Last night I managed to do about 30 mins of my crocheting. I am in the middle of a runner for my sewing machine table and I want to do a similar one for my chest of drawers.

Hi Anne, I use Knit Pics too, the patterns are really reasonable and very easy to get hold of. I love knitting and crocheting so I always have my hands full especially when I am watching tv.

You gals have been busy as I have also. NE Ohio has had wretched temperatures so it is a good time to stay in and stay warm. I just finished another quilt which is posted on my blog. Now I am working on a quilt for my thirteen year old granddaughter. Also knitting an enterlac vest. Hope all are working on their exercise program also. Please help to motivate me on that aspect.

My favorite place online for more cost-effective yarn is Knit Picks. I'm not certain where you live but I have always been happy with their yarn. Otherwise, I have been known to hoard JoAnns coupons for Patons wool to make it cheaper emoticon . Happy stitching..

Right now, I'm sewing a summer dress. But, a friend of mine has asked me about crocheting her some leg warmers. Soon, I will be on the search for more natural fibre yarns. She doesn't care for acrylics. This will be interesting, and I hope not too expensive. Needing to keep this on the low budget. Idk if that's even do-able. We shall see. Anyone have a suggestion on yarns that are cottons or wool & NOT expensive???

DD likes to knit scarves. She knit one & I crocheted it together for her at the end, to make it an infinity scarf. I decided that I wanted to make myself an infinity scarf, too. I crocheted one, making it have a ruffle all along the edges. Then, with some leftover yarn, I made a matching hat that has a bill to it. It seems kind of loose on me, but still looks nice. As long as it doesn't blow off in the wind, I'm ok. LOL. You can tell it's gotten cold around here, since we are thinking about scarves & hats.

Yesterday I worked on a doll dress with my youngest daughter. She now has a new appreciation for the work it takes to do sewing. (She thought it would take an hour or so, and we still have work to do on it today.)

I might post a picture on my blog later, if I get a chance.

Funny how we each wish we knew the other craft. I've always wished I could knit. I think knitting has more of a variety of pretty stitches & looks more delicate.

The pink dress you're making sounds very nice.

I am done with my crocheting baby (boy) projects, for now & am sewing a small (9 x 11 size) messenger bag. I've sewn a larger one, before. So, this is just me winging it, using smaller measurements.

I finished the baby ripple afghan. With the same yarn, I had tried to make a hooded baby sweater. All the pieces were done, except the hood. I tried making the hood piece, but it didn't look right at all. I decided to wing it a bit and just stitch the lil coat together, making it without a hood. It's a baby yarn that is white, flecked with blue. I put 3 white buttons on it. My baby gift is almost complete. I've been purchasing a few other items to pack along with it & sending to a friend who lives out of state. I love to put together little care pkg's of sorts. emoticon

I'm crocheting a ripple baby afghan, out of a pretty white & blue yarn. I'm using a pattern I found online. It's my 2nd try, as the first pattern had flaws to it & didn't compute. The numbers didn't work past the 2nd row. Anyway, for some reason....I can't sleep & am starting this project in the wee hours....feeling like I must be crazy for doing so.

I've been crocheting an afghan that I finished yesterday. I decided to make a ruffle along the border. I did that by stitching 3 double crochet in each stitch. You can also use 3 double crochet in one stitch, then 2 in the next. 3-2-3-2-3-2, and so on. Its a cute touch.

Everybody tells me that they would love to knit, but they don't have time. I look at people's lives and I can see opportunity and time for knitting all over the place. The time spent riding the bus each day? That's a pair of socks over a month. Waiting in line? Mittens. Watching TV? I am presently cutting out the pieces for a cross body bag that will be kind of a mini messenger bag. The pattern describes it as a map bag. I seem to have a thing for tote bags. I enjoy making them and collecting them, and also giving them as gifts.

I have a crochet car seat blanket that I am trying to finish. With all of the interruptions I have been getting of late I am wondering if it will ever be done. Will be nice once it is finished. Last year I made one for a co-workers first grandchild and they all loved it. Especially the fact it has openings for the set belt in the car seat.

