There are also a number of recipes on this site using Quinoa. I've already tried a few and they were good.

Thank You everyone for your tips. I will try Quinoa. I read tofu is another high protein source that is low in fat. Is folate really necessary. I know it is important for pregnant mothers but do we need that high of folate?

For protein get some Quinoa. It is very high in protein.

brown rice, kamut (a type of wheat, cooks like rice), beans mixed with rice makes a complete protein.

Also on mostly protein. Can't eat dry chicken. I have a lapband and it sticks in throat. I eat fish and turkey but Love that darn cheese. I lsot 85 lbs and am thin. Down from 256 to 171. I was told that I was lean. I take medicine for cholesterol already and exercise al the time.
I wonder what I should do.

Hi,

For folate watch your cereals, kix, chex are two I have had that seem to have high amounts. Broccoli, peas. Some pastas I have had, egg noodles, Barilla Penne.

Protein, tuna in water, haddock and they listed the other white meats.

I am not sure as my son finished it so I can't check to box but he drinks Rice Milk. He likes it better than lactate free or soy milks.

I have a folate dietary supplement, if mine is low I take my vitamin at night.

My problems are magnesium and vitamin K.

How about some nuts for protein? Folate, I have no clue, as I don't track it.

I just started this group on tuesday and have been logging my nutrition and everytime I look at my feedback of my nutrition for the day. My report always says I need more protein and folate. How do you do this when you need low fat meals. I am meat eater but allergic to milk. Mind you I do have fat free milk with my cereal but small amounts. I can eat chees but like I said small amount but cheese has high of fat and well does meats. So what can I do up my protien and how do you get folate?
