That is a great goal. and very reasonable.
I should get back to tracking my calories again. I eat good food just don't watch portions as well as I was.
I think you just SPARKED ME!!!! into getting back on the program. Thanks Egg.

My workouts have suffered too. I did do a 30 minute walk yesterday. I did loose 5 pounds doing the challenge.

The water part is easy for me and so are the veggies, but lately my work outs have suffered. I have gotten so busy, I am not gaining weight but I have not really lost too much either, my clothes fit better though.

Haven't been posting much but am doing pretty good with the challenge. I've been eating the vegetables and am using the gazelle every other day which is good for me at this point. Water is never a problem as I love it. Have enjoyed this challenge. emoticon

Amber,
Thank you for the very helpful articles! I will definitely print them & use them! I'm hoping w/ the physical therapy that my knees will be tolerable and not hinder me from losing the weight that I'd like to lose...

I hope you feeling better! Continued success in your weight loss journey. emoticon

Gwen congrats on the weight loss. You can do it!

Suzi sorry to hear about your knee. Spark people have some exercises you can do while seated.

As for me sorry I was sick the last two weeks and did not do much of nothing. I did loose 10 pounds beacause I was not eating much, only soup. I am hoping i don't gain much back. I did walk 2 miles today and plan on doing a video later.

I'm right there w/ you Gwen. I completely empathize w/ you!

I just found out I hardly have any cartilage left in the inside of my right knee, and have bone spurs all around my knee cap, and arthritis to boot! (The same in my left knee.) I'm tellin' ya, it's so difficult to lose weight when you have physical limitations. I'm going to physical therapy 2 times a wk, and hopefully can at least ride my bike or do something to get this weight off!

I have been lagging on getting my jump start into this, but I have lost 3 pounds and we still have 9 days to go. I actually jogged 1.5 miles yesterday and want to do it again. I have been eating poorly, but hope I can get that under control too and get close to my 10 pound weight loss goal, though just being in the 160's will make me happy!

You're not alone. I worked out yesterday but not today - don't usually work out on Sunday. My problem has been the eating. I've also had way too many sinple carbs (sweets). Have already planned my eating for tomorrow and am getting back on track. Should be able to work out, too. emoticon

Hi Friends,

NOT a great weekend for me. Didn't work out yesterday or today, and have been eating WAY too many simple carbs, and chocolate. I really hadn't been craving either these past few weeks, but realized that I haven't eaten enough healthy protein this weekend, and that, combined with lack of exercise, led me to backtrack and do unhealthy stuff. I'm going to do a short workout DVD this evening, so the weekend's not a total wash and I can get back on track TODAY rather than tomorrow.

I worked out for about 50 minutes before work this morning. I didn't have a fruit/milk/protein smoothie like I usually do right after work, but went out for coffee and cake with a friend, and I really felt the difference. Had some stir fry tofu and rice when I got home. So not a perfect day, and I'm sure I'll be up a little tomorrow when I weigh myself, but the good thing is I didn't feel like "okay, I've had cake and coffee, now I can just blow it and eat anything" like I've often done in the past.

I always drink at least 2 1.5 liter bottles of water a day. Most days more.

Veggies and fruits are easy- I am a vegetarian so I do anyway.

And today I got on my treadmill with the SPARK Book and read it while I walked at 3.5 on a 4-8 incline for 3 hours. My heart rate monitor read that I burned over 2000 calories while reading the SPARK!!!

Thanks for the encouragement. Did the water and veggies today but no exercise as the knee is bothering me a bit. I think my biggest problem is that I'm impatient about the exercise. Until I hurt my knee I was walking 2-3 miles 2-4 days a week. Those days are over for me but I can still exercise - just have to do it differently.

HARPEGGIO, go to your SparkPage (click SparkPages up top) then click, "View your Spark Page" button (upper right side).

Once on your spark page, click, "Edit my Sparkpage".

Then scroll down to the "My Weight Loss Ticker" section.

You should be able to figure it from there. :)

Start - 205 Lbs
Jan 3 - Success
Jan 4 - 64oz+ Water, probably only 4 vegs. and technically 30 mins of walking but it was just normal walking around during the day. Below par.
Jan 5 - Did ok, probably not quite enough vegetables
Jan 6 - Like the 5th
Jan 7 - Success and got lots of activity
Jan 8 - Like the 8th
Jan 9 - Going ok so far but I am really tired.

