I don't drink soda. I just do not care for it but I have Osteoporosis and there is no family history of it. My mom died 3 years ago at the age of 86 and she did not have Osteoporosis. I knew my great grandmothers on both sides and there was no sign anywhere of it. I did smoke when I was younger. I wonder if that could have anything to do with it. Guess I'll never know. Now I have to understand what will make my bones stronger and work on it. I need help!
I lived on Mountain Dew for decades - never drank coffee or water or, frankly, anything but Mountain Dew. There isn't a history of osteo in my family, so I seem to be the anecdotal evidence for this.
Here's another article published on LiveStrong.com (an SP competitor) that gives a list of soda ingredients that might be contributing to the development on osteo. Not surprised to see my nectar of the gods - Dew Me! - mentioned.