It was about a week ago, I finished a feather and fan patterned scarf made with yarn that has bamboo and silk in it. (I got it a while ago, and had used it for something else and didn't have the label any longer- but it was nice and soft). So, now I am working on another scarf, same pattern, with acrylic yarn that is black. gray and white variegated Red Heart Yarn.
I have not done a whole lot of work on it this week, because I have been fighting the sore throat and I've been weak, and kept a headache.

I started a cardigan sweater for my friends 3 year old daughter in pink. I was in town today and bought it buttons too. They are pink and white stripped or I could put on the ones with dots. Haven't decided yet! This is my first small sweater. Shouldn't take too long.

I've been kind of restless today. I knitted on my sweater, scarf, and the mitt-gloves. However, I didn't knit on anything for very long.

I walked to the Post Office and got the mail today. First time this week! Ya!!

I even tried to read a book. I just don't know what's been wrong with me today. I didn't even want to watch tv. I can't even sleep. I went to bed and got back uip after lying there for an hour. This is crazy!! Haven't done this for years.

Guess I'll go see if I can find a book.

Carrie - that should be plenty of time; if your life doesn't get in your way the way mine does.

I had an appointment at the diabetes clinc today, so I took the mitt-gloves I'm working on and to my horror I dropped a stitch and didn't discover it until three (3) rounds later! Bummer!! I had to quit knitting because I have to take it back to where I dropped the stitch to fix it!! It gave me a chance to talk to the girl sitting next to me; she wanted to know what I was making and why. She was a very interesting girl. Wanted to know if knitting is hard. I said only when you don't pay attention to what you're doing. I am still knitting the cuff in the rib stitch!!

Carrie - I hope you get it finished. You're pretty quick with you quilt making. It would take me a couple of weeks or at least a month if I was making it.

I put the sleeves on my sweater yesterday and knit up the yoke til I ran out of yarn. Had to stop and dig out more. I've also been knitting on my challenge scarf; I've added the third skein already. Trying to have it finished before Monday. I should get in lots of knitting tomorrow it's a football day and it's going to rain.

Have a good weekend.

A lady from church is teaching a knitting/crocheting, and so I am taking it. I finished a wash cloth (knitting) just the straight knit stitch now working on one with knit/purl stitch, plus we started crocheting, which is what I wanted to learn. I am doing ok, but when it comes to tension of the yarn, still need a little work on that, but not bad. I am really enjoying it. Hey-even used my red, white and green wash cloth.
Have to remind myself I am just a beginner-I want to jump right into all those intermediate/advanced patterns. Got to learn patience. emoticon

WOW!! You knit fast.

I'm only about 1/3 of way done with my scarf. I put it aside today to try to finish my sweater. It got very cool here, 42 degrees; I wish I could wear it. I only have about an inch to go and I can add the sleeves. Then I can knit the yoke and neck.

I won't get to wear it this cool snap, but I will be ready for cold weather.

Still knitting on my sweater. I'm about ready to start a new skein of yarn. That should be the last one for the body and then I can add the sleeves.

I only have 2 days before the knitters challenge starts on monday and my sweater won't be finished. I will continue to work on it until it is finished, but it will slower now because I will also be knitting my challenge projects. I have 4 planned.

I worked on one of the initial pieces for my friends' pillow covers. I just have to put a ruffle around the edge for them. Then I have to do some altering on some of the clothes that are my new size 16 before I pack them for my trip. I hope I can see to do what I want and can get them done in time or I may have to take needle and thread with me to finish there.

I finally finished my afghan that I started about a month ago. I just need to fasten off and I can deliver it to the person who wanted it. I may try that again but maybe in just one, two, or three colors and not quite so many, but that is what she wanted, so that is what she got.

I now have some short projects to do and then after my trip to Tamps this weekend for 12 days I will work on more afghans and occasional gifts.

