I have always worked out by myself for decades and am quite used to it. But this week hubby surprised me and has made the decision to join me in doing P90X and getting stronger and healthier! So Tuesday was a "bring it" dvd of shoulders, bi's and tri's....tonight was the "bring it" dvd of legs and back.

Started using my P90x plus videos the past few days...tried Kenpo Cardio Plus yesterday and got a pretty good workout from it, even though some of the moves were kind of hard to follow because the parings were weird - jabs were paired with uppercuts, etc - I guess I just have to get used to it. Today I did Legs and Back and Abs/Core Plus... some of the Abs/Core Plus exercises are hard, plus since it's not all mat work you move very quickly from one exercise to the next. I had to use the pause button on my dvd remote quite frequently so I could get set up for the next workout. It wasn't a bad workout, I think it will get better as I get used to the exercises. Tomorrow's a rest day, on Tuesday I'll probably try Interval X plus.

Today I got an Insanity workout done...I'm doing p90x/Insanity hybrid right now. I'm on like day 5 or so so I'm not doing too bad. My shoulders and upper back muscles were a little sore yesterday from legs and back.

Well, we're in another time zone here in Germany. Today is already Thursday, whereas in the US it's still Wednesday...

So, yesterday evening I did Chest & Back and Ab Ripper. I struggle with the decline push-ups but was able to do 2 more than last week. I focus on doing the excercises in good form, and do not care so much about the number of reps.

Chest & Back is the hardest workout for me, I simply HATE push-ups and pull-ups. But if it's that what it takes to get in good shape...oh well, I'll deal with that...

I did day 7 with X-Stretch! Strength and cardio are both important but Tony has gotten my attention with the idea that stretching and flexibility are as important or even more important than everything else. At age 67, I don't have much flexibility so I just did as much as I could. I believe that I will gain much of my flexibility back. Even my wife is impressed by the fact that P90x includes yoga and stretching. She was very skeptical of P90x, particularly me doing it at my age; but, after seeing me do the yoga and stretching, she is encouraging me to continue with P90x. I did skip a couple of days for personal reasons (I just don't have a real excuse) but I am still on track to complete P90x by Thanksgiving.

Ok I am back! I packed a ton of weight on the past few months, so now it's time to get busy. Chest and back this evening made it half way through, but in the AM I did Boot Camp and 30 min hip hop abs, so P90X is my strength training.

Great job New!!, love the goals!!! And thank you!! Back is doing much better...we canoed yesterday which was great fun and today was the yard work..I think I weeded for 2 hours!!! Then washed the car and truck. Felt wonderful to get in the pond to water jog after all that!!

Fit...insanity in insane!!! I got midway and my knees were crying..so I stopped and returned to p90x. You can do it!!! Cheering you on girl!! Woot!!

Good day Sunday to each of you from my neck of the world.

It's a rest day from structured exercise. I will start Week 6 of 12 weight lifting on Monday. I so look forward to this particular routine.

FitGlam - I hear Insanity IS intense and wish you great success with it.

August Goals:
1. Continue with TUFF lifting program. Currently in the 5-8 week phase to lift heavier and less reps per set.
2. Decrease Body Fat %
3. Increase water to 8 cups per day.
4. Log food & fitness daily.
5. Encourage at least one person per day.

Our Insanity DVD's just arrived. I watched one. I don't know though, looks pretty intense. I guess that is why they call it Insanity. I am still really busy, but within a week will put together some kind of workout routine to keep me going. Hope you all are doing well!

TGIF Team!

It is going to be another triple digit SIZZLING day here in Texas.

This morning I performed Week5/Day5 of TUFF Lower Body 2 (focus upper & lower legs, abs) completed in 46 minutes including warm-up & cool down stretching. Increased loads compared to last Friday's performance. I did two different plank styles (elbow plank done twice, push-up pose plank) and able to hold an average of 60 secs now. The goal is 30-60 secs per set. Performed forward, reverse, and steady lunges. I started to feel THAT muscle in the glute area talking back to me before finishing the WO.
DB sets in use: 10, 11.25, 12.5, 13.75, 17.5, 27.5, 28.75, 30, and 32.5.

FitGlamGirl - when you get back on your fitness routine you will be in "beast mode"...lol.

Dee - sure sounds like you are doing very with with fitnes. Hate to hear that you tweaked a back muscle. You are doing right by your back, too. WTG on your nutritional side of things, too!

Good morning ladies!!! Have a fantastic day!!! I have been rebounding and getting in some water jogs here and there. Tweaked a muscle in my back a few days ago with lifting and giving it a little time to heal. It is really a lot better than at first . Been able to do light workouts just not ready to lift too much yet...just to be on the safe side.
Doing well on my WW pts...staying in range for last few days!!!

Hi All! At the moment I took on a summer project, so I am super busy. I am in a holding pattern for fitness, but will be back I am hoping within a week. I just wanted to check in and say hi and let you know that I will be back as soon as I can.

I am sad to say with all that is going on, my fitness has gone by the wayside for now, but that won't be forever. Ha Ha!

Dee - I have "those kind of calfs" to but with this program they are shaping up nicely, too. WTG on the continued use of the Rebounder! Sounds like your legs are getting some great benefits. Have a great weekend and thanks for being one of my biggest supporters and motivators!

Fri - Yay! I am finished with Phase 1 of the TUFF 12-week program and will hit the ground with Phase 2 (weeks 5-8). I am so excited to start with doing lesser reps which means going heavier than in the first four weeks. Week4/Day5 of TUFF Lower Body 2 completed in 51 minutes. In comparison to Week1/Day5, I am definitely stronger and saw DB size progression. Did the DB lunges 8 reps per leg and three sets each. I continued to do the DB standing Calf Raise by turning toes forward, outward, and then inward. DB sets in use: 8.75, 10, 11.25, 17.5, 27.5. I will weigh (not expecting any change) and take measurements on Sunday.

emoticon you are RAWKING it girl!!! Some serious weight you are moving my friend!! Woot!!
Rebounding has been a great change and break from the X. I have noticed the inside of my thighs...closer to the knee area becoming firmer. However...I got lots of jiggle so hoping as I continue it will melt and firm!!! LOL!! my calf muscles are looking great!!! I always called them man calves as they are big!!! But the new definition in them I like!!

Keep up the great work!! Helping son pack for a trip today...after a date with my rebounder and KB that is. He leaves in the afternoon so plenty of time!!! TGIF

Hi Everyone...looks like all are doing well.

MM - it was good to read that your DH's surgery went well and he is having a nice recovery. I see that you and FitGlamGirl are really into the rebounder. I am waiting to hear the results in another week or two from you both.

This morning Week4/Day4 of TUFF Upper Body 2 completed in 40 mins. What made this session shorter after three weeks of doing it was shortening my rest periods between sets from 60 secs to 45 secs on average. I was able to increase load in 2 of the exercises this week, too. I am feeling that muscle fatigue right now…lets me know they got a great workout.
DB sizes: 7.5, 13.75, 15, 16.25, 17.5

Tomorrow, I finish up Week 4 of 12 with this heavy lifting program. The first four weeks consisted of doing three sets and 8-10 reps per exercise. The next four weeks will be the same exercises but doing three sets and 6-8 reps per exercise. One needs to max out by the last rep...whoa!

Keep up the awesome work!
