"Researchers at the University of California, at Davis tested a variety of wines to determine which types have the highest concentrations of flavonoids. Their results concluded that the flavonoid favorite is Cabernet Sauvignon, followed closely by Petit Syrah and Pinot Noir. Both Merlots and red zinfandels have fewer flavonoids than their more potent predecessors."

Okay, it looks like there might be other options. Bummed that Lambrusco isn't one of them.

[EDIT] Here's another link - http://www.chiff.com/a/wine-red-cholestero
l.htm - but it's contradicting the zinfadels. O_o

The one I picked out was called Bear Boat, I think. I don't know if a different brand would be any better for me...

I'll check it out when I get to Total Wine when I looked at their site - the Director was about $15.00 and the Diamond about $20.00 - so the Director is probably the "regular"

Thanks Have a great evening...

Daughter says label is not silver,so it is not Diamond. So she assumes the Director. At first, she said "regular".

Hope that helps!!

thanks for the suggestion - I've heard that, but not much of a drinker - going to try it.

Just checked Total Wine - they have 2 of this Pinot Noir a Director and a Diamond....any idea which one your daughter drinks????

Hey, all!

I've read that Pinot Noir wine is the best for fighting/lowering cholesterol. I picked some up, and was disappointed to find that I don't really care for the taste. Are there any other beneficial red wines for cholesterol out there? I favor Lambrusco, but I don't know how much it helps, if at all.

Thanks! :-)
