I made ground turkey and sweet potato shepherd's pie. About to test it out in a few minutes.

http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?recipe=2463639

I made Pumpkin Pie and Peanut Butter pudding with bananas and graham crackers for dessert, I already had a taste test while making it. It is out of this world. Word of warning it turned out to be a huge serving size and 300 cals. It could easily be cut in half:

http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?recipe=2462803

Love pork tenderloin. I make mine with gala apples, nutmeg, cinnamon and a bit of brown sugar. My husband won't let me cook it any other way. ;) He loves my tenderloin.

I made the Balsamic Glazed Pork Tenderloin. I often roast a plain pork tenderloin, but this little bit of glaze really added something good. Everyone liked it. I cooked carrots right in with the meat and they went well with a touch of glaze, too. It looked just like the picture on SparkRecipes (except with carrots). Here's the recipe: http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?recipe=421109. I gave it 5 stars.

That sounds wonderful! I love green chili stew! I think canned potatoes would turn to mush after 8 hrs in the crockpot anyway!

Just made Green Chili Pork Stew -- recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?

. Hubby got to eat early before I got home from work. He left me this note: "OMG! Wow! Very Good!" I left out the potatoes and used a can of jalapeños along with the mild green chili. Cooked in crock pot all day. Super good!

Hi Wendy, welcome! That spicy thai chicken looks great, right up my alley (as you can probably tell since I originally was going to make asian bbq chicken this week)... I'll be curious to see how it turns out!

I have to change my recipe! The weather forecast is calling for rain/snow for the whole first part of the week next week, so my planned BBQ chicken is probably not such a good idea. So, instead I'm going to try out this Chicken with Honey-Beer sauce. www.sohowsittaste.com/2012/09/chicken-with
-honey-beer-sauce.html

It looks tasty and easy to put together for a weeknight. I cut the recipe in half, and a 6.5oz serving (y'all know how I like my big meat portions) calculates out to 279 calories.

I'm going to try these Mushroom Burgers, which feature mashed pinto beans. Vegan recipe.

vegetarian.about.com/od/veggieburgerrecipe
s/r/mushroomburger.htm

I'm already planning to cut the oil in half and to bake instead of pan-fry them. I'm assuming it will make four burgers as the recipe doesn't actually say (I hate that!). Programmed it in as a private recipe to my spark recipes and it calculates as 140 calories per burger (assuming four is correct), which will leave room for bread & ketchup. :D

All right! I flaked on the last round, because the appetizers I'd been planning to make for my house blessing proved not to be necessary--I saved a lot of time for other prep by just using hummus & a couple of other things I'd bought. But now I'm ready to cook again, & I think I will try this recipe for chicken & white bean stuffed peppers. Did someone in this group recommend it? All I know is that it looks great!

I am going to try out this asian-style BBQ chicken on Tuesday... assuming the weather cooperates so I can grill: www.dinneralovestory.com/eating-chicken-so
lving-problems/

I love chicken thighs, they have lots of flavor and reheat much better than breasts. They're a bit higher in fat content but calorie wise they're almost equal to breasts. I also love BBQ anything. Each 6ish oz serving of this works out to about 275 calories. I plan on serving with plain white rice to soak up the sauce, and spicy sriracha snap peas.

Everyone is welcome to participate (or lurk!) and it's not necessary to take part every round. Join in when you can and sit it out when you can't!

Step 1 - Pick and post a recipe! (post by Monday 4/15 )
This can be a recipe from an online source, a cook book, or a magazine. Post the link here or if you are reproducing it from a paper source, do that here. The general idea is to try something new. This round can be any recipe you like. In other rounds we may do categories (beef, soup, dessert, etc.) Here are some great websites to browse...
www.sparkrecipes.com
ww-recipes.net/
www.3fatchicks.com/diet-recipes/
www.skinnytaste.com/
www.cookinglight.com/

Step 2 - Make recipe and EAT!! emoticon
My favorite step by far! This step will also include some prep work for your review. Ask your family (if applicable) what they thought of the recipe. Note any changes that you made or would make if you were to prepare the recipe again. Maybe even snap a pic of your delicious dish.

Step 3 - Review! (post by Monday 4/22)
On your sparkpeople blog, review your recipe. Include a link to your recipe for folks who aren't playing the game. Post the picture if you took one. Describe any changes you made or would make if you made it again. Was it a hit with the kids? Would the leftovers make a great lunch? Maybe it was a flop and you ended up throwing it all out. You get the gist. Come back to this thread and post a link to your blog so we all can "Ooooh and Aaaah" over your recipe! If the website that you got the recipe from has reviews, comment there so that even more folks can benefit from your awesomeness. Read other people's reviews and comment on their blogs. You never know, you might stumble across your new favorite recipe!

No suggestion this round. Make whatever you like!
I realize that one round every two weeks is a little slow for some of us, but a round every week would be a little quick and could become burdensome. If you are on a roll and want to do multiple recipes/blogs, have at it!!

Let's have fun trying new recipes! If you have any questions, be sure to ask! You can ask here or sparkmail me.

~Mandy~
