I have tried tofu... I don't like the texture. But, I also have to stay away from soy because of a health issue, so I don't eat it, but I had to try it!

I will replace ground meat in some recipes with lentils. They work perfectly in spaghetti sauce!

A healthy snack that I enjoy on occasion is Celery sticks dipped in Salsa. I know, it sounds strange, but I LOVE tortilla chips & salsa, but know that I shouldn't have them as often as I would like. The celery has the crunch that I like, and salsa (watch the sodium) is just oh so good!

I like Jason's Deli a lot. I've been to the one on Mason, not sure if there's another in Katy. I work in Houston and the ones on Wilcrest and in City Center/Town and Country are where I've been the most. I like the marinated grilled chicken salad. I had a Mediterranean Wrap from there at a training once and it was really good. Don't know the calories/NI for that. It looked like the best choice available from the options at the training. I think they have a website with the NI for their foods.

I follow Dr. D'Adamo's Blood Type Diet. It has been amazing! It was hard the first few days but after I got over my carb detox it was great.

I discovered Gardenburger Spicy chipotle black bean burgers and Morningstar farms spicy black bean burgers. Both of them are awesome. They don't really replace a burger when you are really in the mood for one, but a black bean patty with pepperjack cheese on a whole wheat sandwich thin is a pretty tasty friday night dinner.

I definitely like these better than Turkey burgers. Way more flavor.

I try to experiment to replace unhealthier food options with healthy ones.

Share your favorite home-made alternative to something that either has too much calories/fat or doesn't provide great nutritional value.

Heather knows this one, but I make pizzas with whole wheat fajita sized tortillas. I use a little tomato sauce (low-sodium), spinach, sun dried tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, either sliced chicken or ground turkey (and even the occasional turkey pepperoni) and a mix of part-skim mozzarella and shredded parmesan cheese.

I get all the flavors I love on a pizza without all the fat and calories of a Pizza Hut or Dominoes pizza. Works great if you like a crispy crust.
