Hot flashes are tricky and can disappear for a while and then suddenly reappear stronger than ever!

Yay to the big fans! I tried to stand underneath a big ceiling fan inbetween Zumba songs at class! My hot flashes don't seem to be a bad this week, but I don't want to speak too soon!

I have found doing spin near the big fan helped a lot!

I've been taking showers at night and sometimes getting my hair wet. The wet hair helps with the severity of the hot flashes and I can sleep.

Yes, to all of those things. It's been REALLY hot here, so I've been taking my showers in the evening (to get some relief from a hot day.) Just last night, I got out of the shower & into cool fresh PJs....only to start hot flashes that made me feel like I needed another shower! emoticon

I routinely have hot flashes on the treadmill. I've been a runner over half my life, and have been suffering hot flashes and night sweats since July of 2006. My heart rate goes up, and I sweat more when I flash while running than when I'm just plain running. It cracks me up when people prescribe exersize for controlling hot flashes.....

Has anyone noticed that you flash while in the dressing room, trying on clothes? Or right after you get out of the shower, or right after you get all dressed up, or when you get emotional (especially angry)??? Or when you're having a good time with the one you love??? Or the very second you wake up from sleep, or lay down to go to sleep???????

Yeah, I've been there, done that, and got the tee shirt!!!!!

When will they stop?????? That's my question!

Yes you can have hot flashes while exercising! It happens to me in the swimming pool. Suddenly the water feels icy, The good news is if you have to have a hot flash the pool certainly cools you off fast! emoticon

I NEVER used to sweat, seriously, which is why I used to overheat easily. There has to be a happy medium somewhere in between. Now when I work out, I literally drip and it's so uncomfortable. Ugh.

Thanks Deena. Lately I have been having a lot of hot flashes. It is driving me nuts to suddenly be dripping in sweat.

Hot flashes can come at ANY time of the day or night & be an isolated small one or several back-to-back. Some things can trigger one like hot drinks, hot rooms, etc. but you can have them without anything "hot" going on, too. I know both from personal experience and because I'm an RN. Hormones surges don't care about whether it's light or dark.

I have never had that experience, but if you are concerned, I would suggest speaking to your doctor to make sure there isn't some other cause.

Is it possible to get hot flashes while exercising? I was on the elliptical with a steady heart rate in the high 120's. Suddenly I started sweating and my heart rate jumped 10 points! A few minutes later my heart rate was back down and I wasn't sweating. Except for sweating, I felt find the whole time. Any similar experiences?
