This sounds like the recipe my Mother used when we were growing up. We always had fruit with our meals at least four times a week. She was always thin....too bad I feel into the fast food track when I left home. I am working on getting back to the basics now and it is working

I read someplace, that having a piece of apple crisp is lower in calorie than a piece of apple pie. It is because of the pie crust. And the oatmeal that you use in the crumble mixture is good for you.

Here is a fast, low calorie, cheat for apple pie.
Take one apple, peel and core it, cut into slices. Toss into non-stick skillet with 3/4 cup water, cover and let it cook/steam for about 15 to 20 minutes, depending on desired firmness for the apple. Occassionally, turning apples as they cook. Drain any remaining water, put apple slices in bowl and sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg to taste. You can also add a touch of sugar, I find Sugar In The Raw to be a good choice. 1 tsp. is only 15 calories.
Then stir and enjoy. Low calorie, plus gives you a full fruit serving for the day.
