When I am aware of a holiday where I will have to eat extra food for 7 days in advance I eat 100 calories less per. day & make sure I get exercise every day for the 7 days. This helps to avoid weight gain & I am not disappointed the day after, after all I do not have a special occasion that involves food every month!

Linda. I live in Canada. My time zone is Pacific Standard Time,daylight savings time. I have chronic kidney disease and low blood pressure & blood clots in my lung. I am on the summer challenge that started July 1. I am on the Teddy Bears Team. I am 54 years old as of last January 12.

Bumping this forward for this year.

I am trying to lose a couple pounds before my doctor's appointment January 12 but am trying to do it "smart". Working today on decreasing the amount of candy I've been eating emoticon

As an endurance athlete, it's hard to lose weight while eating for performance...just as hard as trying to avoid all the yumminess on the holiday table.

So, here's your challenge: rather than focus on losing weight over the holidays, let's focus on maintaining, not gaining, weight during the holidays.

Weigh yourself tomorrow (Weds before the US Thanksgiving).

Be sure to drink plenty of water.

Go easy on the salt and sugar.

Get plenty of sleep.

Journal.

Keep track of every week's progress.

You can do this!
