So...SparkPeople decided to follow suit in terms of privacy and sharing information as Facebook and Twitter. In other words, don't tell and allow open sharing without permission. I don't share my blogs or status updates on Facebook because I have a few people I work with, on my Facebook account. This is my private time and I don't really want people in my community or workplace reading about my struggles with this journey.
Is it true that even if we donít share our blog on Facebook or Twitter that someone else could do that? I read on another blog that if someone comes in and reads my blog, that they can click ďshareĒ and put it on their Facebook account. Iím surprised that this can be done, when our writing is our own Ė copyright should come into play on this, youíd think. I own my words, not someone else. SparkPeople is adamant that we canít just lift and post something from a magazine but itís okay if someone lifts and links to our stuff? That confuses me. Anyhow, Iíll be removing that right immediately.
Just in case you have not yet seen this SP has implemented a new feature without informing us: there is now a share bar at the top & bottom of your blog posts that easily allow others to share your blogs on Facebook and Twitter. This shows up whether or not you have a Faceook / Twitter account or you have linked your SP account to Facebook.
Personally if I wanted my blogs (or any other information on SP) on Facebook I would put them there myself. I really do not care to have others sharing my blogs off-site without my knowledge or permission.
To remove this share bar go to your Spark Page, choose Edit My Sparkpage and in the upper right under "More Options" uncheck the box to include the Share bar on your blogs.
