Our church reads through the Bible in a year together. It is so exciting! Then we discuss at the beginning of Sunday School what we got from reading The Word that week!

Most of the plans that are phone apps also nave an online version to guide you through the various plans. Any of them can be easily printed. Whatever plan works is wonderful! However we get the Word into our hearts on a consistent basis is a fabulous thing!

The phone/kindle app is just for convenience. Its getting into the Word that is important! You can easy print out the plan and tuck it into a good ole' hard copy of the Bible in your favorite translation. emoticon

I still have one foot very firmly in the Dark Ages - my phone is for making and receiving calls, and Himself (my DH) refuses to get texting; so there's certainly no apps. LOL That's ok, I've survived this long with just the basics. I did get an old, very basic Kindle this summer - one of my kids got a better one for Christmas last year, and I bought her old one from her. : ) So I only have ONE foot in the Dark Ages. emoticon

The Archaeological Bible sounds very interesting. I'll have to check it out.

I use YouVersion.com's app on my phone for my daily bible reading (bible in a year). I've done chronological and historical plans in the past. This year I'm doing one like you are doing, with new and old testaments and a psalm or proverb each day. I usually pick a different version each year. I did God's Word Version last year. I did the Message year before that. This year I'm going home to NIV again. My husband is going to do his daily reading plan in my Archaeological Bible this year. I'll do that one next year. It has such awesome commentary. There is nothing more exciting than God's word!!

This year, many in our church (including DH and I) are reading the NIV Daily Bible. The book is set up such that each day you read some from the Old Testament, some from the New Testament and some from either Psalms or Proverbs. One idea is to read through the Bible in a year, but more importantly to get to know God better by reading His word. As said in the introduction, "The Scriptures are the sacred writing of God's revelation. One of their critical teachings is that God's word itself is an active force in the world. God makes things happen by his word. The creation was spoken into being by God."

One of things that I have found that keeps me on track in all areas of my life is keeping a regular devotional time. If I keep on track with devotions I keep on track with exercise and diet. I think that my personal relationship with God is way more important then my physical weight but on the other hand know that I can serve Him better healthy and that is what he desires for me.
My church is doing the OWNIT365 NT+ program. The plan is to read through the New Testament in one year. There is also family, small group and personal resources available. My challenge is to complete this this year along with moving toward my healthy live style goals. Will you do it with me?

Emily
