What I am going to do to avoid consume junk food as much as possible? Key words "as much as possible." Before I reach I will ask myself 1) Am I really hungry? 2) Do I really want this and what other optional food choice can replace it? 3) If I am really going to just go for it, I will have it and move on. Workout a little more and get back on track. It's life not prison; everything in moderation. So far its working.

Well, I guess I know that I am not going to entirely stay away from junk/sweets at any time of the year. They are my downfall. SO, what I must regularly do is EXERCISE!! I find that works best for me. And I eat a lot of fruit. I hope somebody replies to this, I'd really like to meet some fellow New Yorkers! I'm from the Catskill Mtn. region. - Diane A. C. - emoticon

Fell off the wagon yesterday I was craving chocolate and ate a Milky way mint chocolate bar. Ok now I got it out of my system and moving forward. The only challenge this week will be my sister sweet potatoe pies on Christmas.

You don't have to be great to start...but you have to start to be great.

I have been back from Israel about a week and a half. I only ate "clean" over there because they do not eat processed foods although I did have a couple of Israeli doughnuts for Chanukah but all in all since I've been back I have eaten only good, healthy food. When I want something sweet, I've been reaching for fruit!! (on a plus note, I've lost 5 lbs since I've been back and have no idea how that happened but I'll take it!!)

The longest journey starts with one step.

I am determined! Surrounded by cookies daily I have managed to not eat even 1. I have struggled so long now I am realizing these little "special occasions" last year round. I am not going to splurge until I am in control of my goal weight. So, GOODBYE Cookies, Candy, Baked goodies, Greasy, Gooey, Deep Fried, Not good for me food! I do not need you anymore!!!!!! What is amazing is I have found Low fat, good for me food that tastes great :) I am strong now, hopefully those old feelings won't creep back and I fall back into this vicious cycle.

So hard to do.....I have 'sinned' twice, but I have stayed away from any Christmas cookies which I consider to be an accomplishment. My downfall is the cheese....had brie on Saturday, and a rich ziti with lots of ricotta on Friday. I'll see if I can do better for the rest of the month :-)

I didn't think I would make it through this challenge without cheating a lot, but I actually did it. I had one tiny little slip up but it was towards the end and it had to be a blueberry cordial. I did stay away from all other sweets, chips and munchies and even my beloved frappes from Burger King. I feel so much better and I even lost 10lbs in the process. I used to pick at potato chips near bed time, but because of this challenge, I think that habit has been canned! I admit I still will have chips but they are sweet potato chips and home made with a dash of cinnamon.

Yesterday I felt like having some Pepperidge Farm Mint Milano cookies. So I bought a package, put five onto a dish and took the rest to my son's house for that skinny family to share. Junk food? Nope. It fit into my plan just fine.

So far, so good. Junk food hasn't tempted me.... (Yet?)!!

P.S. - There are still 3 on the dish which is covered.

I didn't realize how much junk I actually ate before starting this challenge. It's so easy to grab something and go and not realize it. And even after telling my children about this challenge, my youngest still has tried to pop a piece of chocolate in my mouth. But I stopped her before she was able to get my mouth open. I found out the best thing, besides apples, to eat when I want some chips: Banana chips. No sugar. Just a little bit of coconut oil and bananas. Nice a crispy and work just as good. And I only eat a serving and my crunchy munchies go away.

Doing better with the no junk challenge yesterday I did have a small piece of cake at work that a co-worker won, I was very mindful of my portion just a enough to celebrate with her and move on. I can post that I have not had any potatoes chips, pretzels, or any other salty treats. I am going to stay true to myself this coming week until Friday (Holiday Party) I will watch how much and control my portions.

Just noticed this and I'm in. I did have cookies earlier this (danish butter cookies) but thanks to an OCD coworker who, (in her zeal to "organize" the cookies and remove papers from the tin) managed to TOUCH almost every cookie, I won't be going back to them!

I cna relate to the problem with teenagers. I have boys and they're a bottomless pit. Its impossible to keep chips and dips out of the house. And friends come and it's a zoo. I'm keep celery and carrots around for myself and making lowcal version of dip with nofat sour cream.

I am in. I just started taking Zumba last Monday and I feel wonderful. Cutting out the junk food and replacing it with apples and other fruits that are crunchy will help keep me from eating chips. But this will be a little hard with 2 teenagers trying to shove food in my mouth. Good luck everyone. Remember, berries for something sweet, apples for something crunchy, and chocolate whips yogurt for that chocolate fix.

I am in for this challenge. I find that one of my hardest things is to get away from fast food, because it is so fast and easy. My husband does all the cooking and if he is too tired he gets fast food which makes things even harder but I am going to try and make my own food if he wont participate with me on this. I am excited to try this out for the next two weeks. If anyone has any suggestions on easy things I can have in the house to make on those days let me know.

I'm definitely in. Sucks because I told my husband to shut me down whenever I asked him to buy me junk food and last night I asked for a Snicker bar on his way home from work. He goes to the drugstore and buys me a 6 pack! This is going to be quite the challenge for me. Good luck!! emoticon

I guess it depends on how you react to eating something. For me chocolate is junk food as are potato chips, cookies, and cake. If I start eating any of these things I tend to mindlessly munch beyond reason.

Junk food is quite a general term and some of us on a different challenge had a hard time discerning exactly what qualifies as "junk food". What I thought of it as, others included items that could also be thought of as healthy...such as one glass of red wine.
Thoughts on this??
