Hi All,
My husband and I just recently adopted two young Siamese sister kitties and wow did it liven up our household. They make us laugh and it feels good taking two unwanted (they were FIV positive) cats out of a shelter situation. -Holly

i have many, many critters yet it seems at times i spend most of my time going to doctors for various different parts of my physical upkeep... my family doctor farms all my different issues to specialists required for them and sometimes i wish i could just do some one stop shopping... tooo many durned ologists in my life.... lol... but i must admit... i am better today than when i first started going to her almost two years ago... so i hope some day to start reducing ologists and the pills they prescribe... my journey to health is a big part of this and it started with overeaters anonymous almost 2 years ago... i realize there are some meds i'll probably always have to take... but am looking forward to reducing my current collection... i'm also proud of me for finally taking everything responsibly now instead of sporadically as before oa... i play a big role in my health and lack of it at times... and it's up to me to make changes in my life to assist the doctors in my getting better...

so i'll take the docs for now and keep on walking....

have a great day every one!!!

a little piece of joy this morning... from my four legged children...

one of my imperial shih-tzu pups was rejected by it's mother so i put her in with my almost 2 week old shih-tzu pups and ms t the momma has taken her in... i've been doing supplemental feedings and this morning when i picked bella up to feed her i realized her eyes are starting to open... it delighted me that this pup with odds stacked against her is doing soooo well... and her new momma will be thrilled to hear about the open eyes this morning... i feel blessed that ms t was able to take her in even tho she had 7 pups of her own... ms t came to us as an abused dog and for 2 years we've thought her baron... and now here she is raising a litter of seven and adopting a tiny pup from another litter...

i love my canine family... this is the best job i've ever had and i'm finally happy for the first time in my life... overeaters anonymous helped me realize this joy and gave me some of the tools necessary to live a life in recovery from the pain of my past... i am indeed a very happy person this morning and just wanted to share...

hope you all have a wonderful day!!!!!!!!!

i litterally have an army of dogs with 40+ and 11 pups at the moment... we also have a countertop kitty, 14 guinea and a walking horse we rescued at the brink of starvation... i spend more on critter food than groceries by far... but i indeed feel blessed to have these children in my life... i have a few favorites but love them all... some folks used to tell me if i'd just have a kid i wouldnt need all my critters... are you kidding me??? i love my neice and nephew but my canine kids are my life... they help me keep my sanity even when they tend to drive me insane sometimes... i love my life here on the farm with my critters and the most amazing man i've ever met... i wouldnt have it any other way!!!!!!!

Once my life calms down, I plan on adopting 2 dogs and maybe a cat. My life is just too uncertain right now, but once I finish grad school and move to my own place, I fully plan on adopting dogs. I just can't see my life without at least 1!

I don't have a furry pet. I have a Phoenix Bearded Dragon and Mountain Horned Lizard, do they count? The bearded dragon spends a lot of time with me when I am just hanging around the house. He runs all over the place and I have to chase him lol.

This weekend was heaven... while many people were tied up with not so enjoyable family obligations, BF and I spent the whole weekend with the cats. They were so sad that we were back to our normal routine on Monday!

I've had some sort of pet almost my entire life, I can't imagine being without one! My 3 kitties drive me nuts sometimes, but I love them.

I can't wait to have a dog again, too. But right now, it wouldn't be fair to the dog. So I "borrow" other people's dogs. I walk with neighbors and their dogs. I help out another neighbor when she dog sits. And I dog wsit for my sister when she needs me. I get my fix, and I can feel it lower my stress. Especially when I dog sit and stay with them. I have to go to sleep earlier, and my mornings are much less rushed, so I feel better.

I've known that I've wanted dog(s) for awhile, especially being here and so remote from social life. Choosing not to have dog(s) has been good for them (too much of our traveling would leave them alone) but I would really love dog(s) during the crappy winters here. SOON I hope!

Shucks, I've known this since 1981, when my dad, a career military officer, first brought home a dog for the family. That was the first year he didn't struggle with his blood pressure for his annual physical.

Lowers blood pressure, encourages exercise, improves psychological health - these may sound like the effects of a miracle drug, but they are actually among the benefits of owning a four-legged, furry pet.

"Pets are of great importance to people, especially during hard economic times," Johnson said. "Pets provide unconditional love and acceptance and may be part of answers to societal problems, such as inactivity and obesity."
