and whew....I can't eat all of it in one sitting.

Weighing and measuring, while a major pain in the backside, will honestly make it easier for you in the long run. Because I am more mindful of what I am eating, I find that I don't need to eat as much and that I am fuller, quicker.

I find that I do better when I have a frozen meal for lunch. Healthy Choice, Lean Cuisine and Weight Watchers all have some pretty good choices. Remember that some of those products have preservatives in them as well.

I had a choice last night for dinner. Burger King Double Cheeseburger at a whopping 500 cals and lets not talk about the fat content or the steamed veggie bowl at Panda Express. Because it was after 8pm when I got to eat, I did the veggies and felt alot better this morning because of it.

You don't have to cook to eat well...you just need to know what is better for you to eat.

Okay, I'm in. Portion control is something I should be more conscious of although most days I really try. If I got through the temptation of Thanksgiving excesses without gaining, I feel I can do anything.

This challenge is just in time to work into my food and exercise plan that I'm using to get through the holidays.

When I first started measuring portions, I was stunned to figure out that I was eating for 2-3 people most days. One of the most effective changes I made was watching my portions to be sure I am just eating for one.

Along with this challenge, I've decided to spend more time planning my food choices.

Good luck to all!

This is something I need to start doing again and it goes with another challenge that I belong to. In that challenge we are to track every bite we eat for one week. This will help get me back on track.

One day at a time, sometimes one meal at a time.

It's a great one - especially to ask us to use it for an entire week at every meal. That helps make this challenge more "serious" for me - if that makes sense. It's easy to say "yeah, I'll do it." and then forget here and there. But to say "do it for one week, every meal" means business. Thanks! I need serious help here with certain foods.

This one is a cinch for me. I am already doing it. I weigh and measure everything!
But I also do not measure salad because if i want to eat a little more it is OK

Okay, I measure everything and then put it on my plate. I can't trust myself not to. If I want something I look at the serving size and doll it out accordingly. This has definitely benefited me in my weight loss. This should be a pretty easy challenge for me, I hope!