I am doing a little experiment with this challenge.

First I am not going to weigh myself till the end of it.

Second I am significantly increasing my activity level. That is the hardest part of this challenge for me to begin with. Normally I don't workout everyday and doing that has been a real change - and I am loving it! So I am putting my emphasis here.

Third, I am eating a little more freely. No where near out of control, but with my increased activity I am a lot more hungry. So I am listening to my body and giving it what I want not what the calorie counter says.

I think it is more important for ,myself to reestablish a serious exercise regiment rather than being concerned with weight or perfect diet.

Sorry to ramble :)

Do the water, do the workouts, then my SIL gave me all of her "extra cookies" to take with me to a meeting I had to be at, and oh my gosh the cravings and addictions set in and I have been on a cookie calories nose dive. so there are no more now and I am sure that as soon as the cravings quit I will be ok.

Doing ok so far. Not able to exercise 30 minutes every day. Am trying to do 30 every other day with 15 minutes on the days between. Drinking more than 8 glasses of fluid and eating 5 fruits/vegs daily.
Big issue will be staying consistent. Got to work on that!

I've had a good week so far. Been eating really mindfully, and healthy and have worked out every morning before work for at least 45 minutes to a workout DVD. Went to a friend's birthday party, but didn't totally blow it, like I usually would. Passed on all the snacks, and had one small piece of pizza and a cappuccino. Hurray! Though I may not drop any weight when I weigh myself tomorrow morning (the pizza was pretty salty), I was proud of myself for staying in control and not just thinking "oh well, it's a party. Eat whatever you want." Small steps when I've got such a long way to go, but hey, little by little!

Today Jan. 7th I have had 66 oz of water and had 3 servings of fruits and Veggies. If I get a late night craving I will try (no promises) to eat that instead!

I am in, I let idiots stop my progress when they tried to tear apart my marriage. We are back on track so that means that I can once again concentrate on me. I will start this tomorrow. I now weigh weigh 176 my goal for Feb. 14th is 170. Maybe if I start out small I can reach my goal.

Best of luck to all.

I made the water part of the challenge - no problem there as I drink at least that much every day and I've had my 6 fruits/veggies. Was only able to exercise for 15 minutes but that is the most I've done since surgery and I'm really pleased. Still looking forward to doing 30 minutes, hopefully soon! emoticon

Alright I'll give this a try. Getting a day late start, but I did meet the objectives yesterday.

Starting weight 205. Goal weight... hmm. I am not going to be ambitious, so let's say anything sub 200.

Thanks for the challenge.

Okay, I'm in. After all the eating and drinking during the holidays I NEED to get back on track. This is my first challenge. I did lose 12 pounds during Oct. Nov. and early Dec. but I haven't been posting and tracking carefully for the past three weeks. So here's to the start of a New Year! Thanks.

When I first found Spark I weighed in at 196 at a WW meeting that a friend of mine took me too. (clue LOL)I weighed 190 when I began using spark for real and started using the trackers and everything the site has to offer, in 95 days I now weigh 166!!! And I lost weight during the holidays too. I am already drinking the water and working out, and all the things this challenge is asking for other teams and challenges, so this is just a another great way to be accountable. I really enjoy it. namaste

I am feeling Super Depressed. I just realized I gained 7 pounds in the last two months. Hopefully this challenge will help put my butt in gear.

Thanks Amber!

The last year my weight has been a roller coaster ride. I started at 210 lbs and by mid year, had dropped to 173 lbs but I keep yo-yoing back and forth about ten pounds and I rarely eat anything because I have another disease that makes eating difficult. I don't know how I got back to 190, my current weight. I think its partly middle age spread and retention of water. I am gonna take the challenge. It can't hurt, that is for sure, and hopefully it will help. my goal is to get back in the same pare of jeans I have had in my closet since high school(fashions come back)and when I was wearing them I weighed about 155 lbs. HELP!! emoticon

I'm doing the Boot Camp too. So far, I like Sunday and Monday's videos. Anyone else check out Monday's video? What does everyone think about it?

This will start January 3 and will end February 14. The chalenge is simple. Eat 5 fruits/veggies, get in 64 oz of water, and exercise for at least 30 minutes a day. Post here daily to talk about how you are doing with the challenge.

Post starting weight for challenge, and goal weight.

Whose up for the challenge?
