I torch calories by doing a 60 second spell on my elliptical as fast as I can go. It really pumps up the heartrate. I try and do this many times during the day. Night is easiest, as it breaks up the telly adverts.
Well it looks a little funny but when I go grocery shopping, I will do little squats with a side leg lift while walking down the aisles. Needless to say, my 10 year old won't walk anywhere near me, lol.
THIS Your QuickFire Challenge Team, You already know that small bits of fitness add up to big results! Every time you're active throughout the day, not just at the gym or on the field, has benefits that really add up. We build up our exercise quotient in small ways: park far away from the mall or office, get off the bus or subway a stop early, and take the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator. All the little moments of exercise will add up.
Every bit of movement you add to your day will certainly help! Small changes can make huge differences over time. For example, think about that 120 calories/day. Since there are about 3500 calories in a pound of fat, 120 calories/day works out to about a pound of fat per month. That's 12 pounds in year, and 120 pounds in a decade ;-)
What are the fun, creative and interesting ways you burn extra calories and get active during the day? While on the road? At the office? In your car (be careful!)? Waiting in line, for appointment, etc.,? Anywhere & Everywhere you feel inspired to get more activity into your day!