I'm spending time looking for small quick projects to do next month for the Stash Challenge I joined. Once I find the projects I want to do I'll be matching them to my yarn stash! Should be a fun day. Hopefully, I'll get my second mitt-glove finished today too.

The tablerunner is more springy -- it is made from fat quarters I won last spring. I finally had time to make it. I don't have the name of the block pattern. I just saw it on pinterest and liked it, then adapted it for the runner. I will post a picture as soon as I finish binding it - hopefully in the next couple of days.

Though in preparation for the holidays, I am working on a cross stitch Christmas stocking for my new son-in-law.

Carrie are you getting ready for the holidays??? What pattern is the tablerunner?

I'm still working of the second mit-glove and my sweater. I even helped my weaving partner to practice her tripple twin step-up yesterday.

I'm still knitting on my sweater. I got about an inch finished yesterday. I need to measure it to see how many more inches I need.

I finished one mitt-glove yesterday and I'm not so sure I like the way the cap goes on. The directions were kind of strange but it worked out. It looks like the picture. I got about and inch and a half inches of the second one done.

This should be a good day to finish it..

still working on my shawl.

Everybody tells me that they would love to knit, but they don't have time. I look at people's lives and I can see opportunity and time for knitting all over the place. The time spent riding the bus each day? That's a pair of socks over a month. Waiting in line? Mittens. Watching TV? Buckets of wasted time that could be an exquisite lace shawl. ~Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, At Knit's End: Meditations for Women Who Knit Too Much

I worked on that afghan again this morning while I was sitting outside and grounding, and getting the vitamin D3. I have to have a wedding gift by the 19th so I am going to take a short break and make something for that, then I have baby gifts to do. So I picked out the yearn and found out she likes purple so there will be some purple accents.

Hey all,
Two weeks ago, I got a new heavy duty Singer sewing machine. I'm more of a cross stitcher, but some of the projects I've been eyeing have some sewing ability so here I go into the fray.
I'm making these placemats (with silverware) for my SIL kids. It's slow going because I'm still learning, but I think she will like them.

My local group is doing cough pillows this Monday so bringing the sewing machine to help out and sew them up. If I'm too slow, I'm sure someone can use it and I'll stitch by hand. I can do that.

Also working on some cute little ornaments for all my nieces and nephews. Someone gave me a great idea on how to finish them. I have 4 down, and 2 to go on the ornaments.

I have great appreciation for those who can sew stuff like dresses. I've got a long way to go before that.

I am working on an afghan, but a full size one, for a friend who requested it. I started the fourth row this morning. Won't have any time until tomorrow night to work on it again and I may take it with me Sunday to work on during the seniors club meeting. Then I will also be working on a group of baby items for another friend or two during the same time.

I'm working on yet another baby afghan. This one is an easy pattern that I have done many times before. It is for a little boy whose parents I recently met during a 4th of July celebration. They live in Savannah, GA. Lovely family.

I once had 3 days to make a wedding dress and a veil. We used dresses already made for the attendants and really had to hurry up with it and I was working in my own business at the time, so didn't have all the time I really needed, but as the time of the wedding was approaching I was still putting the hem in the dress. She had a train on the back that would button up behind her - but it did get done. I told her I would not do that again. She will have to give me more time if she does that again.

Good luck. I hope everything turns out ok. - and all the dresses fit without any alterations.

The wedding is August 11. I have people helping with some of the other details, but I am doing most of the sewing myself. One of the bridesmaids just came for her first fitting - so I will make her dress tomorrow. It takes me about 3 hours - from start (cut out) to finish. Today, I am going to attach the sleeves on to the wedding dress and do the bustle button. Also, I will be making the flower girl purses - I am using scrap fabric from the dresses and tartan.

Unfortunately, I had to start the wall hanging again since I was running out of yarn. But I am farther along than I was when I quit working on the other one. It needs to be done by Friday evening. I have two more letters and the border.

Then I have two baby gifts to make and the afghan, too. There are more things I have planned to do as well, but are not due until the end of September.

Hope you have time to get everything done for the wedding. Do you have anyone helping you out?
